--I. Am. Dead.
Good Morning Mum
Beep! Beep! I hit my alarm off. Daylight was still far off, by the looks of it. I put my eyes into focus on the alarm. 5:26 AM. Why couldn’t I wake up at a normal time with a normal alarm clock that goes off at the right time? I wanted to go back to sleep, but I couldn’t get there. I heard someone talking quietly. “You’ll wake them mummy! It’s bed time, see the clock?” I told her. “Oh hush up dear. You’ll get worry lines if you don’t stop this, and you’re only eleven. Finally old enough to go down to the train, eh?” she said back. The healers liked to tell me she was just an illusion, but she was there, I saw her I could speak to her. I stared at her, my big blue eyes into hers. I had her eyes, and father’s hair. “Mummy, please don’t wake up Flor.” Florean was my big brother, and he was the best. He was already at Hogwarts, and he only had a few years left. I really loved Florean, he makes me proud to be his sister. I love Theo, but not my dad so much. Mummy hates him, and me too. He tries to take me to Healers, because he can’t see mum. He’s sad she’s dead, but I see her just fine. Daddy doesn’t really like Flor, he always makes him try and find work quick. We don’t have lots of money, because father tries to give me medicines I don’t need. He didn’t even want me to go to school, because I could be dangerous. Florean though, he promised to watch over me, and I trust him to. Father doesn’t, but who cares about father? Of course, father is the only one supporting us, so he might be a little frantic. “I can wake that no good son. Just because I gave him life, doesn’t make him special. You’re special my dear.” “Mummy, Florean is so much better than me okay!” I yelled at her. I clamped my mouth shut, horrified in waking anyone. “Hush up, and listen. You ought to go into your brother’s room and-” “Mum, I’m not going to do it!” I shouted louder than I meant. I heard the doorknob jiggle and snuck under my bed. Florean didn’t even have a bedroom, he had a couch, so he was extra easy to hear us. “Shh! Someone’s coming! See you woke them again!” “NO DON’T YOU DARE PIN THIS ON ME!” “Mum, don’t yell they’ll hear you!” I was begging her to be quiet. I snuck back under the covers, and pretended to sleep. “Fawn, sweetheart, I know you’re up.” Florean whispered. “Sorry Flor, did I wake you?” I asked feeling guilty about it. I looked over at mum, who was on my left. “Apologize mum.” She rolled her eyes at me. “He can’t see me Fawn.” “I don’t care if he can’t hear you. You taught me manners, so please, apologize.” “I’m sorry.” Mum said her eyes rolling again. I looked at Florean. “I’m not going onto the train today.” I told him grinning. “Yes you are.” He told me. “I don’t want to! What if the kids make fun of me? Not everyone is nice like you! What if they call me mean names or,” my eyes widened. “Flor, what if the curse? What if they’re like father and they tell me I’m crazy, and mum isn’t there?” Florean sighed. “I’m sorry sweetheart, you have to go.” He said kissing my head. “Okay.” I said giving into him. Florean was probably right any way, despite how I didn’t want to be. Suddenly my stomach rumbled and Flor and I giggled. “I can have some breakfast?” I asked him. “You mean, ‘Can I have some breakfast?’ Yes sweety, you can.” He was always fixing the way I talk, because he was a good big brother, he knew how to speak, and he helped me speak correctly. We went to the kitchen of our small home, and he got out my favorite hazelnut spread and toast. I started to eat real fast, but then mum called me a pig, so I stopped eating. “Honey, finish your breakfast.” Flor told me, but I didn’t want to look like a pig again. “Not hungry.” “You just asked for food!” he said, but quickly he calmed down. “And it’s ‘I’m not hungry’ love.” “Now, I’m not hungry.” I said, but my stomach deceived me. I looked down and starting fixing my skirt. “The picture is croaked.” I told mum pointing to the picture of the family, before mum died. “Crooked.” Florean and mum corrected at the same time. I watched Florean get into the freezer for ice cream. “Ice cream for breakfast? Really Florean.” Mum remarked looking disapproving. She didn’t approve of my brother’s ice cream addiction. I heard daddy come down stairs, and he verbalized mummy’s reaction to Flor eating ice cream so Florean could hear. “Sorry I took so long to wake up, with it being a big day and all. When do we have to be there?” “9 o’clock father.” Florean said, looking back at me. “Better finish that toast, you got a big day.” “Go on, eat.” Mum instructed and I finished the toast, more prim and proper than the last time, so I would not get yelled at. “Fawn dear, we’ve already worked it out with the healers at Hogwarts. It’ll be safe for you there, just do what they say, promise?” Daddy said to me. I rolled my eyes. “I’m not crazy daddy! I’m not crazy!” I said, my mouth full of toast. Mum scolded me for talking with food in my mouth. “You have a condition.” “Dad, stop. She’s perfectly normal. Just a little special.” Florean said, kissing my forehead. Then we all headed out to Platform 9 ¾.
