"She did, huh? Tch..." Power scoffed. As much as she have to obey and follow Makima's rules, especially being under supervision, she still couldn't bring herself to find much of a positive favor in that woman. And despite her finding Power and putting her amongst the work of Public Safety, she still misses her freedom regardless of keeping her living under a roof and food. Something just felt...icky about her. As much as she was teamed up to work with Denji and Aki, it was a little unusual to be paired with Violence. "...reminds me, aren't you usually working with the cowering female?"
Well, she didn't quite make close friends with most people in the Division other than just working with them when the time comes. Would it really be such a pain to pair up like this? And he did ask about hanging out after, as much as she could reject a ridiculous idea, maybe food would be involved too. Surely that's something she couldn't pass on when it sounds so tempting. "Alright. I suppose I shall accompany you with the task. Patrol, right? Perhaps time shall go by with haste until we do...whatever you deem to be a 'hang out'."
The fiend is quick to notice that she became more cooperative after name-dropping Makima. It makes sense, she is their boss. But somehow, it seems that, while Violence feels nothing but admiration for the Public Safety's leader, Power seem to feel fear. He wondered why...
"Cowering-...Oh you mean Kobeni? Yeah, apparently she came down with the flu or something. You know how humans are."
He shrugged, truth to be told, Violence hasn't seen her for at least a week, it was starting to get quite concerning. The male thought of visiting her to see how she's doing, but Public Safety forbids any fiend of visiting people without the proper permission.
Regardless, the male became ecstatic as he heard that she's accepted to hang out with him. "Oh, it will be awesome, trust me! I know this Yakiniku place that's just to die for!"
"You don't got much experience with daily patrols, do you? Well, you can count on me!" He points his right thumb to himself, his left hand on his hip. "I'm a master of wasting time until the shift ends!"
He signals for Power to follow him as he starts to walk, the eyes of his mask looking over the horned being. "Usually there's like a pear devil or a squirrel devil just roaming around being a nuisance! If we take like three of them, it's already halfway into our quota."
A chipper demeanour taking over him. It's so rare to be able to socialize with different co-workers, and, out of all the devils in Public Safety, Power is the one who fascinated him the most.
While other fiends live in secluded areas of the city by themselves, Power were settled to live with two humans. Why? What made her so special? The fiend was intrigued and a little bit envious of her.
"So... what is it like? To live with Denji and Hayakawa? They seem like cool people!" Violence curiously inquired, almost as if he wishes to relive his own memories of being a human and living with other humans. "Fiends aren't usually allowed to live with other humans, so I'm curious."
Even when he can't take his mask off to eat, does he at least get to be by himself to do so so he doesn't hurt anyone around him?
\\Hey! Thanks for the question!
Unfortunately not, in fact, if there's even a hint that he took off his mask when he was by himself, Public Safety is ordered to kill him on sight.
He can only remove his mask with the authorization and supervision of a higher-up Public Safety agent, and only 20 minutes a week, and if he tries to do anything hostile, they're permitted to use their contracts against him.
They only give him these 20 minutes a week so as to not buildup stress of wearing a poisonous mask 24/7.
@belovedblossoms
"Huh? Why would I remember you...?" She stared at him intensely, eyes squinted as she was even attempting to put two and two together with this guy. He said it's been a while...how long has it really been? But then it clicked: he did get to share some of his own food with her (reality she had snuck a couple of bites from his plate when he wasn't looking until he just gave it to her altogether). "Oh...OHH! Why yes, of course I remember--wait, do I owe you on something?? I don't have it!!"
"Ouch." The fiend exclaimed, at the girl's rather straightforward response, he couldn't really blame her for not remembering him, they've barely interacted at all, but you'd think being a tall birdman with a hoodie would make him stand out, it certainly did with humans, but probably not with a fiend.
It was... oddly refreshing actually.
The fiend raised his hands as he heard the girl talking about owing someone. She's pretty jumpy, huh? Violence wonders if he was that high-energy as a Devil.
"Oh, you don't owe me anything! I just wanted to know if you'd like to hang out after our job is done." Truth to be told, Violence didn't really have many friends within the Public Safety, Kobeni excluded.
The humans were afraid of him, and the Devils despised him, the only other creature he had an affable relationship with is Beam, and he's far too busy gushing over Chainsaw Man to care about anything else.
"I don't know if you remember, but Ms. Makima set us to patrol this area. " Galgali wasn't sure why Makima trusted two fiends enough to partner up without a human supervision, but the lady were always an enigma.
