Aït Sedrate from the mountain to the Aït Iddir; the women's hairstyle is similar in design to that of the Aït Sedrate women from the Draa, but much more elaborate. Thick wool is added to the braids, and they have a short, rounded fringe on the forehead. Volume is created with a double pear-shaped pad that supports the folded side braids and lifts them away from the head.

I think part of the reason why we feel so sad is that we're too far away from raw, numinous experiences. Like you know that post with a picture of the unpolluted night sky where people are reacting in terrified awe not realizing that's what the stars really look like?

I think it's like. You need vivid experiences that can't be easily repeated. You need elemental things. I don't mean this in a crunchy hippie just-try-yoga way I mean this in a way that's like...we're inside all the time and most things we experience are scheduled ahead of time. When there are sidewalks, we follow them, and there's always some boring place to go. You need things that no one has any control over and that no one can sell for money.

You need to be outside in a storm and see lightning strike very close to you. You need to meet a wild creature and have to stand very still and almost not even breathe and watch before it vanishes. You need to be alone somewhere very big. You need to go to a place because it looks interesting and be at the wrong place at the wrong time. You need to climb over a fence instead of going in by the gate. You need to hear the exploding sound of a huge flock of birds flying. You need to watch live theater performed by kids on a low budget. You need to be lost somewhere. You need to be barefoot somewhere. You need to sing with other people who are singing. You need to get soaking wet with all of your clothes on and come inside shivering.

its incredible how for centuries we have been able to talk about the follies of youth and how people may make decisions when they are young that are informed by inexperience (in the subject matter, in relationships, in communication, in navigating emotions, etc.) and that needs to be taken into account. without making it a whole thing about how if you are under 25 you are basically brain damaged.

and its crazy how many people will be like yeah the rise of fascism is so scary, so many people are at risk of losing their autonomy, the government really wants to expand its control over us and how we act and think, we're probably gonna see a rise in eugenics..... btw did you know that teens and young adults are basically biologically incapable of critical thinking. i love being immune to propaganda :)

#and coming at this from a psych background not only is the study that lead to that “not developed until 25” thing very flawed#there's basically no way you can disentangle the nature and nurture here#because brain plasticity exists#your brain structure changes based on experience and what you practice and what you do#and that process and any kind of purely biological maturation are happening at the same time#and really all this point is saying is “younger people are less mature/developed than older people”#and like. yes? you would expect that?#and i think that's an argument both for letting kids and teens have as much agency and control over their own lives as they're capable of#*and* that younger adults should have a lot more support available to them#just everyone in general honestly#someone could be 93 and navigating some aspect of life for the first time and support should be available to them too

Slumber was a performance/installation: whenever it was shown, the artist lived in the gallery, weaving during the day and sleeping with an EEG machine recording her Rapid Eye Movement (REM) at night. The REM is an analogue to Antoni’s dreams, and she weaves this pattern into the blanket that covers her bed while she sleeps. In this piece, an uneasy truce exists between contemporary medical technology, ancient myths of weaving and the mysterious world of dreams.
