The player moves into town using money they could scrape up. Upon moving into their apartment a misunderstanding happens between the player and their next door neighbor (Undyne); Undyne ends up not really liking you. I apologize.

I think it’s about time I swallowed my pride and admitted I can’t do this.

UNDERLOVE started as a cute, fun idea that I presented on Twitter that people liked. I thought, hey, what the heck, got a basic idea of what I wanted, then made a main menu screen and created that announcement post.

At first, I was excited and happy. I couldn’t believe all these people wanted to see my game. I’ve never gotten 3K notes on a post and 1K followers on a blog. I’ve never gotten so much support. So I kept churning out updates and doing the best I could. I suppose you could say I was on a bit of a high from all the attention.

But then the first freeze happened. And then the second freeze. And suddenly, my motivation dropped sharply, and I entered a pretty bad depression for a few days. It doesn’t help that at the same time I finally found a way to rewrite my original story that I had swimming around in my head so that it would be a lot better, and that I also found another obsession (Ensemble Stars).

Here’s the truth: I’m just a mentally and physically ill teenager. I have fibromyalgia, which makes me incredibly tired. My interests change rapidly and I have a horrible habit of starting things and never getting them done. Except this time, that habit has created something that garnered so much attention that the consequences became big and terrifying and I started to get scared and I didn’t know what to do. I purposefully hid my identity on this blog so that I wouldn’t get so many followers on my main.

I have always wanted to make a visual novel that became incredibly popular it would get a fanbase. I have always wanted to be remembered for something. And to everyone who doubted I could do this, I just wanted to say ‘ha! I did it! See!’ so I could feel like I ‘accomplished’ something (which they probably would just go ‘oh, good job’ at, so what would that be accomplishing in the end?). But now I’m starting to think...maybe I shouldn’t shoot that high. Maybe I was always just meant to have a nice, relaxing life as someone who just lives their days doing things they like rather than forcing themselves.

Or, maybe, I should just keep the big dreaming stowed away until I become an adult with a better sense of responsibility. (that is also taking a more helpful medication)

But I know many of you probably wanted to at least see what I had planned. Tomorrow I will release details on the game I had withheld for the sake of suspense and excitement. If you are interested in continuing where I had left off, I give you full permission to use the ideas and put them in your own Undertale dating sim.

I will also direct you to two other Undertale dating sim projects: Underdate and Undertale: The Dating Sim. If you were interesting in contributing assets, please give that talent to them instead. They need it more than I do now.

For now, though...

I want to rest.

Is your computer failing? Is that why you may need to pass the project to somebody else? I would donate money just so you can fix your computer for this project :(

I don’t know if I’d be able to accept donations though...My family doesn’t have much but I’m sure we can get the money to afford a new computer after a while.

It’s true he might not mind, but at the same time using assets from other games isn’t really regarded very highly when you’re making a game, free or not. I’d also like to keep this feeling like an unofficial game completely unrelated to the Undertale team in order to respect Toby’s wishes.

I'm totally cool with quasiplatonic routes but I'm very confused what it is exactly? I'm sorry I don't want to sound rude or come off as annoying ;-; I tried googling what it was but I couldn't understand. I would really appreciate if you could explain what it meant, or examples of how it will turn out (like, does it mean platonic hugs or kisses? are there any kisses in this game?) im so sorry aaaa thank you for your time;;

It’s a little hard to explain without conventional terms...hm.

It does involve platonic affection. It’s basically a relationship more intimate than a friendship, but it isn’t exactly “romantic” either. It still gives you those warm fuzzy feelings of being with someone you’re close to, but you don’t see them as a “lover.” Does that make sense?

Lately my creativity has been a bit kaput so progress is slow. My friend’s helping me get my creative juices flowing back with short story collabs though so hopefully I’ll start working a little harder soon.

Writers come up with the entire route. I will give suggestions to help you along and of course tell you stuff that people want to see so you can get an idea of how it can appeal to everyone.

Hi, uhh... you said a while ago that you can't use voice bleeps because it'd be a violation of some sort? Can you explain that to me?

I can’t use the exact same voice bleeps from the game because that would be stealing assets from Undertale. I would have to make my own voice bleeps/find free sounds that are similar to the voice bleeps.