Extremely kind, but an enigma.
Although Galgali is mostly used for physical combat, he has another power that Public Safety refuses to use, and that is the ability to make people around him grow so wrathful as to start tearing each other apart in a 10 Miles radius.
The trigger for this, is Violence landing a physical attack on anyone.
That power were weakened when he turned into a fiend, making it a 5 Mile radius, but Public Safety decided to null it altogether alongside any urge to commit violence the fiend has, with the poison-filled mask.

Devils and friends! 📸✨
Angel couldn't sit with Aki his siblings were faster smh
---- Violence's patting earned him a satisfied huff from the smaller worker. Almost begrudgingly did she finally release her grasp and move to sit beside him. The knock nearly made her leap out of her skin, though! The fiend alone would see her GLARE at the doorway in response.
---- But, she'd been involved in all manner of problem-material as of late. Her paranoia had never been higher, since the pair of them had dealt with the Mirage Devil. She'd been targeted, once. And this was rather late for a house-call, wasn't it?
Her eye goes up to the peephole, and Mary regards the man on the other side. She had used some of her insects to type out her report on the day's events -- up to and including that the Violence Fiend was accounted for at her abode, and would be returned the following workday.
It had taken hours of her passive attention, coordinating dozens of beetles to print a piece of paper from a computer, to crawl to the printer, and carry said piece of paper to the proper place where it could be filed.
But --... was anyone even checking their emails at this hour!? There was too much that had Mary on edge about this situation. Everything was telling her that this should not be a place to let her guard down.
---- A chain was slid into the door, the bolts of its housings having been swapped out for longer, deeper screws for added stability. But if a devil was involved, who knew what would become of it?
The door opens, a tiny bit. A piece of paper slides out. [ IT IS LATE. AFTER-HOURS. PLEASE OFFER ID FOR CONFIRMATION. ] She waits first for the piece of paper to be taken, and awaits something to be returned. After all, such matters of internal discretion should not be asked across the threshold, now should they?
One of the men grabbed the piece of paper, gave a quick read and scoffed. It was clear that he wasn't really a patient man, in fact, his lack of patience was an obvious red flag that he shouldn't belong in the Public Safety, but ever since the Bomb Devil incident, Public Safety has been running quite thin, so they had to hire even people who wouldn't be hired before.
With a grunt he grabs his Public Safety Badge and shows it to the young woman looking through the door, he was legit.
"Mrs. Ouchi, our sources tell us that you're currently harbouring a fiend who have failed to fulfil his duties with the Public Safety. That's usually grounds for termination. But if you hand the Fiend to us, you'll get a simple warning."
The man bluntly stated, not even hiding anymore under the guise of questioning, preferring a more direct approach.
Violence heard everything that human had to say, which, made him fall in solemn silence. He was terrified for his life, but... if he didn't surrender, Mary would be the one to suffer the consequences.
What was he supposed to do?
"Mary..." He whispered under his breath to make sure no one else heard. "I should probably... give myself in..."
The fiend gave an amazed chuckle as he saw the mechanical arm pick the tape and handing it to the girl. He almost wished he wasn't doped out with mustard gas and filled with wounds right now, otherwise he'd be looking closer to her gadgets.
His attention is immediately brought back to the human figure amongst the machine, asking him if he wishes to eat something.
"Oh, um... I appreciate the offer. But I don't really eat, you know..." He pokes at the beak of his mask. "But you're free to do so! In fact, I encourage it!"
With that said, the masked devil promptly grabbed the remote and pressed play, starting the movie.
Violence is immediately engrossed in the movie, despite having watched at least 6 times, and that's not counting the times the human side of his brain remembers watching it. Iron Monkey was up there with one of his favourite movies of all time. Not simply because the fights were top notch! But because of the protagonist, the Iron Monkey himself.
"You wanna know something funny? Iron Monkey is one of the reasons that I- ...Well, not I, the guy who owned this body before me... Iron Monkey's one of the reasons he wanted to work in Public Safety."
The fiend stated as he kept his eyes fixed on the movie's first fight involving Iron Monkey and a bunch of corrupt guards.
"He wanted to be this cool guy who helped others and asked for nothing in return, but kicked ass while doing so..."
Iron Monkey is on top of a man's head and is kicking his face with both feet. Such scene made the fiend chuckle.
"My first thought when I've seen that was... that's so effin' stupid... why would you want to do that? Why would you help others if you don't plan on getting anything back?"
