In a package with no returning address lies a short note and a few items: a Wind Cloak, a Melody Bottle, a Light Crystal, a Healing Potion and 5 50% Off Coupons. The note reads: "I know you'll find some use for this, friend. Especially since the coupons since you're a cheapskate! -Kyle"
âHuh?â Kiel opened the package curiously when it arrived at his doorsteps one morning. At first he thought it was a mistake, but he actually knew who the sender was. The only question that lingered in his mind was: Why? Is he going away again?
He and Kiel werenât close, but he knew Kyle was a traveller and only arrived at the islands to beat a dragonâŚÂ
âThank you.â He said in a whisper as he took out all the items from the package and stored it in his inventory.

âŹâŹÎšâââââââﺤ Kyle is walking around the halls of the academy, still not used to his new job as an instructor but for his class, itâs mostly just⌠well, demonstrations. He knows a few theories but at the end of the day, whatâs most important is application and he at least knows a lot about that part of his field.
As he makes a turn, he spots a blond boyâ no, manâ approaching. There were a lot of people that went to the academy, but Kyle actually knows this person, so he waves immediately and calls out to him.
â Heeyâ Kiel? Kiel right? â He doesnât know the young summoner all too well, but Kyle remembers him from that summoning fight they did together. Looks could be deceiving and Kiel certainly blew him away with that display of magic. â Itâs me, Kyle! How are ya? â -âââââââΚâŹâŹ
Kiel was behind his studies and that frustrated him a lot! Heâs normally not like this but life kicked him right in the butt and made him fall behind his classes. The horror!Â
Thankfully, that was about to change now that he has more control of his time. Better late than never! Or at least, thatâs what the books say...  He still has a few more courses to take before he can finish his scholarship, but hopefully the college can wait for him.
He just got out from one class and planned to head back home when he hears someoneâs voice-- a familiar voice. He turned to see it was the same red-haired man that accompanied him on his fight to get Alexander.
âHuh? Kyle? Oh, Kyle!â Kiel forgot his name at first, funny considering their names could easily be swapped for one another, but a quick reminder was all he needed to remember everything fully. He approached the man with a friendly grin and gave a short update, âIâm just here for classes. Iâd hate to waste the scholarship I got but I admit to falling behind a bit, aha ha...â Before Kyle ended up pitying him, he cheered himself up, two closed fists pumped up in the air, âBut Iâm picking myself up and aiming to finish everything! I just need to exert a little more effort this time around!â
It was an average day at the Historical Society and Kiel is happily indulging himself with a good book. He finished all of the sorting that needed to be done and the lack of other people apart from his fellow employees gave him some time to read-- yay!
Seated comfortably in a couch, Kiel kept his face buried in a book until the door opens and reflexes make him look up. âGood morning! Welcome to-- oh!â
Fixing the falling pair of glasses from his face (not that he needed them, he just found this pair recently and thought it made him look more mature!), Kiel stood up, closed his book shut and greeted the familiar face, âOh! Hi Arthur! what brings you here?â With a cheeky grin, he added, âNotice anything different? He he.â
Right before going back to Arcadia, Kiel decided to do some quick grocery shopping at Leudaâs supermarket. Just for a change and to have more options. They could have cheaper prices for cake, too!Â
Kiel happily grabbed a cart and began wandering around the supermarket. He usually had a list but with this impromptu shopping, heâs left not knowing where to start.
As he turned to aisle 5, his cart turned sharply, almost hitting a passerby. âS-sorry!â Kiel turned his cart around just as fast to avoid the collision, but he completely failed to see the pyramid of cans right beside him.
   CRAAAASH!!!!
Down goes the cans, leaving Kiel totally horrified at the sight of falling cans. Not the best way to end the day... âOoops...â
Alicia turned to the door with a hand on her hip and a smile on her face. Her favorite walking advertisement had returned.
âOf course it will.â
Kiel was her favorite for a reason. Ever since he first stumbled upon her shop, he had been a great help with advertising and running other bothersome shop tasks. His eagerness to spread the word and willingness to gossip were only a few of her favorite qualities about him.
