I know a lot of people talk about how the fourth wall disconnects kdj from kdjcom through his face being blurred, but i’m surprised nobody has pointed out how they are literally seeing kdj how readers picture characters in a novel.
His face isn’t completely gone, people can still picture him, but they can only distinguish the vague shape of his eyes and mouth, similar to how readers are only given simple descriptions of characters and are forced to fill in the blanks ourselves with our memories, kdjcom have to fill in those blanks of kdj to picture him.
First chthonic Dokja with his husband in 2026, horay
Something I really like about the dynamic between yoohankim is that all three of them have self-deprecating thoughts about their role as a reader, writer, or protagonist.
Kim Dokja’s inner monologue struggles to deal with the fact that he is only a mere reader: that he doesn’t have the strength of the protagonist or the creativity of the writer.
But on the other hand, Han Sooyoung views herself as a powerless and useless writer—as someone who regrets (at times) the words and the life of the protagonist she has detailed.
And then we see in the new yoohan centered side story that Yoo Joongdok too views himself as a “useless” character—“speaking as the writer dictated, and interpreted as the reader wanted.”
To me, these internal thoughts highlight a very normal aspect of human nature and self-doubt. It is easy to see our own downfalls and limitations in comparison to others; comparing ourselves to those around us is how we relate to the world.
I find that yoohankim as a dynamic feeling “useless” in their own individual roles as reader, writer, and protagonist—yet silently praising the aspects and abilities of the other two in their trio—not only highlights how we are our own most hostile and degrading engine of doubt; but also how in the story of orv these functions (reader, writer, and protagonist) can truly be considered as ‘useless’ on their own. As s&s have stated, these three cannot inherently exist fully without the other: the story cannot be brought to life without these three.
They need each other to exist. In the absence of one, the ‘uselessness’ of another is only heightened and glaringly obvious. The setbacks are more difficult to bare. Yoo Joonghyuk needs his reader to remind him of his importance. Han Sooyoung needs her reader to reminder her of her impact. And Kim Dokja needs his protagonist and writer to help affirm his existence in the world. Just like how humans, every day, remind one another of their importance, impact, and existence through stories and relationships.
I think a big part of orv is human connection. We connect through stories and experiences. We crave it the same way we crave food or water. The body, mind, and heart yearns for companionship and understanding.
you know what would be hilarious? doksoo e-dating.
they met in han sooyoung's comments. she honestly thought the nerd fervently defending her first novel's honor from her new one's incels fanboys was both sweet and cringe. listen, she's self-aware. she knows twsa was a steaming pile of shit, but she was 13 when she wrote it—the epitome of edgy, hurt, and lashing out.
If she was being completely honest, her protagonist yoo joonghyuk was her emotional punching bag. if she was hurting, so was he. angry at life and her no good sperm donors? her shitty protagonist was off to a brutal killing spree. feeling low and hollow from her empty house? boom, protagonist with regression depression.
all this to say, twsa was the farthest from a labor of love. it was born out of hurt loneliness anger teenage boredom. it was never popular, never finished—and just like her—abandoned by its so-called parent.
until guwon.
she had to give it to the fucker, he was a loser but he was determined. every chapter, every update, guwon was there fighting off haters like his life depended on it. "this is plagiarised," he'd comment, "if you really want to read something like this then go to the original, three ways to survive in a ruined world."
yeah, the nerd really typed out that mouthful of a title in the comments. readers would report him for spam, curse him out for trolling, and gang up on him—but guwon, the mad lad, always came back.
he was a dog with a bone. han sooyoung was fucking hooked.
writers post for attention. of fucking course guwon would eventually get to her, never mind that he was unknowingly flaming the actual literal author of his favorite novel. so han sooyoung did what any self-respecting modern woman would do.
she cussed him out in the comments.
and then she slid into his dms.

Doksoo week 2025 days 5-7
/ novel ch 535, slight cw for blood and body horror
Day 5: hanahaki
Day 6: mermaid au
Day 7: (free choice) Uma musume au ( designs by me :] )
Prompt list here
i like how the uma designs came out a lot. hsy has a more punk rock-like wild fire aesthetic and kdj is more ethereal and creepy. i tried making his headgear look like his dkos face scars too. And the ear coverings looking like the horns.
while hsy has multiple stars like a cloud of constellations (kimcom), kdj only has one, because its himself
doksoo week day 3 comic also <3
oldest dream hiding in the white spaces in between text for protection -> 1863rd han sooyoung wearing a white coat to represent her existing in those spaces -> oldest dream hiding behind her coat to keep himself safe
Can't even play geometry dash in peace
Never letting my fuckass siblings play again cus how does one make this mistake 💔💔
Justice for Dokja's face card ✊️
welcome to n'gai forest!!
i still faintly remember kim dokja once saying that he hates yoo joonghyuk because he's fought with many people because of him (I still need a charger to charge my laptop so no way of confirming oopsies).
And it hits more when you realise yoo joonghyuk has fought with many people because of kim dokja as well.
In the 0th turn gong pildu officiated his and lee seolhwa's marriage. However, their first proper meeting in 1864th turn has yoo joonghyuk raising his sword and threaten gong pildu for kim dokja.
Shin yoosung has been his companion in many turns, however after 41st!sys killed dokja he was blinded by rage and tried to kill her claiming that he didn't care whatever happened in that turn.
Lee jihye has also been his companion in many many turns, however he almost kills her during the 1863rd turn when she attacks kim dokja (a stranger).
He's also threatened to kill han sooyoung to get kim dokja's stuff from her.
He fought with breaking the sky sword master to protect kim dokja then also put himself between breaking the sky sword saint and kim dokja to save the latter.
Anyways, my point is...these two mfs will never stop behaving like each other.
Maybe the real reason kim dokja, despite reading 3149 chapters, tends to mischaracterise yoo joonghyuk so much is because of how similar they tend to be. He can not stand that. Just like how he can not stand kim namwoon because he sees himself in him or basically anyone else he dislikes for the same reason. It's like his brain tricked him into liking someone like him (same dokja same).
Nothing kills me more than ORV beginning on a subway that's been stopped, with Kim Dokja's first thought being that a suicide must've occurred, his favorite story ending and beginning on that symbolism, having originally found it due to his own attempt, and believing that the end of it would be the end of him, only for it to have come to life before his eyes, whilst his emotions and sense of self were snuffed deeper due to the fourth wall, to forge his own story with companions that he could have only dreamt of having before the world was ruined, to sacrifice himself over and over again despite his companions pleas for his unending death sentence to cease, just to then subject himself to the cruelest form of irony by not getting off that damned subway, where both life and death seemed to mock his inevitably doomed existence.
Oh and let's not forget that this subway was set for eternity, to face himself for what he has always felt he was, a monster, hypocrite, but despite that, Yoo Joonghyuk, that damned protagonist, the same one that had been there for Kim Dokja for years, that was subjected to becoming this reader's source of comfort, and was becoming aware of that over the millennium of floating through space, searching endlessly for the sole reader of his story, was by all illogical odds, able to find his reader, his Dokja, and like time and time again, after failing to due so numerous times after Kim Dokja acquired the fourth wall, was finale able to persuade Dokja from out of that train of thought, the literal train of thought, knowing for the first time what he meant too Kim Dokja, his companion of both life and death, fiction and reality.
They're such freaks for this, I love them ♡