"But... I kind of get it nowadays... being a hero is badass... I don't think I could ever be one, or even if I want to be... but... it's a nice thing to be inspired by, makes me thing that some humans are... cool, you know?"
The fiend rubbed the back of his head as he realized that he might be oversharing a bit much.
"Heh! Too much? Sorry! Guess I'm just feeling comfortable here."
---- [ -Sorry. I didn't want to assume you just didn't eat anything and not offer. Thanks for letting me know. And don't apologize..~ I'm the one who told you to get comfortable! ] Peeling back some plastic-wrap over pre-made rice balls, Mary placed them into the microwave and let them cook for a little bit. With the low din of the appliance hovering in the background, she could pay more attention to Violence's responses, only passively watching the action on-screen.
Something about what he was talking about caused her to pause, glancing back at the fiend and letting her features soften. It was all too easy to forget that the fiends were once people. Or... perhaps that's why it was so much easier to hate the devils that had kept them from resting.
---- She didn't for a moment think he was oversharing. Instead, she stepped deliberately, letting her footsteps be heard and felt as the officeworker ended up behind the fiend. And slowly... she wrapped her arms over his shoulders, and hugged him gently.
Her signing was done in first-person, now. A little bit harder to parse, but it shouldn't be too bad.
---- [ You're a hero to me. ] She thought about continuing, thought about explaining more about how he'd single-handedly forced her to confront her preconceived notions about the fiendish and their place in this world. She thoughts about telling him that kindness without expectation was a genuine and potent way to earn welcome surprises by those who he'd helped and saved.
But she didn't say any of those things. She didn't know how. And so her hands rested on the fiend, and with a firm squeeze, Mary simply laid there, watching the movie a bit over Violence's shoulder.
The microwave had been done for about two minutes, now.
Violence sat there in stunned silence as he felt Mary hug him, the girl always seemed like she loved her own space. To see her act so tender was actually quite surprising, although, not unwelcoming. The fiend hasn't been hugged ever since... well... ever, he has memories of hugs in his life, but none of them belong to the fiend himself, but the young public safety agent which he now resides.
The fiend slowly put his hand on the girl's back and give her a few taps, reminiscing of those memories where he hugged an old friend. This felt... nice. This is legitimately the first hug he had with a real friend.
What got him even more surprised is after the hug, when she proudly gestured that he's a hero to her. That really hit Violence deep, if he could cry, he would right now. But the best he could do was to give a small grateful nod and squeeze her hand as well.
"Well... you're a hero to ME, M."
He settled down comfortably next to her happily watching the movie with her best friend.
-
They were halfway into the movie, until an aggressive knock on the door grabbed the masked being attention's, pulling him from awesome heroes doing kung fu back to reality.
"Oh no... it's Public Safety, they're here! It must be them!"
Fiend whispered to Mary as he jumps out of the seat, both his hands behind his head as he pace back and forth.
"They'll blame me for what happened! Shit shit shit shit!"
They've knocked again, the knocks are even stronger this time.
'Mrs. Oouchi?' A male voice came out from behind the door. 'This is Sugiwara from Special Division 4, I need to ask you a couple of questions, if you could please open the door.'
[ COMPARATIVELY, VIOLENCE. COMPARATIVELY... and it all relies on dosage and what type of drug and - ] she's suddenly rambling off on what medical information she'd picked up over the course of working with public safety, her hands a blur.
"Whoa whoa! pull on the brakes there, smarty pants! I'm working with half a brain here!"
❛ you're right . however , it'll still be a bit of a nuisance dealing with that pain . ❜
"Pain? Well, yeah, it's pretty painful, especially when it goes through my lungs, but hey! I'll take this over actually dying!"
"So thanks for saving me. Ms. Makima! You're awesome!"
@tacetnix
[ V-violence... that's the equivalent of keeping an inhaler on-hand with drugs..... ]
"What? No, it's totally different! Drugs kill people slowly, the stuff I have in my mask could put a human down in three minutes flat!"
@makimv ❛ unfortunately , violence , not all of us have the luxury of inhaling POISON &. surviving it . i suppose 'death' is one way to calm down ... ❜
"Most humans sure, but definitely not you ma'am. You're indestructible! I'm sure you could chew ricin and just think it's a bit bitter."
"You know what I do to control my anger? I just take a deeeeep breath, and suddenly, I feel great again!"
He takes a long breath, inhaling the poison inside of his mask.
"See? All the anger? Completely gone!"