Platinum is Hipster
There are three closer than close friends at Hogwarts. Alice Prewett, Sawyer Hawkins and Xenophilius Lovegood are probably the most hipster kids at Hogwarts, and they wouldn’t have it any other way. The good thing about the group is there is no one leader of the group; they all share an equal part, most of the time. While Xen and Alice are closer, Sawyer still is there and always has something important to say. They’ve even given themselves, as a group, a name, nay, a title. They, along with their friends, refer to themselves as a The Platinum Trio, because after all, platinum is so underground.
~Just Continuing The Start~
“So Sawyer? Haven’t meant too many girls named Sawyer. Or people really. It’s a cute name,” ten-year-old Alice Prewett said as Sawyer told her name on the train to Hogwarts.
“Thanks. You’re name is pretty normal.” Sawyer remarked.
“I know.” Alice said with disgust. “Nothing to change about that.” Later on in life, Alice would tell the two how jealous she was of that fact, they had such abnormal names, and she was ‘Just Alice.’
In the cart Alice had made herself comfortable on the floor, holding her legs to her chest, giving Xen and Sawyer both their own seats. Xenophilius was lying in his seat and Sawyer had her knees tucked under her bottom the seat opposite him. They all had more than silently agreed one thing; Normal was boring. Normal people liked to judge you, and make fun of you. Alice put most of her cousins, grandparents however great, and aunts and uncles under this category. Even her parents who were relatively plain went down there.
“So either of you Hungary?” Alice asked. She was offering them food, but as a small child, she had trouble pronouncing her words, although eventually, she was able to grow out of that.
“You mean hungry, Ali?” Sawyer asked giggling. The other two thought her lisp was cute, though she thought it made her sound inferior.
Alice rolled her eyes. “Yes Hungary.” The two laughed. They had known her for less than two hours and they had already started making fun of Alice’s lisp. They were practically kinfolk already.
“Yes, Alice, practically starving.” Xen said holding his stomach to further emphasize his point.
“Yeah I am.” Sawyer said. Alice reached into her tiny bag and drew out enough money to buy all three of them in acceptable amount of snacks, to satisfy their hungers. She came from a rather rich family, so she had money to share some food. “Thanks Ali.” Sawyer said munching away on the snacks Alice had promised them. “Really, it’s nothing. I really like sharing food. It’s a way to show you want to be friends.” All three of them laughed, and took turns buying food for each other.
~The True Story of Eating Cat~
Living in London, Alice often forced her friends to visit her, taking small trips to little places most people hated. Fleet Street was a perfect example of this. Not even Amelia would go with Alice there, claiming everyone who went to Fleet Street didn’t leave. However, Alice convinced Xen and Sawyer, telling them nothing bad could happen there. “Alice, this street is lively with all sorts of characters.” Sawyer commented, looking at one of the shops, some boy selling something. He was a cute boy, and had Alice not been out on an adventure, some flirting definitely would have occurred, but she was, which was good, because that kid had more or less lost his marbles, and not in the good way. “I heard we could find wizards on this street!” she muttered to her friends. “Mason, he’s one of my cousin I don’t believe you two have met, and Jack, he’s the bitch one you two hate, the both came down here, or so they say. Said they found wizards shadier than in Hog’s Head!” she told her friends, excited. While she didn’t believe her cousins actually had come down here, she was certain she would find scary, exciting wizards. The group shuffled through the busy street, although they didn’t seem to mind. After all, this street wasn’t nearly as busy as their usual London hotspots. No one visited Fleet Street. Alice, Xeno and Sawyer were all big picture takers, although Alice was the only one with a fisheye camera. “Look!” she shouted pointing at one of the shops. “Mrs. Lovett’s Pie Shop Emporium.” She read. “You guys hungry?” she asked. The two looked at each other then back to Alice. “You mean Hungary, Alice?” Xen asked her. She glared at them, before giggling along with them. All three walked into the big building, and each bought a pie. Each also threw up for ten minutes after choking the pie down. “These are the worst pies in London!” Alice said after leaving the pie shop. The taste of vomit lingered in her mouth, though it was better than the pie the sweet woman had cooked. She seemed a bit on the insane side, although they didn’t mind. She was sweet to chat to, even if she couldn’t cook at all. “We need something else to eat. Now.” Xen said, and Alice agreed. Sawyer told them she’d throw up of she ate anything ever again, although Xena and Alice convinced her to get some water or something to wash her mouth out. They made their way to another food shop, the first one being “Mrs. Mooney’s Meat Pies.” They almost turned around and didn’t go, their trust in pies not so trusting anymore. “Alice, let’s just go, anymore walking and