this morning my dad told me that 2 bombs went off 6 minutes away from my home in egypt. i frantically called my friends and family to make sure they were okay. alhamdulillah they are safe.

“One bomb went off in Giza’s Haram district on the street leading to the pyramids, killing the officers and wounding three others, state-owned Al-Ahram newspaper reported. A second bomb in Kafr El-Sheikh killed one civilian motorist and wounded three police officers.”

“The attack on Friday, close to a government building in a middle class neighbourhood of Cairo, was the latest in a series of security incidents in Egypt often claimed by radical Islamists.”

“’The explosion was very loud. We thought it was an earthquake. The glass of windows near the area broke because of the severity of the blast,’ a witness told state TV.”

“Eyewitness Ahmed Al-Deeb described a scene of carnage, with dead and dying policemen lying next to wrecked cars.One of the policemen had blast fragments in his chest and two more had lost legs, he told Reuters Television.”

This is a continuing attack on Egypt’s military and police forces as well as its civilians. I’m incredibly heartbroken that there is barely any coverage on these attacks. It’s Egypt, right? A predominantly Muslim country, right? What was I expecting?
