Isn’t CATNIP a born-again Christian…? If so, why does she seem convinced that everyone else seems to be sinful and without the chance for redemption? Wasn’t she also in that position in the past? So, I mean, what everyone believes in aside (since I’m not trying to say everyone should suddenly convert or anything) under HER beliefs, shouldn’t everyone still have a chance to “better” themselves and be “redeemed” in the future? Why is she being so hateful about it then?

hello, i hope i can help a little. CATNIP didnt say that everyone is sinful without the chance for redemption. she said that to stand before God without the the penal substitutionary atonement of Christ is to stand before God by the basis of your own works, which already results in judgement.

the reason why she’s being so “hateful” (or rather, harsh, would be a better word) is because the bible states that nobody is righteous before God by the basis of their own works. or, more simply put, you have no chance “better” yourself and be “redeemed” in the future.

this comes from the doctrines of original sin and total depravity. if you’re not into doctrines, the bible has it in various places like John 3:18, Romans 3:22-23, and so on. these are some of the most hated doctrines even amongst Christians, so it is understandable that it would sound extremely hateful. however, if you understand truth from the bible, there they are stated.

also, quite unfortunately (or fortunately), i do not find her SS statement as contradictory to the bible (though she could have worded it better). i am aware that by this sentence alone, i sound equally as hateful and hurtful as her. to anyone who is hurt by what i have said, please, even if we do not end up seeing eye to eye, let us if possible at least talk things out (in private, preferably, but if discussing publicly is preferred, i am accepting of it).

imagine if someone accused cathii of ripping off other people’s art? the response would be huge and rightly so because it’s so obviously bullshit.

don’t pretend like u have no idea what theyre saying when they said that violin tends to copycat… that’s shady and frankly it lets violin off the hook with no consequences. and most importantly it undermines the artist she copies from

i have nothing against genie. i just think copying and making money, like real paper money not csc, off someone else’s ideas is gross.

i agree with the first paragraph, on the basis that Cathii has drawn such a wide range of unique things that people can easily tell if she has copied other people’s art.

for Violin on the other hand, as i’ve mentioned before, her range of art is not wide at all - she sticks to a few things she likes, and therefore even accidentally produces new designs which she has drawn in the past. the hairstyles and clothes that she draws are also pretty generic. with her smaller range of more similar, generic designs, it is harder to tell if she has copied other people’s art.

think about it - long wavy hair? a straight side ponytail? a bunch of curls? surely Cathii has drawn something like that - something that Violin draws very often.

does that mean Violin is copying? someone like me who knows her a little better would probably say its unlikely, but i wouldnt fault you if you insist she might have copied. maybe she did!!! whether accidentally or intentionally, she might have copied a design of Cathii’s.

the real issue is the lack of proof. it is not enough to say that “since so few people are defending her, it must have happened”. (imo, any accusation based on the response of people is insufficient to take substantive action.) until this is properly backed up, this holds as much value as shouting in the wind.

if Violin really did copy intentionally - and the evidence sufficiently shows it, then it hurts me to say this but: she wont be let off the hook.

It makes me feel very awkward whenever Violin copies other artist’s CWs. That’s often.

Cathii is kind of an angel for putting up with it. Think of how much money Violin has made from Cathii’s ideas.

If you don’t believe me, say so. Seriously. I’d be happy to post dozens of examples of her ripping off other CW artists because it’s so much easier and financially beneficial than coming up with your own original ideas.

what i know about Violin is she really doesnt refer to ANYTHING at all - if she draws something, its most likely something that she likes or popped into her head. she has a tendency to draw items highly similar to her old stuff because she really just draws on a few preferences she has. Cathii has an amazingly wide range of stuff that Violin almost never does - side shaves, long bangs, voluminous wigs, sheer shoes, high-necked tops, and the like - while Violin sticks to bobs, straight-to-curly wigs, and strapless dresses. if Violin drew something drastically different (or similar to Cathii’s), it would more likely be a commission than something she designed by herself.

that being said, im sure this really concerns Violin as not just an artist, but just as a person: she doesnt like stepping on people’s toes. if there is an issue (who knows right, maybe she DID copy, whether intentionally or unintentionally), you should bring it directly to her. at least so that it can be resolved properly, instead of everyone cracking their heads (likely including herself) trying to figure out what she did. i don’t mean it out of spite. please actually solve this, if possible!

