Sacred objects (figures) of Haitian Vodou, popularly referred to as Voodoo, made of sequins & found doll parts from c.1970. They probably relate to the Ghede, a family of Ioa, or spirits, embodying death & fertility, whose traditional colors are black & purple. In Voodoo culture, death is seen as the great transition to the afterlife and ultimately reincarnation.
