Like A Mirror || Thompez
Haley had heard of the word doppelganger. She also had heard that there was always someone in the world who resembled someone else, like the celebrity lookalikes she’d seen in those magazines she pretended she didn’t leaf through. Somehow, however, she doubted that the doppelganger would be an exact reflection of her. So was the case with Lana Lopez. Same dark eyes, same tanned skin, same build.Â
(There was a chance that the word doppelganger meant mirror image, but she couldn’t think straight.)
Something wasn’t adding up and for some reason, asking her mother just seemed...wrong. Haley couldn’t place her finger on it.Â
Do you know who you are? Do you know who I am? Do you remember me?
Haley couldn’t answer any of those questions. She was Haley Thompson, or so she thought. She tried to clear her mind as she walked down the hall, but she couldn’t quiet the roar of her beating heart that raced in her chest. It took a few seconds to work up the courage to knock on the door and during those few seconds, she honestly considered running. There was one thing that kept her in her place and it was that one thought in her head that kept her awake at night and would continue to do so until she did something about it.
She had to know.
