I’m so annoyed at people that hate on someone’s creative journey. Creative outcomes can’t be good nor bad, pretty nor ugly, fat nor skinny. This wasn’t your regular fashion show, nor was it intended to be. This was a performance, entertainment at its finest, for the label freaks, this was performance art.
Although I have added a couple of those leggings and tops to my wishlist, the show wasn’t about the prêt à porter collection. To me it seemed like it was about living the moment and experiencing it with a multitude of people at the same time. I was about sharing the passion, love,inspiration and about celebrating beauty in all things. For me it was also a massive shout out to individuality and uniqueness. ALL the models looked so good, and it seemed to me that they were all handpicked by Kanye himself. Every single model there wasn’t your typical runway model but weren’t your average Joe either. They were so different from each other yet, together they formed a cohesive whole.
Whats more is that the show sent a message of inclusiveness not only by hosting 20 thousand guests, of which a good portion were the non-invited, ticked-purchased kind of guests, but also by live streaming it for free so anyone with an internet connection could experience it at the same time as Kanye. Kanye gets that pop culture is the one setting the trends now, the single thing with the loudest voice, the greatest pool of inspiration. So I even dare to say that this show was made for the people, by the people.
