Fic has been beta read three times over and I've finished tweaking it. I'm going in and making notes for illustrations. Here's a little sneak peek.

Proof of life. I’m switching over to an illustrated prose. I also kinda switched my approach to the story. It’s going to be a BoS playthrough, but as a gay romcom. I even named the first chapter Chem Equation.

I just had a couple of people beta read it and I’m cleaning it up now. I’m also working on the illustrations. Here’s a rough sketch for a scene with Danse taking a smoke break and eating Fancy Lads. There’s also a drawing of my cat.

Think I’m going to just rewrite the BoS storyline with Danse as my companion as a romcom. I’ll just have Nate make Danse feel like the prettiest princess in the Commonwealth.

Hey yo! Just a heads up, I have some stuff coming. I’ve been dealing with some personal stuff and I’m getting ready for a convention so I had to put this on the back burner. I’m editing the next chapter now. 💜

Notes:

Sorry that took a minute! I've been busy with work and another comic I'm working on.

Switching over to coloring digitally. Copics are really expensive.

This is going to switch over to a sort of mixed media project. I originally was going to do it entirely as a comic, but that was a LOT of work. Instead I'm going to do a mix of comics and illustrated prose. It just helps me tell the story without getting too bogged down. Chapters 4 and 5 will be prose.

Tl;dr the end of the quest When Freedom Calls. I'm yadda-yadda-ing a lot of the beginning of the game because it can get really tedious if I don't. The main plot is there to give me structure, but it's not going to be the main focus. For Nate, I'm giving a Cliff's Notes version of the beginning of the game and just focusing on introducing him as a character and briefly summing up his situation so we know his deal. And then I'll be moving on to Danse. (Just to give a feel for what my plan is.)

I have stared at SO MANY pictures of T-45 power armor. Guess I better get my practice in now before I move on to the metal guy.

Notes:

-My favorite blink-and-you-miss-it piece of canon is that Nate and Nora conceived Shaun in the park in Sanctuary Hills. It's not referenced in every dialogue option, but when they're in Shaun's room the nonplayer character will mention going to the park. Nora will mention getting pregnant again. Nate will say it happened a year ago. Whether or not they fucked on a picnic table is up for debate. I guess that's the headcanon I'm picking.

-Speaking of canon vs headcanon! I am trying to keep this comic as close to canon as possible. I have a permanent tab for a FO fan wiki that has been immensely helpful here. That being said, since I'm trying to fill in narrative gaps and sort of expand on other points there's going to be a lot of stuff that I have to make up. I will always try to make sure it makes sense for the narrative and makes for a good story. Also I will do my best to be forthcoming with what's canon and what isn't.

- FO4 really likes its dead wife trope. I'm trying to work with the canon while also making Nora an actual character rather than just a plot device to drive Nate. I'm treating her as a developed character with her own personality who continues to influence Nate and the decisions he makes in the comic. She still has a profound influence on Nate even if she's deceased. I always felt like with finding Shaun being the priority in the game, the player's dead spouse gets treated as an afterthought and I wanted to address that.

- Please understand I am an adult with a full time job and my own big comic project I'm working on. I'll try my best to keep a loose schedule and update regularly, but please understand that this is a side project that I'm doing for fun. I'm very passionate about it, but I do have my limitations.

- I'm a traditional artist. Everything's hand drawn and colored with Copic markers. That might change depending on finances and how busy I get, but that's how I'm playing this.
