Fiona explains the song: ‘The Way Things Are’

I’ve been figuring that, statistically, there’s gotta be somebody out there or many people out there, that have somebody in their life who appears outwardly to be very very good and very devoted to you, but then when they got you alone and really quietly, they like, whisper the worst things in the world to you?  And everybody thinks they’re the nicest person in the world, but they’re really fucking torturing you the whole time?

This is song is my big step in getting rid of that person.

just if you’ve got one of those people that they do that, they are really nice in front of everybody and then when they’ve got you alone they whisper in your ear something really cruel, just please please please let me save you the time and recognise how stupid and cowardly they are.

The only way I could deal with that was to write this song about ‘I realise its wrong but I have no strength to get out of it right now, so I’m just going to write a song about how greaat things are’ because that’s exactly what I need it’s the only thing I can take right now…

Night 2, illustrate a song lyric. “Daredevil” by Fiona Apple. Her songs have always resonated with me. I didn’t have much time for this one, about 15 minutes. I hate to admit that I was already thinking of forgoing the idea of drawing every night for a month, on the second night. I’m sticking with it and following through, for me, even if no one follows me or joins in. I said I’m doing it, so I’m doing it! It’s not my best tonight, but that’s not the point.
