@unlikelyloverunknown
kind of a deja vu thing we got going on, huh?
I find it interesting that when Weems calls out Wednesday for having feelings for Tyler, the camera then pans to Wednesday aggressively putting a stopper on a flask OVERFLOWING with some sort of gas.Â
Might be unrelated but I remembered the first time Wednesday and Tyler met, and how there’s a cloudy wall of gas/steam between them (which could mean nothing).
Anything else you're trying to stopper or bottle up there Wednesday?Â
Chained up Tyler this, monster Tyler that, how about cute barista Tyler? huh? How about the Tyler smiling nervously at the Weathervane customers before frantically trying to find what’s wrong with the coffee machine.Â
Look at him with that awkward smile like “hehe sorry about that could you just give me a min”
Can’t believe I missed the absolute gem of a fact that Tyler literally moved up of Wednesday’s to do list lmfao
Like she didn’t deny the “i thought we liked each other” comment and really just said “hold your hormones, let me lock in on this case first” and when Xavier was arrested she was out there speed walking to Jericho to make that curly haired barista HERS.Â
Girlie was hyper fixated on that case, constantly on edge for days and unable to truly enjoy Tyler’s company. The RELIEF she must’ve felt when she thought she had solved it that she rushed to catch Tyler’s closing shift to put him out of his misery because he’s apparently been pouting to Bianca about not being Wednesday’s boyfriend.
“I need to prioritize”Â
“Give me a call if I ever move up your to do list”
Xavier in jail, monster case closed, next priority is her doe eyed loser. Where were they? Ah yes Tyler was making that mistake before they were so rudely interrupted. Let me tell you rn Wednesday Addams walked in that night at the Weathervane with A PLAN the way she stepped forward and kissed Tyler. She’s gonna get that first kiss box checked, shaded, and strikethroughed and it’s with THAT HIMBO.
You + Enid Die TonightÂ
Tyler honey, you had Enid Sinclair cornered in her human form with a sword that could wound you as much as splinter can on a night without a full moon, but instead, you chose to turn around to the voice of your nonchalant ex and drool, growl lowly while maintaining eye contact as she admits her feelings for you.Â
Tyler Galpin you’re so embarrassing if I were Laurel Gates I would’ve just promised you that you’ll have Wednesday again (and that second kiss) to stop you from killing me.Â
Tyler when Wednesday was attracted to him as a normie with a penchant for mischief in his past as schoolyard bully, but didn’t aggressively make out with him after finding out he was a murderous serial killing monster:
Not so friendly reminder that Laurel had to concoct drugs, do an extensive research on Hydes, and perused books on outcast study in order to be able to groom and control Tyler. But the thing is, when Weems impersonated Tyler, she never doubted it and didn’t find it fishy that Tyler told Wednesday everything and was siding with her (Wednesday literally said “he’s not on your side.”) Laurel only continued to manipulate him with that mommy talk saying “the outcasts made you a monster” like Tyler still has those moments of doubt and she knew exactly what to do about it. The fact that Laurel still wasn’t 100% entirely confident in Tyler’s loyalty (that she’s got a “hey-look-at-me” deranged pep talk at a ready), makes me wonder how many times Tyler tried to escape her control until she managed to successfully subdue him with all the brainwashing methods and repeated physical and psychological abuse.Â
Might be a reach (not really) but I think that Enid—being the most genuine & understanding character in the series—would be one of the first people to forgive Tyler if she actually witnessed the whole picture of his situation.
Enid was able to forgive AND befriend Agnes—someone who threatened her LIFE just because she wanted to gain Wednesday’s favor (and that was even before she knew about Agnes’ complicated home situation). Even when Enid hated Agnes, she was extremely worried about her when she decided to spy on the Galpins.Â
Agnes targeted Enid because she wanted to replace her as Wednesday’s friend, Tyler only attacked her because she got in the way of his master’s orders. Are you telling me that if Enid Sinclair knew that: 1.) Tyler was chained and drugged into unlocking his Hyde, 2.) groomed and forcibly tethered (chemically and psychologically) to follow the orders of an older woman who took advantage of his lack of maternal figure, 3.) then finally have his mother back only for her to be physically abusive and tried to strip him off his bodily autonomy—she would still be antagonistic towards him?Â
Enid befriended Wednesday, Agnes, Lucas, her own ex, and complimented the girl Bruno was cheating on her with. She’s physically incapable of hate. If Tyler was a Nevermore student, she’d be greeting him with a “howdy hyde!” every morning.
I wonder if the staff in Willow Hill—knowing Tyler’s obsession with Wednesday because of him frequently mentioning her—ever tried to mess with Tyler sometimes (also as a way to teach some of his fangirls a lesson).
Willow Hill Staff suggestively: Galpin you have a visitor, a girl
Tyler: *already mentally rehearsing what to say to Wednesday*
*fangirl who has has “the hots” for the hyde walks in*
Tyler:
Tyler: I’m going to kill you, and your Uber driver
I think I finally figured out why Wednesday fell for Tyler in S1.Â
“You’re not scary, you’re just kooky”
Wednesday saw Tyler as one of the few people who truly considered and completely accepted her for who she is.
