And also, watching other people squat/c&j/deadlift/olympic lift in general is heartbreaking for me. Yarr.

IT’S BEEN TOO LONG SINCE I’VE UPDATED, I KNOW.
Frustrating not being able to be 100 percent, to not work out at the usual pace, to not be on the field. Its a waiting game - waiting to heal, waiting for USA Rugby to validate my claims, waiting to get back to me.
I just feel constantly off and I know it is affecting everything in my head. Gotta press on, though.
Wednesday was the first day I ran in 50 days. This alter-G treadmill and I are gonna be great friends.
So I know this tumblr has been one of seemingly rage and complaints. My bad. It's not all like that - it's just frustrating to have the best rugby season lined up for you and one fluke play kills it.
Right now I'm working to get back for the end of the season. Filing paperwork with USA Rugby to get playoff eligibility. I'm already breaking it down to myself that I'm not going to start, but my ego balks heavily at that. It's a process.
As I heal and get back to two feet and gunning, it'll turn into a rugby achievement/workout/fun times place. There's already some of that working its way in. It'll happen as it should.
Yesterday was the halfway point - spruced up the big board as well.
Sea Legs x Run The Jewels
Killer Kill from the Ville and El-P making music to crush faces to.
Because this needs that blackout too. Working hard to get better.
PT was ok today. They gave me a ton of core work and a couple exercises that make me feel like I'm rolling on the floor like a newborn. Core, glutes, hams - the whole chain has to start firing again. They'll let me stand and balance next week Wednesday.
It is to be said that it's a solid hour and a half of home PT everyday - plus the workouts on my own. Hard work, right? Right.
It all hinges on the Monday appointment. I want to go from the boot to something else. I'm getting antsy and it's
Keep mentally busy.
It's like looking at an old girlfriend that it just didn't work out with. I'll be back.
They announced the USA South squad to go to Mexico and parts unknown this week. I know most of the guys and gave them congratulations and I meant it. I hope they win it all. But I feel like I should have been there and I would have if I didn't get hurt.
I feel really guilty for that thought - like what kind of teammate am I, you know? - but it's part of wanting to be out there. There are high and low points to all this stuff - but it's seemingly mostly low right now. Ankle progress is always slow, the MD tells me - the break is 90% healed, but all the ligaments and tendons have to heal and get back to it.
I keep trying to focus on the May date, but sometimes it's harder than it looks. PT tomorrow, and then MD appointment around the corner after the weekend.
I went to the gym Monday because I got cleared.
It was hard - i hit a wall and damn near walked out. But I didn't.
Also - seated variations are harder than they look.
Small victories, right?
I've been watching a lot of rugby - Six Nations, mostly - and I haven't hated it or myself. I'm looking to get better and watch flow and position and other things.
But I can't bring myself to watch any games that my club plays. That's just how it is. I'm the 15. Somebody else wearing my jersey is something I can't take.
Getting ready for next week and the gym. Small steps.
Keep mentally busy. Today's board.
Vegas at rest. 1.5 hours of PT. Icing up, son.
PT today. Therapist made comments about the ankle - "You've been stretching the crap out of your ankle", "It's awake and mostly stable", et al - and I told them to ramp my PT as hard as they can. I'm trying to get back to where I was and better. The next appointment is PT only next week and then the week after that it's an MD appointment with an MRI/X-ray and PT on the back of that.
I got cleared for gym - knees up. No squats/C&J/OHP/DL/standing variants. It's a start. Going Monday. Gotta craft a program to get back in the swing so the transition of my numbers will be better when I'm up and gunning again.
4 weeks down, 8 to go.
