im a bartender. well, i picked up a job as a bartender. so that makes me a bartender. 1 month in. straight hire to bartender, no barback or anything. its great, last night i made close to $100 in tips in the 3 hours the bar was open. i get paid reasonably well hourly so the tips are an added bonus, it aint some "get paid $2 wage & tips make the rest"
there's a bar across the street where the workers come over & drink when there bar closes. im in a hotel bar. so our lobby is open all night. they stay till 3 or 4 a.m.. they tip great every time, for simple drinks. last night i hadda guy from Chicago who tipped me $30. he had 6 drinks & was stayin at the hotel. was very talkative
get lots of international folks as im also a hotel front desk worker as well as the bartender. only 1 of us per shift so we do both jobs. ppl are very interesting. maybe not when they go "can i join you?" when youre just tryna eat some uncrustsbles at 4 a.m. in the hotel lobby. but they have stories & its nice to meet different folks.
but...im a bartender. last night i tried the sam malone look of a rag draped over my shoulder. my girlfriend wants me to do a nick miller type of thing where i wear a lumberjack shirt but i like to wear the same shirt & pants each shift.
i can make drinks which i never thought id do. very excited to see where this takes me over the years
