Goodbye HQ
Grant looked back at HQ and smiled, adjusting his cap over his eyes. While he had swapped out his uniform for a sweater and some jeans, he kept the signature black hat. No other suited him quite as well.
Killer turned his nose back to the building and squeaked sadly as his Trainer carried him down the mountain path. "Don't worry, buddy, we'll come visit. They'll have another power outage soon enough, you'll see." Grant laughed to himself and kept walking, eyes cast to the ground.
Just a day ago he had put in his resignation forms, collected all of his savings and given back his uniform. He'd lingered in the halls for nostalgia's sake and stopped by Blue's door for a few moments too long.
"I'll be back, Miss Blue. In a little while here, when I've got a job all set up and squared away working for the Day Care. I've got the funds to start living on my own and working now, but soon enough I'm gonna own my own place. Then I'll drop by with something real to offer you, y'know?" A trademark chuckle, a scratch on the neck, and Grant was gone.
The rocks rolled down the path as he walked, falling at steeper and steeper inclines. "I can see the Pokemon Center, buddy!" Grant called out happily, hopping down a couple sequential ledges to save time. Once he landed in the tall grass, the finally ex-Grunt tossed his remaining Pokeballs in the air and watched them open with gleaming sparks of light. Catty, Smokey, Zap, Mr. T. and Jenna all emerged, running off cheerfully into the brush.
Grant straightened up and took his hat off, placing it on Killer. He was on his way!