one of us is going to throw up.” Xen said. And the shop reminded them of Remus, although none of the group had ever called him ‘Moony’ the Marauders seemed to use it as his pet name, so it just reminded her of her friend. “I suppose you’re right. Let’s go in then.” Alice said, still holding her stomach. Sawyer and Xenophilius followed close behind. “Do you have better pies than Mrs. Lovett’s Pie Shop? She’s a sweet woman, but we’re in desperate need of something that doesn’t make us vomit ten minutes.” Alice told the woman at the front. She was quite frank, mainly because she wasn’t into the idea of throwing up so violently again. The old lady laughed and promised she had better pies, and got Xen and Alice one, then came back with a glass of water for Sawyer. “These are good.” Alice told Mrs. Mooney. The pies were fresh, and tasted like actual meat was in them, but the meat itself tasted… weird. She couldn’t even explain it. She was just… It tasted weird. “Alice, Xenophilius, I’ll be right back. Miss, where’s the bathroom?” Sawyer asked. “To the left down there.” Mrs. Mooney said pointing to a hall that had quite a few doors in it. “Last door.” She told her. After Sawyer came back, which took an eternity and both Xen and Alice wondered if she’d forgotten her way out of the bathroom, Xeno and Alice had finished and paid for their pies, and all three of them headed out. Sawyer looked weirded out. “Something wrong Soy?” Alice asked her taking a picture. “You guys ate cat.” She said giggling. Alice looked at Xen. “Cat, Soy? What do you mean?” Xenophilius asked. “When I went to the bathroom, I forgot what door she said,” “Of course.” Alice and Xenophilius said at the same time, making Sawyer glare. “So I opened them all till I found it and one of them had dead cats and a meat grinder.” She explained. “It only had like two dead cats, so it wasn’t like they weren’t fresh, but then the next room had a bunch of living cats.” Sawyer explained. Alice looked at Xen, Xenophilius back to Alice, and then both to Sawyer than back to each other. They had eaten a cat. For the longest time everyone was silently, Alice and Xenophilius deep in puzzling thoughts, and Sawyer with a rather amused expression. Finally after what seemed like forever, but was probably only two and three point one seconds, Alice broke the silence. “Interesting flavor cat have.” She said, making everyone laugh. As outta the mainstream cat meat was, it wasn’t something they would plan to try again.
~Platinum Is Underground~
It doesn’t take long to earn a title. If three people are closer than close, they tend to get titled. For example, they weren’t always ‘The Platinum Trio’. At one point they were just known as Ali, Xeno and Sawyer by others, or their own various nicknames. Eventually, for a short while they were Ali/Xeno/Sawyer and their group. That wasn’t enough of a title though. They all agreed. They needed something official, something they knew fit them, yet others wouldn’t find absurd to them. They needed it to have a perfect name. “I think we should be Sawyer, and Sawyer’s Friends.” Sawyer joked. She was quite often the one to bring light humor to them. “Oh, sure and then, I’ll change my name to Friend One and Xen there can be Friend Two.” Alice said using light sarcasm. “Friend Two? Me? Let me guess Alice, regular names are too ‘mainstream’?” Xenophilius laughed. “Absolutely.” “So we all want Sawyer and Sawyer’s Friends?” she asked, as though she were totally serious. “How about you know, Two Virgins and Alice?” Alice joked around. “Or we could call it Two Virgins and Slutty McGee.” Sawyer teased. “I dunno. We can be some fancy trio.” “Gold is too normal and expectant. Same with silver.” Xen told her. “What’s underground?” Alice questioned. They sat in silence thinking about what they were to be named. “I’VE GOT IT!” Xen screamed. “What?!” His friends asked a little shocked at her sudden outburst. “Platinum.” Xenophilius said. “Platinum is underground!” Alice chimed in. The others, after three knowledgeable years with Alice, hadn’t quite grasped her slang exactly, though they certainly had an idea what ‘underground’ meant, they weren’t exactly certain. “Ali, I’m completely lost with this. Explain.” Sawyer commanded, taking them back to first year, when Sawyer had no clue what Alice said at any point in time. “Literally this time. Platinum is underground!” she explained. “Like pure platinum, it’s more rare than pure gold. And you find it really far under the Earth’s crust.” Xenophilius added on, seeming to grasp Alice’s point. “OH!” Soy exclaimed. “And we’re rare like platinum aren’t we?” she asked. “Right! And no one really gives platinum the credit it deserves.” Alice went on. “And we’re labeled as freaks rather than special.” Xen chimed. It seemed platinum was a big savior to the group, because platinum was like the group. In its purest form platinum was rare, and not a person could duplicate Alice, Xen or Sawyer. Platinum was underground, and so were they. The name was something they sorta got people to start calling them, because they called themselves that. At first, they just called themselves ‘The Platinum Three’, but soon, people changed it. They were known as ‘The Platinum Trio’ nowadays. It seemed to fit them so well though.
