i have such a love for characters who descend into madness or villainy out of deep, deep empathy. characters who fundamentally cannot cope with the cruel realities they find themselves in and blow up about it in spectacular fashion. fallen angel type characters with tears of outrage in their eyes. characters who break before they bend, and break so badly they splatter blood all over their noble ideals. every variation on it gets me so good

deconstructing geto suguru’s clothing and the symbolism behind it

Geto’s clothing closely resembles the ceremonial robes of buddhist monks during the Heian period. This Heian era is also known as the golden age of jujutsu sorcerers and when Ryomen Sukuna was recognized as the king of curses.

Coincidentally, the rise of esoteric buddhism in Japan also occured during the Heian period. Jujutsu Kaisen is deeply connected to buddhism, the most notable example is that quotation of Buddha by Gojo.

“In the Heavens above and on the Earth below, I alone am the honored one.”

Now let’s deconstruct Geto’s clothing.

i. the first layer: undergarments:

The undergarment (usually white) helps to add an elegant look, as the collar can be seen beneath the outermost layer. It is constructed of the tabi (socks), the momohiki (long pants) and the hada-juban (undershirt)

ii. the foundation garment: a folded towel is added to the waist area (for women it’s added to the breast area), the foundation garment helps to add some shape to the clothing

iii. the second layer: nagagi or the kimono foundation

iv. the third layer: the hakama ( either full-cut trousers or seperated skirt ) and the haori (hip or thigh length jacket)

v. the outermost layer:

We have arrived to the most interesting part of Geto’s outfit, which is the outermost layer.

The vest-like garment Geto wears is called the 五条袈裟 or the gojogesa.  The term gesa in China and Japan refers to the outermost layer itself. In the the later periods of Japan where fine fabrics were available these robes were made using strips of said fabrics. The distinction between these robes was by the number of strips, hence gojogesa = 5 strips of fabric.

Now, Geto’s is goal to eradicate all non-sorcerers. This would also bring a so-called second golden age age of Jujutsu, so it makes sense that he would return to the clothing of the Heian period.

I hate whoever said "since Mel's theoretically and literally a mirror then it was about Viktor all along" because now gay Jayce won't leave my mind

been saying this since day 1 specifically because OG league Jayce is built all around VIKTOR being the only person who ever stands out to him and is special to him while he pays no mind to anyone else. It's always Viktor who fundamentally changes the way Jayce thinks about himself & the world & the things he's attracted to (ideologically, literally, in the context of dreams and work and romance)

It seems pretty significant to me that in season 2 we have Jayce meeting with Mel again and completely rejecting her touch, shutting down their previous relationship and bringing up the economic manipulation that took place, and saying "I've changed." / "I've been confused about a lot of things." while the camera pans down to the gem Viktor gave him embedded in his arm. It reads like comphet.

They are addressing the way her empath/mirror powers work. this is subtext. Also, that one shot of apocalypse Jayce looking into the fire and watching the flames burn away mel's visage to reveal a specter of viktor with his lips parted................ that's loaded.

Again when cait asks him "Viktor is at the center of all this, isn't he?" jayce has a flashback of viktor SMILING DOWN AT HIM we never saw in ep6 and in season 1 this same type of character-reread scene was given to caitvi, implying THEIR romantic feelings. Vi remembers cait in bed looking much more vulnerable than previous footage. this is loaded! This is romantic! It matters to me!!!!!

You can have your own hcs I'm not saying this is the law but considering OG game jayce was molded out of viktor's lore ribs and designed to match and advance him in every level I've always read him as gay and the story in s2 really, really builds up to it. They even got us throwbacks to his original bio/demeanor. Jayce makes his ultimate choice and it's Viktor. Jayce says Viktor is worth more to him than his life-long dream. that's wild.

So what was Ouma's end-game in Chapter 4? If, as you say, it wasn't to have everyone but Gonta die, then what was it? Was he trying to break the Killing Game in a similar way to Chapter 5? Or was it more that he wanted to show everyone that anyone (even Gonta) could kill and this was meant to make them less trusting? His rant at the end gives off the impression that things have gone wrong, but if it was to break trust, didn't it work- albeit a bit more complex than he'd have liked?

Well his primary objective in Chapter 4 was to stay alive. Rather than trying to get everyone but Gonta killed, it was actually tokeep as many of the group alive as possible. But as it turns out, keeping himself alive and most of the group alive was a much harder task than it sounds.

What most people fail to acknowledge about Chapter 4 is thatthings began going wrong the moment Miumade up her mind to try and kill Ouma, not when Ouma countered back. Becauselike every culprit who consciously makes the decision to attempt murder in theDR series, at the very moment Miu decided she had to get out of the school nomatter what it took, she also decided she was willing to sacrifice everyoneelse’s lives in order to do so.
