VACATION TERMINAL is out!!
After all this time I finally got off my butt and finished the game... and forgot to post about it on here lmao. Vacation Terminal is a short 2D Psychological thriller, horror and survival based visual novel with evading based puzzle elements. Gavriil and Yeva, two strangers who happened to meet by chance, both travelling together, on the same train, in the same cabin, but really with not much to talk about. But when their train derails in the middle of nowhere, they're suddenly forced to work together. Gavriil wakes up alone in a cold, pitch-black cave- his leg missing, and Yeva claiming she saved his life. There’s no sign of rescue. No way to call for help … This was supposed to be just a short vacation. 9 k words 1 hour play time 3 endings total Free on windows, linux and mac + browser play option If you're interested, feel free to give it a try! Leaving reviews, comments/feedback etc would be very much appreciated!! Download page: https://gelppy.itch.io/vacation-terminal
VACATION TERMINAL TRAILER (Visual Novel)
(youtube version)
Coming out November 2025!!
Story rewrite for Vacation Terminal
After some reconsideration of who the characters are as people, and change in story motivation, we landed on this, brief introduction to our two main characters:
GAVRIIL - office clerk
Personality
-Passive, indecisive, and deeply insecure. Gavriil has a habit of adapting to whatever role people expect of him.
-Though outwardly polite and unassuming, he harbors a bitter streak and a sharp inner monologue. He dislikes being perceived as weak or dependent, but rarely has the courage to change it.
History
- Gavriil drifts through life without much direction. He’s unable to move forward in his career, never quite measures up to his younger brother, and is generally seen as forgettable by both peers and family.
-He feels invisible. Not because he’s mistreated, but because he’s irrelevant. That belief festers into an inferiority and abandonment complex.
-Because of this when he was young he was actually quite a clingy kid, like to a really annoying level, like desperate.
YEVA - Fired ex nurse
Personality
-Reserved and emotionally repressed; struggles with deep connections due to the transient nature of her patients. Believes she follows the rules and does things "right," but is deeply bitter at the world for failing her regardless.
-Prone to cold rationalizations, but emotionally volatile when cornered. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Story synopsis remains quite similar: Vacation Terminal" is a short 2D Psychological thriller, horror and survival based visual novel with evading based puzzle elements. Following the story of two strangers, Gavriil and Yeva. Who suddenly find themselves stranded in the snowy wilderness after a brutal train crash. To survive, they must put trust each in each other and lean on the hope for eventual rescue. Thank you for Dion06 and Isleoflines for Co-writing and proof reading through out the development of the final script, the script was ready around May, thanks to them it was a little less painful writing it... check them out!
Yandere Jam
Originally Vacation Terminal was going to be a quick visual novel game made for the Yandere game jam, about a but due to members personal lives becoming busy during the month, we were only able to get the character sprites and the start of the story script complete by the end. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Scrapped original story:
(1st iteration) Premise: The game begins with the protagonist, a young man traveling alone on a train, encountering a mysterious woman who seems overly intrigued by him. After a brief conversation where she seems unusually focused on his appearance, the train crashes, leaving the protagonist unconscious. When he wakes up, he finds himself in a cold, snowy cave, his leg missing and the woman standing outside. What seemed like a simple crash quickly turns into a fight for survival, as the protagonist learns that the woman is not just his "savior," things take a dark turn as you discover more about the woman, and through your interactions you realise she's weirdly obsessed with proving her worth to you.
Characters: Gavriil (MC): A young man traveling alone. He becomes the only survivor of the crash, disoriented, disabled (lost a whole ass leg which she shiftily wrapped up before he woke up), and unaware of the woman's motives. His striking resemblance to the woman's estranged father plays a significant role in her actions, as she is desperate to recreate a bond that was lost long ago.
Yeva (second main lead): A woman who sees the protagonist not as a person, but as a means of a second chance for her to be the proper daughter which her father wouldn't leave behind. A chance to prove her worth by "saving" him. She is driven with a mix of resentment and the possibility of "redemption". ------------------------------------------------------------------------------Our team decided that it would be better to continue developing it rather than scrap it/hold it till next game jam, due to the stories length being longer than doable for our schedule haha, as well as a significant change to story direction later on. We plan to release the final playable version of Vacation Terminal around November, or latest, just before the end of 2025.
