A sus 24 (y unos tantos mas) se dio cuenta que estaba lo suficientemente grandecita para seguir en la burbuja.
Decidio deshacerse de todos los mitos-utopicos-superfantasticos de justicia, lealtad y honor a la humanidad que aprendio en 4 anos de artes liberales que no le sirvieron de nada mas que para conseguirse un trabajo de cubiculo de 9-5 contestando telefonos y haciendo citas y cuentas para la agencia “X Corp.”
Los saco de su vida de la manera en la que un condon usado pudo haber sido tirado a la basura despues de haber cogido con alguien con quien tendras el placer de jamas cruzar una palabra en tu vida puesto a que le tienes asco.
Porque ni Jesus, ni Gandhi, ni el Che, ni Lennon, ni la Madre Teresa, ni Bono, ni la (bless her awesome soul) Angelina Jolie (…la lista es larga..) hicieron algo sin recibir nada a cambio. De por si Lennon hizo de la paz un negocio de la misma manera en la que la Madre Teresa hizo un contrato con un supesto Dios para darle una buena imagen de marketing a la gran venerada iglesia .
La mitologia-superfantastica-artistica liberal del siglo XXI: declarar “paz y amor”, declarar “resistencia”, abogar por el projimo, ser un buen samaritano, hacerse la paloma blanca.
Despertar: darte cuenta que eres un pobre ingenuo en un mundo en el cual todos quieren joderte. Todos quieren joderte y de la misma manera joderas.
La paz, la palomita blanca, la estrella roja, el puno revolucionario se joden los unos a los otros y que es lo que queda?
No quedan mas que cuentas por pagar y un mal chiste llamado “vida” que peor que jarabe amargo, te tendras que tragar.

You look back and traces of memory lead you back to the day when you chose this career, when you decided that this would be the rest of your life. You look back at that moment, at 'the' memory, and you realize that he only existed in the web -and your imagination. Although this person was real for a week or two during your early adolescence, you realize that you have been trying to find this "made up" person in others. Until the day arrives, he came. He came in the form of the person whom you wished would be the one. And he is not only as close as you've dreamed him to, as you designed him to be when you where 14 or 15. He is more than you could ever imagined or asked, he was raised in distant lands, speaking a different language, living in a different culture, living a life so parallel yet so geographically distant than your own. He is real and little by little all those riddles you have been trying to answer all your life start to make sense. Answers and solutions blossom. You have never been as happy as you feel today. You feel invincible. You feel sublime. It's called love.
Don't quit, fight for it. I don't want to become another one in your list.

Music and Politics
Someone asked me recently how and why is it that I got involved in politics. I remember answering that I got involved out of anger. Out of my need to understand why I was "brought" here, out of my need to understand the history and politics of my own country, and later on, of my Latino (multi-cultural, really) community and then Latin America as a region. It's interesting. Listening to this RATM song reminds me that none of those supposed "explanations" can really explain the reason behind my involvement. It all really started with music. I was an infant when my two teenage brothers were listening to Alteranative Rock and Grunge. My involvement subliminally begun when I was 6 years old, living in a beautiful town in the suburbs of my beautiful Quito, Ecuador. While many other girls my age were busy listening to N*sync, Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera , my oldest brother who at the time was 16, would listen to Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden and how can I forget, RATM's "Evil Empire". So yeah. This is how it all begun. It all begun with music. Kids of the world BEWARE: Audiovisuals DO shape your mind. (Oh the irony, this is coming from a brainwasher. I mean, a designer).

I just want to be my own person and this, this place where I live, all this legacy, and family matters I have behind my back, around me , don't let me. It's suffocating. IT'S FUCKING SUFFOCATING. What do I need to do to get the fuck out of here? It's always the same enraging process: "i NEED TO GET OUT OF HERE"... nothing happens. I need to make something happen. I have all these ideas, all these thoughts, and I don't have a network to make them possible.
I am tired of seeing my mother. I am tired of seeing my uncle. I am tired of seeing my aunt. I AM NOT LIKE THEM. It's difficult. It's fucking difficult and I am really fucking tired of it. Really fucking tired of my mother's paranoias and neurosis. Really tired of her fucking stupid dependency on so much emotional SHIT. I don't want to be like her. That is one of the traits I most hate about her. Her emotional dependency of others and her sense of defeated victim. She's always a victim. She's always a pobrecita. I am also sick of my uncle and aunt. All they do is watch TV. He is stuck in construction jobs because he never found a way to leave his confort zone. She has been out of a job since September of last year, hoping for heaven to send her a "trabajaito" while she watches TV while laying over her big fat belly.
I feel out of place wherever I go. I am the college-educated, and not only that, but open-consciousness of a working class family. I question too much. I expect so much from myself and from others, I expect so much to make change. I WANT TO CHANGE. I AM CHANGING. BUT I CAN'T CONTINUE TO CHANGE WHEN I HAVE SO MUCH BULLSHIT AROUND ME.
Grunge spam alert because:
- it has been raining all day,
- it will be raining tomorrow all day as well,
- suddenly all these lyrics make sense,
- this AIN'T Seattle,
- even though I'm about to turn 24 I feel like I'm fucking 18 all over again.
Hell, even at 18 I felt I had it all figured out.
Benditos black days. I'm ready for sunshine (both literally and metaphorically speaking).