CSC payment option unnecessary for CWs art?

I know there are some people who aren’t able to pay rl $ but artists can’t eat csc either bro.

If an artist does a commission for 2k csc, and that person releases 4-6 batches, they’re making a csc profit off of them, straight up. UNLESS of course, the artist requires a specific CW as part of payment and is happy to accept that in place of $, just doing comissions for straight up csc shouldn’t be mandatory for CWs.

Its different than other art because you don’t have the potential for making csc off of a pet overlay. But if I buy a recolor from a certain artist for 500 csc or 1k csc I’m almost always making 1-2k csc profit off of it.

What do you say? I’d like to hear your opinions.

im guessing we’re talking about the standard of CW approval here. unfortunately, i have to agree with the OP - not only is the lineart for the overlay pixelated as so many have pointed out, but there is also colour bleed at the top of the shades (can you see the red pixels?) and inconsistent frame thickness. i might argue for lack of shading layers on the lenses, but as most glasses dont even have shading on the lenses, i could let that slide. i dont personally think the lack of gradient that others mentioned is an issue, since the submitter might have wanted a block pattern. but for the first three reasons listed, it shouldnt have been approved.

I haven’t been on Subeta for like, a while, but what the hell’s up with all the RPing in the SB? Like is that not a rule that you can’t RP in the SB..?

even if it weren’t a rule, it is kind of bad manners to make the SB a personal little RP world. the SB is for everyone to come in and chat - RPing turns the SB exclusive to the RPers, and makes people feel unwelcome. “close the SB if you don’t like it” is not the solution - it is not the content that is annoying, it is the whole exclusivity of the action.

i too had the same question, and i too didnt have the intention to start anything. after all, i did a kaneki mask, and because of the april fool glasses, i didnt put the mouth on the kaneki mask. what constitutes as a base edit? how would you confuse glasses for base edits? is it a matter of opinion (which case i can accept but also for consistency’s sake, how would we then go forward)? is this even something worth discussing? idk aaaaa i dont have time for this baCK TO DOING ASSIGNMENTS

i know it’s not like a huge majority of the site has access to all the available slots, but is there really a need to have nearly 100 slots?

as much as i’d love 21498230948 pets, i dunno, im not very fond of the opportunity it opens up for pet name hoarding. i mean, give others a chance maybe? im also a name hoarder myself, and sometimes i feel pretty weird when i do.

If this was about CWs, would you also be in favor of telling someone who’s claimed something, but doesn’t wear it very often, that they should stop slotting on things and give someone else a chance? I don’t see why pets are treated so differently. We can’t sell or trade them like other things, so if I want to spend my money and time on the site so I can get more names that I like and make dumb characters for them at my own pace, why should that be anyone else’s business? I’m not cheating and I’m not impacting any kind of economy, I’m just enjoying the site in my own way.

the reason pets are treated differently than CWs is because they are!

you can produce multiples of CWs, if you really miss a slot, you can commission similar-looking items. as you pointed out, you can sell/trade them in hopes of getting one you prefer.

as for pet names, there can only be one (all others are misspellings), and unlike CWs, sometimes substitutes just wont do. you cant sell/trade them, only adopt, and the adoption system is based on both effort and skill, compared to CWs which is just effort (and not very much, either).

im not saying to compare pets with CWs, nor am i saying its wrong to hoard pets. its my mistake as well - people can definitely do what they like with their own pets. and youre right too in that anyone should work on their pets on their own pace. i never said it was cheating, nor was i accusing you, nor any person (i legit have nobody in mind). all im saying is that it presents the OPPORTUNITY for hoarding.

also (and this is unrelated to anything else out of this post), im not a CW kind of person ^^; just because im primarily involved in the CW market doesnt mean im crazy over it. i cant think of any other reason you’d have brought up CWs in particular.

i was not in any way trying to guilt-trip you into selling it back to me, even though i cannot deny it probably sounded that way because i was upset at myself, and im really sorry if it did.

