One day someone is going to hug you so tight, that all of your broken pieces will stick back together.

Sleep
Do you know I’m scared to sleep?
I’m scared of the darkness but I can’t sleep in the light. I don’t know why I can’t seem to just close my eyes and snooze.
I’m scared of my feet dangling off of the ledge thinking back when I was a little girl the monsters reaching for them.
I’m scared to sleep.
And sometimes I lay here and weep. For hours or at least that’s what minutes feel like. When I close my eyes all I see is reoccurrence of bad memories, over and over and over.
I’m scared to sleep.
But then I fantasize about sleeping forever and how one day I’ll close my eyes and it’ll be blank. No memories, no dark or light. Just endless sleep.
I am scared to sleep.
My life is a struggle between my need for acceptance, my fear of rejection, and a desire to not care at all.

I am not a writer. I just write.
When you first decide, hey I'm going to start journaling but not really but really. But, still want to put it out there to the public because why not? Someone else is feeling this way, right? I feel this is more of my reflection of the people I come across or maybe not even come across but see. I guess this is the story of the people I help. or we help. this is them in a more elaborate way but yet private. How to share their stories and not put a face.
I don’t know why I chose to do this. It's honestly my most hated question. “why do you do this?” I mean why don’t you? See I help our unhoused neighbors. why I do it, is a million dollar fucking question because I don’t have an answer. I fall in love with everyone I meet. I remember their name, their features, their birthdays, their favorite food and so much more. I dream about their journey, I dream and try to see why they are here in my path. Sometimes they don’t need me, but I need them. I have never felt so human and alive around people than when I do when I am around them. I guess this is just a long thank you to them for making me smile every time I see them, for making me feel loved when they feel like no one loves them. For making me feel apart of their family when their families might not want them.
I don’t know how I will post their story. But I will. Because the world deserves people like them and to know they exist.