So that’s some of the stories of three friends. Some, but not all, of their adventures it seems. They taught each other valuable lessons, they saved each other multiple times, and they were truly friends, anyone would dream of.
The Prewett Children and Traditions
The Prewetts were quite an average bunch, of different faces. Alice had toms of different cousins of all ages, most of them older than her, some exactly the same year, yet still months older. They were always visiting each other, usually at a different Prewett home than Alice’s, seeing as it was a small home in London. Some of the cousins of Alice were good, some were bad and some were just oddities. They had all sorts of unspoken traditions that they all seemed to know about, despite the silence on them. Each Prewett home was usually called the oldest child’s name by the kids. For example, the home of Aimee and Caroline was Caroline’s home. No one remembered why that tradition got started, but it was easy for those kids to talk about each household as a whole. Caroline Jade Prewett was 17 when Alice first joined Hogwarts, and was definitely a Slytherin at heart. She was tall, with straight blonde hair going down her back reaching exactly the middle of it. Alice never understood how Caroline could keep her hair so nice, it was never tangled and every hair was in place. Caroline disliked Alice a lot, because in her mind, she brought a bad name to the Prewett households. Alice was far too abnormal, and didn’t play by the rules. When she grew too old for her own household, she was married off, and only visited the Prewetts on holidays. She was furiously protective of her sister Aimee, and the death of Aimee, only fueled her hate towards Alice. Tyler, who also was a Slytherin, was 19 by the time Alice first got into Hogwarts, and he adored her when she was a child. As we said, Alice hated most of her cousins, but not all. Tyler, who was also tall, wasn’t quite as blonde as Caroline, but his hair wasn’t nearly as dark as Alice’s. He was well known for carrying Alice on his back and listening to her stories of what she would do as an Auror, along with Thomas R. However, the spring of Alice’s fourth year, all that changed. Tyler became a Death Eater. He ran away from home leaving a letter explaining he didn’t want to be with all the blood traitors in the family. Alice was heart broken, but couldn’t say she didn’t see it coming. Tyler Prewett had been a true Slytherin, despite his forming friendship with his Gryffindor cousin. Then there was Thomas R., who rarely revealed what the R stood for, though I’ll give you a hint; Remington is quite the place to live. Perhaps his parents knew that when they named him he’d roam amongst the ‘ravens’ though he was an eagle you could say. Ravenclaw. He was relatively medium height, and like Tyler, he adored Alice. He was exactly six years and two days older than her. He and Tyler were the only complete Prewett household that didn’t find her a nuisance to their name. He in fact, encouraged her to be an Auror when she was a child, telling her all the exciting things that happened in there. As he grew older, he became an Auror himself, and he wrote to Alice once in a while. His visits were only occasional, and he seemed to take his brother’s absents better than Alice, making it quite clear, he was there if she needed him, saying they didn’t need Tyler. This prompted many fights between them. Fights that caused his writing to her to stop, fights that shaped her into a little less forgiving person than she was before. Now every family has a troublemaker, and the Prewetts were no exception. However the origin of who caused the most trouble was unknown. It was either the Alice house, or the Jenny house. Jenny however, wasn’t the troublemaker. Quite contrary actually, she made sure her brother, Jack Nate Prewett, didn’t cause serious damaging trouble. Jack never went by his full name, and only his family knew it to be honest. He hated the name Nate. His trouble and Alice’s trouble was different though, because while Alice got in trouble because of her mouth, he got in trouble because of his pranks. Jenny who was older often attempted to control her brother, but to no avail. Jenny had pretty red hair, cut into sort of a bob style, while her brother has brown-red hair that was pretty long for a boy. They contrasted so much to each other. However, no one could deny they loved each other. Jack was the essence of Gryffindor, and Jenny was a perfect Hufflepuff. Of course, we all know there were three children her age beside herself: Molly, Gideon, and Aimee. She thought each of them was okay, however her and Gideon had a competitive lifestyle. Her and Aimee were relatively close, and she didn’t hate Molly, because let’s face it guys. Everyone loved Molly. Damien, Damien was kind of a prude. He always had his nose buried in the same book; Grand Things Like Defeating A Dragon. Damien