Zed and the Jeweled Protector in Legends of Runeterra
hoo boy did your girl wake up in a shit ass mood. anyways like this for a zed in your inbox, will probably be a meme or stupid one liner of some sort.
@vuikusen -;
THERE WERE MANY CURIOUS THINGS THAT HAD occurred in Zed’s 30+ years of existence, many that he had chosen to simply pass over and ignore for the sake of his own sanity. Some events, perhaps, should have required a certain reflection - but Zed was nothing if not determined to move forward and yet... that moment in the quiet woods, when he’d thought himself at death’s door in the most ignoble of ways. He remembers those lips as clear as day, the soft press of power and delicate feminine fingertips. Ionia was a place of magic, a land rife with creatures beyond even his understanding, and yet... He could not forget her.
The image haunted his dreams, his waking hours. Frankly, the memory was downright distracting and had he any sense at all he would have gone into one of the nearby towns, found a nice girl at a local tavern, and simply attempted to bury his curiosity in another body. But he did not, he could not. And that was what had brought him here, standing on the outer vestiges of the wooded grove, taut as a bowstring and wondering if this was perhaps not one of his more stupid ideas. He didn’t have them often, but oh when he did... Well, Shieda had gotten his idiocy from his teacher. It had taken weeks to track her, to discern information, to follow the scent of wild magic. And finally, he thinks he has done it.
Zed is silent as he moves, a wraith sticking to the shadows despite the shifting panels of sunlight through the branches of the cherry blossom trees near the wooded cottage. This place was something out of his storybook that the elder Kinkou members had read to the children in more peaceful days - enchanting and beautiful - but just as dangerous as the woman who occupied it. Ears remain open, golden eyes even wider, and he moves in. Zed does not ‘knock.’ He does not ‘walk up to doors’ and ask to be let in. This is no exception, despite the fact that he might as well been slipping into the belly of a beast, the ninja slips silently through a low floor window, and prays he has not made a perilous mistake. His voice is rough, as always, but lacking in it’s ephemeral intonation with it bare to the world. He wants to behold her with his full gaze, not encumbered by steel.
“ Come out, pretty creature. I am only here to offer my thanks. ”

open !
kayn coughs lowly, a glowing sheen of sweat covering his forehead. heat rolls off of him in a thick wave; his brow furrows in concentration, eyes rolling as he groans. “ 𝑰’𝒎 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒔𝒊𝒄𝒌. 𝑰𝒕’𝒔 𝒋𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒇𝒖𝒄𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒉𝒐𝒕. ”
“ You’re an absolute idiot. ”
GAUNTLETED FINGERTIPS SHOVE THE TRAY across the sideboard table towards him, the cup of tea accompanied by the salty aroma of warm broth. “ Shieda, I told you to wear a jacket. It is the dead of winter and there are no lusty maidens here to trip over themselves for your bare chest. This is what you get, fool. ” He doesn’t realize he’s nagging, but the way the Master of Shadows pulls the sheets back tighter over the other’s bed is at odds with his aggravated tone.
“ What kind of death would this be? There is no greatness in dying from the common cold. ”
ALSO Zed was crying at the end I didn’t catch it until I reread but that hurt me so much
made some new zed icons
^ a personal favorite.
thinkin’ bout zed’s arms
@finalwhispers asked: i am here now
does this
I finished the final Zed comic and I have so many feelings. I really enjoyed how it ended. Some may not but for me it was a really really really good tell to Zed’s character. And Kayn? Kayn is such a fucking gem.
@quartlet
THE RAIN NEVER SEEMS TO STOP FALLING here, an undiluted tide of smog and acidic moisture. The underbelly of the city did little to keep steel structures and pavement dry, but it did serve to send the rat citizens scurrying back into their hovels like disturbed wildlife. Prey, could of course, sense the arrival of an apex predator, even if he was as silent as the shadows and night sky itself. Where Zed walked, the inky blackness was impenetrable by light, casting the most ominous of shadows far, far into the alleys he slipped to and fro. People did not leave their homes. He encountered no one in the streets (not that they would have seen him). Zed was, for all intents and purposes, an omen of war and violence and death. He would eliminate his target, and he would enjoy doing it.
The pain in his back is phantom. He knows it not to be there, knows that the steady pulsation of agony is simply in his mind, but the mind has long since lost it’s fragmented touch with reality. He sees things as a hunter does, a wolf with the scent of blood in it’s mouth. Zed had long since been losing fragments of humanity with each augmentation but... with that blade to his back, the severing of flesh and cybernetic, it was as if an emotional connection to his mind had been cut completely, and PROJECT had not bothered to fix it. After all, morality and emotion were simply a liability.
Yet in a way, it had backfired. He could still feel - could still process complex emotion. But all that came out? Rage, oblivion, hunger. He still saw the visions He produced, the macabre programs and artwork with the same clarity of horror. Despite everything, despite Jhin cutting away the last vestiges of his humanity, the hacker’s work and betrayal still triggered a visceral, pained part of him. It was as if he had inserted the blade knowing exactly where to slice to ensure Zed could not forget that trauma.
And he didn’t. Not ever.
There is no point on sneaking up on Jhin, no point in appearing from the shadows as he would. Rather, heeled and sprung feet slip silently through puddles, up, up, up through an alcove, until he had reached the roof he’d been so meticulously monitoring. A gleam of red flashes beneath his helmet, blades thrumming with pent up energy - his own, inner essence fueling the power that had become him. Technology, sin, death... It had become his single-minded creation. He was the pinnacle of killing, a machine built for murder. And Jhin? Jhin was the one creation that still held the rationality of human emotion to him. He could not disassociate from their past, what he had done. For PROJECT - he needed to be eliminated. For Zed? Even more so. His voice comes out in metallic fragments, perfectly understandable, still silken and honey in tone, like a man who had once been impossibly attractive. Now all he cared for was death.