Ive never found the need to reapond to one of these so hopefully this is the correct way - bit I too was blocked for this incident today by the same user because I was swlling a copy of said CW and somwone else beat them to it and wasnt wuick wnough to reply to the comment they sent me about it being you - which it was not. agree with the “shouldnt have to” part. they shouldnt HAVE to ask for tips - like, if tips become the only way the poor staff could sustain enough because their wages werent high enough, i’d be mad.

as for “shouldnt be allowed to”, it depends. if that staff was begging, harassing people, or threatening to not do their job properly, then i agree - tips are NOT wages, they are not in the contract, and nobody should be forced to give it to them (unless its mandatory in the US? i dont know, im sorry)

but if it was just a passive tip jar of sorts and does not affect how they do their job in any way, i can’t see why it should be stopped, since they’re doing no harm, and people are always free to choose whether or not they want to if they are able to afford it. there’s no obligation and it isnt illegal.

i have a friend that’s normally very positive and sweet and hopeful and all that fun stuff that none of my other friends are. but lately on my friends feed i’ve been seeing her talking about how depressed she is and how sad she is and its annoying af if i knew she was going to become like this i would have cut her off a while ago. no one wants to hear about your drama on subeta we come here to have a good time and make pretty human avatar’s and pets. so in other words goodbye enjoy being miserable.

leaving this anon because i don’t want to name names.

i asked a good friend of mine to hold a name for me, or rather, to grab a name for me, as i wasn’t going to be on at that time because of an important appointment. i’d been eyeing this pet for a while, and i was so excited and already had an outline for a story and was even saving up for a commission for the artwork i had in mind.

i asked several times if this was okay, i didn’t want to take advantage, it would only be once, and they were very cordial and sweet about it and said it was fine. i was grateful.

i had talked to them about what the story was going to be, though some details had been left out because i was curious about their opinion after i’d written for the site. they encouraged me and were enthusiastic with me, and again i was grateful.

i came home the other day from the appointment, and was really needing a pick me up- the appointment was okay it was just other matters i’d been dealing with otherwise from earlier this year bumming me out, and then i remembered that the name cleared and they were being super amazing and going to wait from early morning until afternoon until i got home to grab the name for me. i had sent them thank you gifts just because, it wasn’t an arrangement, it had been a surprise, not an exchange at all, and they had said no need for that at all.

so i came home excited to message them, and i saw they had succeeded in adopting the name for me! i was ecstatic and it brightened up my entire day even week even month. so i messaged them.

they messaged me back not too long after and i talked about when i could adopt the name, the pet, from them, and they came right back with “i’m sorry, but i fell in love with the name, and i’m going to keep them. please don’t message me again about this, i won’t answer.”

not to be dramatic.. but my heart is broken.

not naming names, i don’t want them in trouble and i don’t want to be in trouble in case something was wrong with what i said, but.. i thought if anyone could understand it might be my fellow Subetan community.

i guess this teaches me though not to discuss names or count so much on help in that way from other people. i’ve learned my lesson, i’m just sad it was in this way </3

there’s no strict obligation for them to give it to you, even if it was promised, because there was no consideration, and even if there was any, it would be voided by Subeta’s T&C (sorry im looking at this from a legal perspective). however, it is STILL shitty that they promised you the name and then chose to keep it after promising it to you, and from a moralistic point of view, that was a super dick move. you would be the better person if you still remained friends with someone who doesnt deserve it, but you wouldnt be in the wrong either if you went your separate ways with them. also, please dont lose your trust in people just because of one person, a lot of people would love to show you a better side of the world!