âWho doesnât love a beautiful woman and her cute little sidekick?â
Kielâs smile widened at her affirmation and compliment. He prided himself in being helpful and to hear it from Alicia was like having chocolate cake after a long, stressful day! âHe he he... thatâs true.â
He laughed cheekily and sits somewhere nearby, glad he can rest after all that walking. âI think even without the advertising, customers would flock right in! I mean, who wouldnât want their fortune told?â He tried to think of a few reasons but apart from cynical people, his mind drew a blank. âAlthough Iâd hate to know Iâll be unlucky...â
Kiel grew worried at the thought, suddenly feeling frightened for himself. If ever he has a series of bad luck ahead, heâd want to know. â...y-youâll tell me if Iâm unlucky right, Alicia?âÂ
Kiel got too immersed last night as he read about a book he borrowed for some âlightâ reading. It spoke of the history of of the elven kingdom and how they survived through the years. While they have become much more scattered, their culture remains rich and strong as ever: in fact, it took Kiel the whole night just to read them all.
He planned to returned the book first thing in the morning. So off goes the little blond scholar to the library. He handed the book back, much to the surprise of the librarian. And since heâs already there, he took another book and began reading it once he found a nice spot in the library.Â
The first few minutes that pass was the same old thing. He skimmed through the summary and began reading. But after the first half-hour mark, Kiel could feel his eyes droop, his head bobbing along as exhaustion strikes. Soon, he succumbs to the temptation of resting his head on the wooden table where his book should be, not his head.Â
The last thing his mind tried to think of were the consequences that came with sleeping in the library. Too bad for his mind, his body was one step ahead and was already sleeping. â...zZzz...â

Two college instructors and two promising scholars go on a quest to challenge Alexander, the Holy Guardian. 600 EXP is awarded to everyone after their fight. Kyle receives LIGHT CRYSTAL, and Wizard receives a SUN STONE.Â
After his shift at the book store, Kiel decided to pay his friend a visit at Bell Hotel before he goes back to Arcadia. Maybe heâll just catch the last boat back? Kiel wished he had more cake to share, but this time around, he only had candies. Accidentally spending his tuition money on cake would be a nightmare...
When he arrived at Bell Hotel, he immediately heads for the room he frequently visits. He knocked a few times and waited patiently. When the door opens, he was prepared to greet Lillie with a bright smile-- only to see another short haired girl, but with green hair instead of brown.
âEh?â Kiel tilts his head a bit, wondering who she was. She was smaller than him-- a miracle considering he was one of the short men there is in pelago! âDid I get the wrong room? Is this room G07?â
âAlicia! I went around town and advertised the shop like you asked! I told them theyâll meet the most beautiful woman in the whole of Arcadia, he he.â Now, Kiel usually went for rumors, but that wasnât exactly a rumor and he was being truthful this time!
He heads back in the fortune shop and takes a seat somewhere, a little tired after running around talking to every stranger or friend he meets. The blond wasnât very physical and this was the most he could do for the day. âYou think itâd work? I told the girls they might have a chance of finding their true love, too! They were more interested than I expected...
[đ¤] â Lillie gives a light laugh, stepping aside to give Kiel room to enter the room. âIt depends! Good surprises are delightful, and the bad ones, well⌠you know. Arenât.â She closes the door once heâs inside, turning back to him with a smile. âBut this surprise was a great one, so yeah, Iâd say it was a total success. Bonus points for the cake, too~â
While Kiel goes to set the cake down, Lillie heads to the kitchen for some plates and utensils. At his question, she nods, humming loudly in affirmative. âElise? Iâm sure she would love to join in, but sheâs out right now, Iâm afraid. We should save her a slice or two for when she gets back, though.â
Once the utensils and plates are acquired, the brunette rinses and dries them off, approaching the table and setting them down. One plate for him, another for her. Two forks, and finally a knife, to slice into that deliciously rich and creamy chocolate cake. Licking her lips, she takes the knife to the cake and cuts the first slice, placing it on Kielâs plate just as he told her his news.
âOh, really? Thatâs great!â She responds delightedly, moving to cut her own slice, âIâve started taking classes there myself lately, so we can totally study together and hang out! Just imagine itâ sweets filled study sessions.â
As Kiel gets served some cake, his eyes lit up. Even more so at the mention of Lillie taking classes, too. It's more relaxing to dive into something new with a friend. "I would LOVE that! And if we get more friends from the same class, we can invite them too!"