In season 2 during the body swap episode, Enid (as Wednesday) said that Wednesday is still somewhat afraid that Morticia couldn’t accept her for who she really is. Wednesday is a lot more darker and difficult than the rest of the Addams family, to the point that she believes her OWN mother couldn’t handle who she truly is as a person.Â
Wednesday hates how the school praises her mainly because they decided to box and label her as the “hero” that she wasn’t. All the "heroic" things she did was entirely self-serving and for her OWN benefit, it just happened to save the school along with it. Xavier claims to “be with her since day 1” but constantly dismissed her theories and couldn’t care less about the mystery she was trying to solve. When things turned ugly between them—with Wednesday unable to reciprocate his feelings—suddenly it’s “what’s to like? (about her)” and “You’re toxic, all you do is make things worse.” Like she wasn’t already bad news from the start??Â
Meanwhile, Tyler straight up just said “I believe you.” Then proceeded to help her and genuinely show interest in her investigations while looking like the most normal guy in town with his stupid flannel and fuckass barista job.Â
Even Enid wished she was a little “less Wednesday” sometimes and encounters difficulty with how harsh, dangerous and sociopathic Wednesday can be. But Tyler, on the other hand, never seemed to mind. He believed her theories when she thought she was losing her mind. Saved her from Sheriff Galpin in the woods because he knows she was investigating. Matter of fact, he was even the one explaining HIMSELF like “I know you’re a Nevermore outcast with a severed hand for a family member, but pretty please don’t find me weird for stalking my dad.”
Tyler smiled at the idea that she was obsessed with the monster in the woods rather than horses and boybands. Smiled at the fact that she threw piranhas in a swimming pool as a murder attempt (when even Ajax and Enid found it disturbing) while looking like an angel in his white tux. So yes, to a degree, Wednesday did sense the monster in him. She did fell in love with it.
Tyler knew Wednesday’s preferred color palette and made a dark chocolate cake. He knew she refused to be a “slave to technology” so he used traditional things like a lamp and an old film projector for their date. He knew actual horror or gore wouldn’t scare her, so he chose Legally Blonde instead. Held their date at a crypt because he knows she’s spooky like that. He KNOWS her and didn’t bat an eye. Tyler not only knew all her weird and dark quirks, he likes her FOR it. It was TYLER who was constantly trying to explain himself to her—why he stalks his dad or why he did that lousy prank on Xavier. In their dynamic, Wednesday never had to explain herself on why she’s the way she is. There were no “buts” to the way Tyler liked her.
When Wednesday reasoned that she actively put him in danger, he literally shrugged it off and basically said “Lol I’m tough and can handle myself.” Which must've been new because she’s aware that she had gotten people hurt for being close to her, and yet this normie remains unfazed and doesn’t even seem to notice all these “downsides” of being with her.Â
Of course, we can just all discard this as manipulation but even in their confrontation in S2, you can tell that Tyler just never really found her odd at all. He’s smirking at her in that cell spurting comebacks like “this could be us but you playin.” This time, he KNOWS that he’s one of the few people who can actually equal her darkness but it’s pissing him off that she refuses to acknowledge it.Â
Tell me why Tyler was able to quickly shove Ajax—who’s only milliseconds away from taking off his beanie, but somehow didn’t so much as flinch when Wednesday said “say hello to your new master.”Â
But what’s really funny is not even his lack of retaliation, but the fact that this mf then WHIPPED his head back and growled when his mom interrupted them like “ISTG WHAT THE FUCK IS IT THIS TIME—”
Flashbacks to Donovan interrupting their kiss and Tyler’s annoyed expression.Â
Wednesday, that boy was already yours before you even pulled out that syringeÂ
Unfortunately, the argument “He tried to kill her!” could never be used against this ship. Because even if you set aside the enemies to lovers and dark romance trope, baby girl let me tell you right now this is not Jade West, this is Wednesday Addams we’re talking about. Her character would interpret murder attempts as love confessions. You may not like such an immoral preference but that’s the point, the Addamses aren’t supposed to be liked. They’re satirical characters that are embodiments of everything eccentric and unconventional. Tyler’s sadistic nature only magnifies his compatibility with Wednesday. Even better, he’s a monster that needs a master. Gomez basically worships Morticia and would willingly die and k*ll for her. Addams women tend to have their men on a leash, and isn’t it convenient that Tyler is deteriorating desperately in need of one.Â
It’s so funny how you can literally see the flicker of panic in Tyler’s face in Willow Hill as Wednesday turns to leave. I can just imagine the internal monologue
Wednesday: this is a waste of time *turns around*
Tyler: WAIT no, don’t leave. Fuck her patience is worse this time it’s been too long
Tyler: NO WAIT MURDER I MURDER I KILL ENI—there we goÂ
I honestly find the whole Weyler x Wenclair fan war so funny just because of how unserious and unnecessary it all is. It’s not as deep as most people make it out to be—like no it’s not homophobia or “making everything gay” and no it’s not romanticizing toxicity. Both ships are valid because they’re really just a matter of trope preference. You like the grumpy x sunshine? nice! You’re into enemies to lovers dark romance? cool! You go love your sunshine character and I’ll love my morally grey one. I mean, no one’s winning anyway Jenna made sure of that.Â
