isnt uucest technically not incest? since they are the same person sharing a body? im pretty sure they only refered themselves as siblings to make it less complicated for the alpha kids.. and also the whole "other half" mating thing! idk, lmk!!
i’ve always had this thought, i do believe they call each other siblings only because it’s the closest approximation to the sort of relationship between them, from a human perspective. (Interestingly, Caliborn does vehemently reject the label of brother and sister at first. The only times he does refer to calliope as his sister is either ironically or subconsciously, in my opinion.) I guess them considering and calling each other that is enough for people to interpret it as incestuous, even if they’re more like two beings that happen to share a single body (it’s more like pseudo-incest or even selfcest, if anything).
I really enjoy the whole “other half” thing. They’re two sides of the same coin, two being that are perfectly made for each other to get on each other’s nerves better than anybody else could. Cherub romance in general is very interesting to me, especially with the whole idea of desperately trying to find and recreate that irreplaceable, hateful sort of relationship they had with their “sibling” before predominating.
I’ve said it before, but imo even if it is “incest”, it’s stupid to impose human standards on aliens whose species has a completely different view on romance and doesn’t even have a concept of incest or siblings. lol
