In the comments, I was amazed to find that people as far away as New Zealand and Scotland knew of Daisy Bates or learned of her in primary school (k-12 equivalent), but here in the US, where she walked students to school, including the Little Rock 9, she is virtually unremembered in most primary textbooks and curriculum.
