$5.00 Saturday night circa 1977: $1.65 for a 6 pack (usually Miller), 99 cents for a pint bottle of "Tango", 55 cents for a pack of smokes, 79 cents for a large bag of chips, $1.00 to chip in for the drive in cost. Always $5.00 a carload with free mosquito coil. Good fun, good music, good friends, and really good times!

What is the appeal of Penauts?

I’ve watched many of the specials in this franchise and have never been able to enjoy them. It’s so unfunny, mean spirited and depressing.

Almost all the characters (with the exception of Charlie Brown, Linus, Marcie and Schroeder) are insufferable assholes to Charlie Brown for little to no reason, even though he is a nice, friendly and determined kid.

And watching Charlie Brown constantly failing at everything, never succeeding, never succeeding at anything, with all his failures and failures and calling him a loser, failure and block-head, blaming him for everything, criticizing and making fun of him. any small mistake he makes is just exhausting and frustrating.

Charlie Brown is too pure for this world. These kids don’t deserve a friend like him. Sally doesn’t deserve a brother like him and Snoopy doesn’t deserve an owner like him.

Peppermint Patty has always been nice to Charlie Brown, she even has a crush on him. Wilson and Pig Pen are also nice to him. In many cartoons Snoopy hugs him and shows his love. Lucy is mean to everybody but does try to help him in her psychiatrist booth. The other girls(Violet & Freda just follow her lead. The fact he keeps trying makes him a winner not a loser.