Prewett claimed he’d fight off dragons and werewolves and other things like that. He adored these ideas. He was also a tall Prewett, a gene Alice wasn’t lucky enough to receive. He was true to his Ravenclaw nature, studying harder than possible, never having fun. He was in his third year by the time Alice got to go to Hogwarts. His definite Ravenclaw ways made him an underrated Prewett, though he inspired Alice. Madison Jade Anneke Prewett was the most judgmental of the entire group of cousins. She was a Slytherin, and four years older than Alice. She and her sister Averi constantly judged everyone, especially their narcissistic cousin Caroline. They judged Alice even after she lost her lisp. Even though Averi was Gryffindor, it didn’t stop her relation with Madison Jade. Most of the time, Madison just complained about her cousin Caroline, to Averi, who would gladly listen. Madison absolutely hated Caroline, though Caroline wasn’t bright enough to tell. Caroline also hated Madison, though in “secret”. She’d complain to Aimee about her, or anyone who would listen. Even Alice heard no end of the troubles with Madison Jade or Caroline. Madison especially hated when Caroline reminded her she had the same second name. Averi, who was three years older than Alice, was constantly at the side of her big sister, though she was gentler about her hate. Their other siblings, Brooke, Lucas, Elizabeth, and Annabella were only their half siblings, because their father had remarried. Annabella and Lucas were both Slytherins, Elizabeth and Brooke was Ravenclaw. Valerie was a loyal Hufflepuff. Nearly everyone enjoyed her companion, except Alice. Alice didn’t like her because she found her too happy. She was fourteen years older than Alice, making her the oldest of the cousins. She was sweet to everyone, and always happy, much to Alice’s disgusted. She was too sweet, and she annoyed Alice. Her sister, Isabelle, was five years older than Alice, and a Ravenclaw and her triplet brothers, Jacob, Jasper, James Jr., we all four years older than Alice, Jacob Ravenclaw, and Jasper and James Jr. were also a Hufflepuffs, and her the youngest of the Valerie house, Victoria, was three years older than Alice, she was a Hufflepuff. Then there were the twins of the Darla Anne house. Darla Anne was their oldest sister, a Gryffindor of the home, and she lived with her two sisters, Caitlin and Stephanie, though no one used their full names. They were Cait and Steph. Cait was the Ravenclaw and Steph a Slytherin they were relatively close siblings. Alice didn’t like any of them at that house, because they were all so girly. It annoyed her. Another of the Prewett traditions was house rivalry. Not from house to house that they lived in, but house-to-house at Hogwarts. If one house had the more of the Prewetts in it then another, that house felt higher and mightier amongst the others. It had always been a tradition, even when the grandparents were at school. At the family table during holidays, the Prewetts had a very normal system; Youngest eats last. Now, no one minded this rule all that much, except baby Alice. She usually got good meals, but the problem was she hated being last. She always attempted to coin someone into giving her the food dish, which she managed to most of the time. Usually Jack, or Thomas felt sorry for her and handed it down ‘accidentally’. Used to, when Tyler was there, he’d get twice as much as he’d eat, and share some of the with Alice, because she never got what she liked the most. There was so little of her favorite dish made, mainly because most people didn’t like it, including the usual cooks. Up until the year Alice was born, only boys would play pranks on anyone. They promised anyone out of their “Prank Wars” would not get pranked on, and were usual considerate of this, minus Jack. However, Alice always attempted her way into the Prank Wars, and thought it wasn’t fair how sexist her cousins acted. She proved from a very young age she was tough enough to handle a lot, not crying when Jack used a Levicorpus on her, lifting her in a tree to high to get out. She didn’t cry, or wail for help like her other female cousins had, not even when she hit her head on the tree. She just sat there while she planned how to get out, and pretty soon, she was in a pile of leaves on the ground, that she conveniently didn’t see before. She didn’t know Tyler had moved it to help her, but neither did anyone else. She jumped out of the tree and beat up Jack, the best a six year old could beat up an eleven year old. From then on, she was including in their pranks, even though she hadn’t a wand till she was eleven. She had learnt to fight with her hands too. Even though most of her cousins hated Alice, it was family hate. If she really needed them, they’d be there, possibly save Caroline. They weren’t bad family. They weren’t close to her. They could be there for her though, if she needed them.
