it also sucks being close to people who don’t think mental illness is real and anxiety isn’t real and the experiences that cause them over time weren’t so bad or weren’t “really” what I experienced or were exceptions it sucks to feel like your experiences are invalidated, i feel like i can’t ever talk about this around a lot of my friends because I know in their heads some people are like “oh people just make up mental illness/abuse to look cool” and I’m not about to fight with people who think that way tbh if they haven’t experienced it themselves they probably just don’t understand and I can’t really blame them or expect them to empathize
