closed starter for JASON TODD ( @undeadredhood )
Part of herself felt bad because she only decided to meet with Jason to see if he could give her more information about the pride march incident and not because she wanted to check up on him. Although, she really wanted to do that, it was not the priority. On the other hand, she had burnt her hair and had to cut it short with a kitchen shears plus a few minor burns, Barbara thought it was punishment enough.Β βSorry, Iβm late.β It was only over three minutes past their meet-up time but she was always either early or on the dot but she already felt she was being inefficient..Β βCan I get coffee first though. I havenβt have like have one for eight hours.β
It wasnβt a surprise that ever since the Thanos incident Jason has been distancing himself from his family more than usual. He needed answers, it was something insatiable inside him that wouldnβt rest until he had some. After working alongside Supergirl and one of the Lanterns and learning of the gasβs existence, he couldnβt help but conclude that this was someoneβs sick way of fucking with them. Heβs yet to hear back from Bruce as to what the gas was meant to gauge however he found himself silently hoping it wasnβt going to tear away more memories from those he cared about. As Babs approaches, Jasonβs offering a slight shake of his head.Β βNo worries, already done.β Heβs pushing over a coffee he ordered a few minutes prior.Β βStill the same order, right?β

βUhβthat was broken when I got here. I couldnβt possibly know whoΒ did it.β Kittyβs brows knitted together with a feigned look of confidence. Her powers had been on the fritz for some time now. Phasing between tangible and intangible parts. Appliances of all kinds have fallen victim to her touch without fail. She was a long ways away from the manor andΒ she didnβt want to go home with her tail between her legs. The world needed her; at least she hoped it did.
When the girl seems to be attempting to cover up the fact that she definitely did break the item, Jason can only offer an unamused shrug. He wasnβt the type of person to be on someones ass for something so trivial.Β βWhatever, kid, Iβm the last person to rat you out.βΒ
A simple death would not suffice.

valerie could do nothing but stare at this strangerβs face as he spoke to her. despite his dismissive behavior, his expressions felt so soft or almost painful like he was forcing these emotions back so val just gave him another soft smile as a goodbye. yet for some reason the moment he walked away, valerie felt her heart drop to her stomach. the girl was unsure as to why she was having these feelings, this compulsion she felt to be near this stranger. another image danced behind her eyes like some far away memory but this one was different. once again she could not see any faces but she knew the two were fighting. the two werenβt violent as it looked like they yelled at each other but the situation was far from calm. the woman kept trying to reach out but each time she was just pushed away, and then she watched the male in her memory withdraw from the argument and leave the girl behind. after it ended, the memory seemed to fade like dust blowing into the wind, and in that instant it brought her back to the reality at hand as she watched this stranger walk away in the same fashion. val knew that something like this just had to be irrational. these images must have been dreams and there was no way she actually know this man β despite all these facts the girl couldnβt help herself from chasing after him. doing her best to focus on staying on the ground, valerie leaped after down the steps, pushing through people gently she soon reached the boy once again. her hand grabbed onto his leather jacket to grab his attention once again.Β β iβm sorry i know you have places to be butβ¦β but what? she couldnβt ask if she knew him when she knew the answer was no. her eyes blinked a couple times trying to form words but her thoughts just felt like some alien language.Β β but it will probably take me forever to figure out my way home anyways so maybe we could meet up later and talk? β
Jason knew that even with none of her prior memories, Kori wouldnβt be anything if not persistent. So when sheβs reaching for his jacket, the bark he wants to let out at her is held on his tongue by the tensing up of his jaw. He was actually on his way to meet up with Bruce, to get the low-down on what theyβd be doing in regards to investigating the gas that had filled the cityβs subways. Heβs not sure if theyβll actually get any answers by investigating such a fruitless lead, the gas alone not harboring any qualities theyβll be able to identify anytime soon, but if it could bring them a step closer to figuring out how to get everyoneβs memories back - Jason was begrudgingly on board.Β βIβve actually got plans,β itβs not a total lie, he had a date with the Subway terminals of Staten Island. Though as his darker eyes meet her much brighter ones, he canβt help the way he can feel himself softening at the sight of her alone. He has little restraint when it comes to Kori to begin with, the Tameranean quite simply having the former Robin wrapped around her finger, and even without her memories it was no different. His jaw slacks as he offers her a shake of his head.Β βIβll walk you back to your place.βΒ

