i wish all gas and electricity firms a very happy die
Also Iām sick to death of rich tv personalities telling us how to survive during the winter when they donāt know half of the struggle of working class folks
Same goes for the summer tbh. It was 115 degrees today. Ice packs or a small fan aren't going to cut it
RIP Brian
Because the people they disrespected were not considered people, so the actions didn't count as disrespect.
That's the generation that threw rocks at Ruby Bridges. That's the generation that celebrated the death of Martin Luther King. And nowadays, there's no shortage of people from that generation who abuse customer service workers or who sexually harass teenage girls.
Brb, gonna go cry. This is just over 1/3rd of my debt since I did get Pell Grants.
More info can be found here: https://studentaid.gov/debt-relief-announcement/
Guys this last point is HUGE. So many borrowers will actually have an end in sight now.
As someone with outstanding debt from being a non-traditional student, frankly every part of this plan is HUGE. Not enough, but huge compared to everything jackass has done so far, and really capable of impacting peoplesā lives. I was able to pay half of my yearly tuition due to having had a much better job then, which vanished permanently during early COVID. So after graduation I was left with just over 17,000 dollars in primary. (Peanuts compared to a lot of borrowers, I know.) If you donāt have student loans, you may not really get how bad the interest rates are. Before this bill I stood to pay 30,000 over the next twenty years. Yes, thatās more than half again in interest. Now, this bill is targeted to people like me who have small outstanding loans, low income and so on. I benefit more than a vast majority of borrowers because this will wipe out more than half of what I owe, cap my payments at something ludicrously small⦠something like 50 bucks a month, and forgive me the remainder at just about the age my father retired at. Iām hardly the typical case. BUT! Every part of this does benefit a huge number of borrowers. If you make less than, I think it was 120,000 a year, as most graduates do, you are going to have $10,000 or $20,000 (if you had Pell grants) shaved off your outstanding debt, UP TO THE OUTSTANDING AMOUNT. Thatās not nearly enough but itās really something. Your monthly income-based payment is capped at 5% of your monthly discretionary income, as opposed to 10% before. Thatās precious breathing room for a huge number of working people, and it really, truly makes a difference. After ten years, people who have been paying will be forgiven. Like, thatās the wham line here. Most of us stand to spend the next several decades paying, and to have it reduced to a single decade will let a lot of young people escape debt with a lot of their adult lives left. And lastly, yes, while youāre paying you wonāt be accruing interest, which is ENORMOUS when you consider that there are people who had $50,000 primary, paid on it at punishing rates for twenty years, and now have $70,000 outstanding. YOU HAVE TO APPLY BY THE END OF THE YEAR. I canāt stress how important this could be for you. If you have any federal student loans at all, follow the link above and apply. If youāre eligible, you wonāt be turned away if you get that form in by the end of the year. This is being billed explicitly as a āone timeā cancellation, so get it while itās hot. In some ways this is the least I would have accepted, but itās something and I need to know that people are taking advantage of it. Go read the full text and if youāre eligible, apply, please.
I'm crossing my fingers that this is just the tip of the iceberg. This is great, but for someone like me, who's still in college, it's just a band aid on the bullet hole of being forced to take out loans. If this forgiveness isn't continuous, then it doesn't affect me or my classmates. Biden / congress need to do something about the root of the problem, which is the ridiculously high cost of tuition, and at least in my area, the high cost of living. Without that, the loans will just keep coming.
I love the chaotic energy of this sign
But it would actually be ⨠affordable āØ
It sucks that the town lost it's library, but honestly, good for them for not putting up with homophobic bs

This is one of the most adorable Pride posts Iāve ever seen
What I love about the imagery of the turtle is that itās sending the message that they are protecting themselves by being in their shell. Itās not about deceiving straight people (like we are often told), but about the turtleās own safety. Theyāll come out when the time is right and they feel comfortable. šš³ļøāš
Yay! The Pride Turtle is back!
Too rageful to be eloquent right now so the words of others will have to suffice for the moment.
This is about Sci-Hub. yeah we get it.. gatekeep knowledge and protect the interests of capitalā¦
Listen, this is serious.
Do not use the website called Sci-Hub!
It lets people access scientific articles for free. This is dangerous. It helps the free flow of knowledge and reduces the competitive edge of all the people who worked really hard to have been born into a wealth.
Like, itās literally a website where you can type in the DOI of an article and read it, without ever having to pay the publisher who exploited the author.
So, again, do not, under any circumstance, use Sci-Hub. I mean, can you imagine a world where knowledge is free and easily accessible to everyone? Even, y'know, poor people?
Libgen also has many books online, including textbooks, searchable by name, author, and ISBN. Can you imagine textbook companies not getting their hard-earned income from poor college students? Here is the link just so you make sure that you never accidentally stumble across this horrible, unethical website.
Oh, and while weāre talking about books, if youāve managed to stay clear from Libgen, definitely donāt go to zlibrary, where you can also find a lot of textbooks, but unfortunately theyāre completely free.
Reblogging so you know which sites to totally avoid
Reblog if you need this energy
