Pather Panchali | Satyajit Ray | 1955 

The first episode of Satyajit Ray’s epochal Apu Trilogy (the third installment, The World of Apu, also screens this summer as part of our Deepa Mehta retrospective on Saturday, October 10 at 8pm), Pather Panchali is a poetic portrait of an impoverished Brahmin family living in rural Bengal in the 1920s.