newspaper in one hand and with a pen in the other, valerie marked off one of the open listings for a new apartment. she had been looking at plenty of them today and while she was getting tired, she refused to give up. walking a couple more blocks the auburn haired girl made her way to the next listing. as the girl began walking into the building she knocked shoulders with a stranger and in that instant she felt lightning strike through her. behind her eyes she saw a flash of images of two people but couldnβt see any faces. the two seemed happy and the man held the girl in his arms yet val just shook off the illusion.Β turning around quickly she grabbed the hand of the boy she bumped into, hoping to see someone she knew. the first thing she noticed was his bright blue eyes looking back at her like he was seeing a ghost. then as her green eyes travelled, she noticed the white streak in his hair, the small scars on his skin and his lips looking like they wanted to smile back at her. the back of her eyes felt like they wanted to burn from tears and her heartbeat skipped yet in an instance those feelings of familiarity seemed to disappear. β hey sorry about bumping into you. my mom said i was always off in space.β val gave him a warm smile.Β β anyways, do you live here? β @undeadredhood
The days spent in New York City seemed to blend together by now. Jasonβs days were spent holed up in his room or out with Roy whenever the archer was able to convince him to do otherwise. Things just hadnβt felt the same since Kori disappeared, and overtime it only became more and more evident just how great a hold the Tamaranean had on him. Part of him needed to know where she was, and if she was safe. Though after a run-in with Diana, who turned out to not be Diana, Jason couldnβt help but wonder if Kori was out there too. After swallowing his pride and asking Bruce for any and all information he has on these pseudo doppelgΓ€ngers roaming the city, Jason felt as though he was on a mission. Exactly what he would do if he crossed paths with Kori was unknown. Heβs not sure if heβll be pleading for her to remember him, their past, and their friends, or if heβll leave her be. If sheβs happier this way, maybe it was a hint from the universe that she was better off without him. Even without the swiping of her memory, that was always a fact Jason was hyperaware of. Hands are tucked into the pockets of his leather jacket as he makes an attempt to duck out of the apartment complex unnoticed. The last thing he wanted to deal with right now was someone else in his life unable to remember his name. Just as heβs heading toward his bike, a familiar head of bright colored hair is colliding into his shoulder. Jason feelβs his heart dropping into the pit of his stomach, seemingly the first time heβs felt anything since he disappeared to begin with. Not a single word that comes out of her mouth registers with him, Jason finding himself nearly paralyzed from the shock. He hadnβt expected to cross paths with Kori anytime soon, and itβs clear by her nonchalant question that she too was a victim of swiped memories. He swallows thickly, hands remaining in his pockets as he eyes her.Β βI do, but I was just on my way out, so...β The sound of his own voice is cringeworthy, an evident strain as he chokes back what it is he really wishes to say to her.Β As he begins to walk toward his bike, he offers her a halfhearted wave.Β βHave a good one.βΒ

This was admittedly the last place Jason thought heβd be. The last thing he wanted was to give Bruce the satisfaction of watching him grovel, tail between his legs as he exhausted all his options on his search to get Kori back. On a venture out into the city, he ran into one of the few people Jason could truly say that he trusted. Diana Prince, otherwise known as Wonder Woman. Ever since the Amazon entered their lives he saw the positive affects she had on not only his family, but himself. He confided in Diana, so when he addressed her only to swear theyβd never met, and that she went by a different name only sparked the maleβs interest. If Diana was a victim to whatever it was that took Kori from him, Jason was positive Bruce would know something about it.Β
Dark hues inspect the contents of Bruceβs desk before heβs settling into the chair, fingertips drumming against the arm rests. There are files, various news literature and deconstructed gadgets among the clutter, but one thing in particular that catches his eye are the few picture frames Bruce had displayed. One with a photograph of Diana and the rest of their family, and the other of just Jason. The photo is familiar, one he recalled a certain Tamaranean taking of him. It doesnβt take long for Jason to understand that in his absence, that Bruce and Kori were communicating. And as annoyed as he wants to be, for once, he just doesnβt have it in him. A gloved hand reaces to place the frame face down, unable to look back on the memory without a familiar sinking feeling occupying his chest.Β
Heβll reach for one of the many pieces of tech scattered about the desk top, fiddling with it in his grip in an attempt to fill the short-lived silence. Turning to face the source of the noise, his jaw tenses to hold back the myriad of things heβs been stifling since heβs last seen the other.Β βYou didnβt change my passwords.β Jason doesnβt wish to stew in any kind of sentimental moment. He came here for one reason, and one reason alone.Β βI ran into Diana.β He doesnβt bother going into detail, fully aware that if Bruce had any information on the matter, that he would know what Jason was implying.Β

@undeadredhood !
βWelcome to New York, Little Wing.β Dick says with a grin as he lands on the rooftop. Heβd planned on a patrol tonight, full intending to check out the city and make sure things are relatively calm for the night. What he wasnβt exactly expecting was to come across his brother - and heβs not sure Jason will exactly be glad to see him - but heβs glad to see the other all the same.
He tucks his Eskrima sticks back into their holsters as he approaches Jason, wanting to make sure the other knows heβs not here for a fight.Β βYou move to the same city as all of us and you donβt even call? Iβm wounded, Jay.β
The loss of Kori wore on Jason as the days went on. His life had seemingly been one shitty occurrence after another, and the one time he was experiencing an up, it was taken from him. Or - to put it in proper terms - it turned to dust in his grip. The sight of her weary expression as she slipped away from him was practically etched into the inside of his eyelids. It was something he couldnβt shake no matter how little or how much sleep he managed to get at night. Patrolling in the city had done a decent job at helping him clear his mind, although when a familiar voice is calling him an all too familiar nickname, the only thing on his mind now is just how bad his injuries would be if heβd jumped from such a height.Β
Heβll keep his helmet down, eyes never leaving the illuminated city below them.Β βSurprise.β Itβs a deadpanned response, though heβs sure at this point Dick was used to it.Β βYouβre not special, Grayson. I didnβt tell anyone Iβm here.βΒ
