To think that Xie Lian lived for centuries without anyone to talk while collecting scrap after his last fall, just to be ignored by the other gods in the spiritual communication array whenever he tried to start a conversation after his last ascension. And then Hua Cheng finally finds him and not only answers TO him but also remembers everything is said BY him, as if every word spoken by Xie Lian was worthy of his complete attention and not a mere pause in his own speech. Was in such simple details, — like being truly heard — that a man whose existence had always been about what he could or couldn't offer others, finally felt like he existed in himself, just as if who he is was more important than the state of him for the first time.
I think some of you people need to google amatonormativity… and like, think about it.
you can actually desire a traditional romantic relationship AND unpack amatonormative ideas within your mind and life. they are not mutually exclusive!
“paid subscription with ads” is fucking crazy. if you pay for a service and then get served an ad on said service you should be allowed to pipe bomb its executive at no legal risk

there is no better dopamine than finding out that one of the literal legend authors of your fandom kudoed your fic. like, yes, thank you, i might bite through steel with this power, i am going to die, happy. we exist to combust, just like the stars, you see.
social media has really warped our perception of creativity and hobbies. Stop doing things to post them. Just write. Just journal. Just sketch. Just read. Just annotate. Just sing. Just crochet. Just do the thing you’re going to do with the assumption no one will ever see or know you did it. Stop performing. Just enjoy it.
I understand the heart of this, and I agree that creativity doesn’t always need to be witnessed to be worthwhile. There is something deeply sacred about making privately, about writing or sketching or singing simply because your soul needs somewhere to put itself. But I also think we’ve flattened the conversation too much when we imply that sharing creativity automatically turns it into performance, or that posting your work means you’re only doing it for praise.
Humans have always shared what they make. We read poems aloud. We pass around books. We hang paintings. We sing in rooms full of people. We tell stories beside fires, at dinner tables, online, in letters, in journals someone might one day find. Art has always had a communal pulse. Sometimes posting is not about accolades at all. Sometimes it’s accountability. Sometimes it’s archive. Sometimes it’s connection. Sometimes it’s the joy of letting something you made leave your hands and find the people it was meant to find. I have always said: create because you love it, not because you want to be loved for it. But the problem isn’t sharing; the problem is when visibility becomes the only reason you create. Enjoying your own creativity and wanting to share it with others are not opposites. Being proud of what you make is not the same thing as performing. Let people make privately. Let people make loudly. Let people be witnessed without assuming their joy is insincere.
The Murderbot Diaries are a power fantasy about being aromantic and still developing extremely important dedicated emotionally intimate partnerships where you are a top priority in a person's life, equal to their other family or romantic attachments despite your own emotional difficulties. And having guns in your arms
imo you get the most out of engaging with media when you strike a balance between treating characters as people (reading interiority into their actions, considering the effect of various aspects of their identity, etc etc) and as vehicles for storytelling (what narrative purpose do they serve, how do their actions and personality function to convey the themes of the work, etc etc). because of course characters are literary devices but also there’s a reason we use literary devices written to embody realistic people in order to tell stories
Realizing the writing doesn't have to be done alone and is often more fun and more engaging when you're doing it with friends is a life changing experience.
I don't mean co-writing either. I mean having a friend or two who you talk through plot ideas with, who you bounce ideas off of, who you trust to tell you if something doesn't work.
Nothing is created in a vacuum and nothing can be created alone. Sharing drafts and ideas is a vital part of the creative process and it's a really fun part too.
Just a fun poll, I hope they both become canon though.
Choose one to become explicitly canon but the other ship will be left canon as they are currently in the manga.
