i don't know about you, but i think carrying a phone weighing almost 1 kg in your belt is kinda badass, and if that wasn't enough, the cd player weighs a lot too (first photo).

i also tagged all my coord posts, so they should be easier to find for anyone just interested in that, now!
Barbie & Friends - Skipping a Beat (1999)
Skipper is the new drummer for the coolest rock band in school. When her best friend Courtney’s costumes for the band become a problem, Skipper has a tough choice to make. That’s when she turns to Barbie, who reminds her what being a real friend is all about!
that clothing store in image 5 is one i'd definitely visit if i was a doll ( ゚∀゚) otherwise too tbh...
a 3d licca-chan postcard that my mom for some reason had, despite me knowing that she's never been interested in these sort of things... strange (・o・)
appreciation post for these shoes...
they were given to me some time in the late 00's, and they were already old by the time i got them.
the amount of wear i've gotten out of these shoes is amazing. i don't know how many years i've used these as my (almost) everyday shoes, and they never break. how? you may wonder...
well to start off, they're made up of a really solid rubber sole, that doesn't crumble (like a lot of other shoes from the time these were made, who often had a plastic foam sole), and leather, which also survives a lot longer than fake leather.
but what i believe is the biggest reason they've stayed alive during all this time and wear is thanks to my meticulous care for them: cleaning them and polishing them every week.
they're basically waterproof thanks to all the shoe polish that's on them (・∀・;)

by the last one my imagination had started drifting away a little (/▽\)
at the point of when i first heard this group i was kind of surprised by their sound and the way they sang. the closest sounding (singing wise) other group i can think of would be saint four, but they're not really space themed... there's just something very unique about starbow that i haven't really heard in other showa idol groups.
just some cuties
since i've been listening a bit to tm network again, i remembered this old gem that i think i even used as a ringtone at some point. anyway this is obviously a reupload from nico nico douga, but the uploader on youtube has lots of other mario sequencer versions of popular japanese meme songs from the 2007ish era, if anyone remembers them...
CAROL - OVA - March 21, 1990
Okay, so I just finished this. Let’s talk about it
In 1988, the popular pop/rock boy band TM Network came up with their latest album “CAROL -A Day In A Girl’s Life 1991-"
This album had a particular motif that told a story of Carol, a girl who is whisked away to a strange world and is the key to destroying a monster who will destroy the world’s music. Carol is aided by three handsome men, Tico, Clark and Flash in her journey.
From there, the album spawned a stage musical, novels, manga and today’s subject: the 1990 OVA
Is it magical girl?: I say no, since it pretty much falls in the same category of Fushigi Yuugi. Carol doesn’t really have any magical powers. The climax is her glowing and chanting while her boy band friends play music. Maybe its just the setting and an affinity for popular male musicians, but it actually it reminds me a lot of the movie Labyrinth.
Pros: Its just the kindof OVA I like, a short and sweet fantasy adventure with all that 80s/90s goodness. Bonus points for having designs by Yun Kouga too. TM Network’s music (that is throughout the film) is easy on the ears.
Cons: Carol is a frustratingly selfish main character. Scenes and story aren’t very developed and will just cut out and move to the next thing and assume you just saw (or WILL see) the details in the musical. Takashi Utsunomiya, who is the lead vocalist for TMN & the voice for love interest/lead bishonen Flash cannot voice act very well. (Just sayin).
Unfortunately, I find the development back story of CAROL to be more interesting than watching the actual OVA…
Other Notes: Clips and songs from the original album are floating around on youtube. This was the most comprehensive list I could find
The OVA I watched with Russian subs, so I probably missed some details, but if you’ve seen enough fantasy anime you can probably get by. I did find a download for some English subs, but the link was broken - so you can get it with a little more searching effort.
came to think of this the other day, and decided to rewatch the ova for the first time since i was in high school. it was mostly like i remembered it, nothing extraordinary, but still ok.
the thing i think is most funny is the fact that despite carol is supposed to be british, she is played by a swedish woman in the musical...
i find it interesting that i just recently read about rie's life unaware of the fact that she was the singer of this song i used to like as a young teenager... and the fact that it's a komuro produced song (which i wasn't aware of either, despite being a fan of his music since childhood) makes everything even more interesting. no wonder i liked the song so much, and listening to it now it's so obvious it's made by him.