That definitely hit the spot for motivation. Kiel should cut back on the expenses for sweets, but as long as he doesn't go bankrupt and he doesn't spend ALL his money, then there shouldn't be a cause for worry. For now.
"What classes are you taking? I'm focusing on my History classes, but I'll be taking some summoning and elemental mage courses on the side. I met the Dean of Magic the other day and she urged me to take them!" He says this fondly as he remembers his new friend.
"She's my neighbor back in Arcadia and she said she can give extra summoning help if a student wishes." With how weak Kiel currently is, he needs all the help, especially from a pro. "I don't have one yet, but when I get stronger, then maybe...!"
âOh, trust me. Iâm worried. Unlike what you might be thinking, Iâd rather be inside right now instead of being locked outâ not that the surprise company isnât worth the trouble.â She adds in that last bit, not wanting to shoo him away. It was good to at least know some of her neighbors. The only one she knew from the inn was her former workmate. âI would, but Iâm in a dilemma, you see. Do I bother doing it now, or later when I come back with breakfast? I could always just leave now to eat and come back later, but itâs always more reassuring to resolve a problem sooner than later.â
Frey realizes she might be confusing the man, but she doesnât take back what she just said. It was true, and right around now sheâs already contemplating of just cooking whateverâs left in the fridge should she manage to get in. Heading out now seemed more troublesome. She listens attentively when he explained why he approached her, glancing towards where he was pointing only to realize he might have been roommates with her former workmate. She doesnât mention it yet, however, since he was still speaking and what he said last amused her enough for her to laugh. âI donât just go to Leuda for bookshopping, you know! Although that is interesting, if it were true, ha ha!âÂ
Freyâs laughter dies down, and she makes sure to explain herself, âI work and live in both islands. Rent is double, but work makes up for it. Constantly travelling between islands can be tiring, so having an option to stay in either island is a major relief for me.â Plus, she quite likes the flexibility of her current work and living arrangement. It made meeting people much more easier, and her resources doubled, too. It was hectic, but it had its own rewards. âIâm sure you and your roomamte can relate, too. I used to work with him, actually. For Pelago Express? In fact,  I think I still owe him an apology for quitting right when he became the boss.â
Kiel is starting to think this twin-tailed woman was too carefree. The more she talks, the more Kiel confirms his thoughts. He would have went straight away to seek help, but her way of thinking does making him curious. He wanted to point out how she was acting so weird over the whole thing, but in a way, there was jealousy present. She didnât seem to care what others would think of what she was saying and spoke freely. The exact opposite of how it usually goes for him.
âYou are a little weird, arenât you?â He takes a page from her book and just speaks his mind. It feels weird to do since it might cause her to dislike him, and so he takes it back right away. âI mean you should be worried about yourself more! You might get locked out here for too long.â
Her sudden laughter to what he said surprises Kiel, and this made him embarrassed: a tint of a blush appearing on his pale face. âW-whatâs so funny?â He felt self-conscious and scratched the back of his head. Only when her laughter dies and she explained itself did it dawn on Kiel that it wasnât because he said something bad, he was just wrong. He reconfirms once more that this girl is too carefree. She rents twice as much! âWow! On both islands... I work in both islands too, but I only live here in Arcadia.â
The mention of his roommate makes Kiel feel like this woman is a little less than an acquaintance but slightly more than a stranger. âOh, you know my roommate! I do recall him mentioning working there but I didnât catch him mentioning being the boss... huh, you might know him more than me.â Kiel chuckled a bit at that and came up with an offer, âMy name is Kiel Wagner. If you canât decide on what to do at your current dilemma, would you like to stay over at my apartment in the mean time?â
She didnât seem like a very scary person, and she made for a good conversation, as strange as Kiel thinks of her and her current lifestyle. He might even learn something from her. âOh, and you can apologize to my roommate too once he comes back~â He chuckled once more, only teasing. âSince weâre neighbors and all, I feel it would benefit us both to become acquaintances at least. Especially for situations like these!â
