07. notes on characterization:

my inspiration comes from wicked (2024); wicked: for good (2025); the wizard of oz (1939); the wicked and wizard of oz novels; and the broadway play, as well as my own headcanons.

i write glinda as a closeted lesbian. my glinda experiences compulsory heterosexuality and these feelings are not recognized until much later. i view glinda’s love and admiration for fiyero as purely platonic. i am a gelphie enjoyer, but i am interested in exploring every sort of dynamic between the two, as well as other possible relationships for glinda.

i love duplicates, and don't mind if other glindas follow me. i also am open to all other fantasy universes.

08. banned fcs include anyone who mocked megan thee stallion's assault, white-washed fcs, and zionists. i will not interact with hp or stranger things muses — even if removed from canon — and i am extremely selective with the scream fandom. otherwise, i will block if uncomfortable.

“yes,” glinda nods, words escaping her before she can good-ify them; before she can mask her expression, her tone, and the weight behind her thoughts, albeit incomplete ones. “yes, you were.” glinda breathes, eyes scanning over the silver tinned man's body — or, his figure? glinda wasn't sure what to call him, but she knew there was somebody in there: something human; something real; something speaking to her not as 'glinda the good,' but galinda — something she had not felt in a very, very long time. but . . . who was he?

glinda lets the question sit with her, nestling deeply beneath her ribcage and burrowing in her as she began to reinspect the figure. oh, what care must have gone into crafting this . . . ozian. ‘someone must have really cared for him,’ glinda thinks sorrowfully. ‘someone must really miss him.’ she swallows, the grief hidden behind her lips pooling into her stomach instead. ‘who are you? who am i? what are we doing here?’ glinda adorns a placid smile as the thoughts begin to reverberate. she hesitates, gently placing a hand on the man's arm. “and . . . what was that life like?”

From her clicking heels to her perfect hair, there's a new witch in town - she's THE witch to watch and that's Glinda. If you've been in Oz for any length of time and not been living under a rock, you will have heard all the great and good gossip about her. Not that we should ever hold up other people as being better than ourselves but Glinda, well, she just is better than us. We call it inspiration. You may call it fashion, style, trendiness or just mesmerising.

From the honors at the Quadling Quorum - no more important style venue has there ever been in the Big Green City - to her very own personal scent that will soon be available to purchase at good shops near you, Glinda of Gillikin is "that girl". She's our "it girl" or in fact our Gleaming Glinda of the Big Green City gal. She's spunky, she's pretty, she's whizzy and well dressed. But let's not forget what really makes a witch a great witch: she's talented and kind.

Without breaking stride, Glinda can go from conference to late night dinner with Fiyero, her beloved, and then straight onto the dance floor at OzDust (don't be shocked) to show us all how it's done. But, if you happen to be there before her, she just might join in with you for a learn-your-steps kind of fun. She's that kind of person: we call her wonderful.

Followed by her make-up and hair skunks Aimee-Puff and Nana-Slap, she always looks fabulous. She's an excellent example of how to look camera-ready at all times. As mentioned previously, she also smells fantastic; how Fiyero can leave her side at all when she's drenched in her signature perfume "Oh My Goodness", only goodness knows. The waft of her enters the room before her and lingers in a tantalizing cloud long after she leaves. When Glinda's been around, by Oz, you know it as do all your senses.

Glinda descends from royal nobility of the Arduennas and of the Uplands, they of Gillikin, one of the more desirable parts of Oz. She was educamated at Shiz University's Crage Hall, the most exclusive college ever in the whole of Oz and beyond. Although stunningly ravishing and ravishingly wealthy daughter of Highmuster Arduenna and Larena Upland, she is so approachable. As one of her animal servants snorted, "Glinda, she's just a breeze. You'll love her. We all do here." Her famous chaperone, Ama Clutch says Glinda is one of her proudest achievements: "Glinda, what can you say? There's only one of those made and then they broke the mold." She weeps as she says this, so moved by her student's great life and wonderful future, due, of course, in part to her care.

Glinda is more than a mere fashion plate. She's more than a trend-setter, make no mistake. She's the reason from which all beauty emanates. She's an inspiration not only to the children of OZ, but also to parents and grandparents. Her poise, her beauty, her energy and her kindness are shining examples of the perfect Ozian. As Glinda's press office says, "While Glinda acknowledges that no one is perfect, we can say that she herself is very nearly at that perfect spot." She always looks fabulous. What few people know is that Glinda is also very chatty and wise. She loves having a cup of tea with the elders of whatever neighborhood her press team ⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯

"Glinda's an Inspirification to all of Oz."

⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯ sends her. She adores nothing more than chatting with the shopkeepers and newsagents. Despite her gleaming personality, she's really just one of the normal people of Oz, only brighter. "I'm just an ordinary person," which is something Glinda says, according to sources close to the source.

All we can say is at Munchkin Gazz offices is that her official name may one day be Lady Glinda Chuffrey nee Arduenna Upland, but you can just call her Glinda next time you see her. She is not the kind of person who stands on ceremony: she is a ceremony on all her own! We love her!

"i suppose you have a point." glinda concedes. she huffs lightly, tossing her hair over her shoulder. oh, how she hates to lose a battle of the wits! "but . . . surely everything we know started off as an idea. who decides what ideas we follow, and what ideas that we do not?" glinda's brown eyes shimmer as a smirk forms. 'goodness knows that i can land on my feet!' she thinks, anticipatory joy fluttering beneath her chest. "i mean, what ideas spark such conversations as thrillifying as ours? i presume you must know plenty similar quandaries."

relief washes over glinda's features. her and fiyero's partnership had been terse as of late — she missed his friendship more than anything, longing for the days of early shiz when everything was light and bright and oh so fascinating. now, glinda has an image to maintain: a exaggerated caricature of her perceived moral impunity, all whilst unsure of who she truly was.

"that is ever so kind of you, fiyero." glinda admits, lips pulling into a bittersweet smile. she really must start thinking of them as a team again — glinda the good and prince fiyero! united in their plight of reforming oz for the better! or, at least she hoped that was still their plan. "you know everything here has been so confusifying lately. i just wanted to make sure that . . . that you were happy."
