Here’s my Christmas wish for you: I hope your heart is as full as mine—with Jesus, family, gratefulness, Joy, laughter and love. Farmer Man is out harvesting today because he’s STILL trying to get our bean crop in. But not having a picture-perfect Christmas this year gave me the choice to have a bad attitude or focus on what I have to be grateful for. To be honest, I’ve done a little of both, but I keep coming back to the true meaning of Christmas and just how grateful I am for our great God. I’m sad to say I haven’t put up a new blog post in months 😔🙈. I haven’t been able to justify devoting the time to it with the other things hat have had to take priority in our lives during this season. (But I do have a rough draft going 😉) So here’s a little update! Usually Farmer Man is done harvesting our soybeans by Thanksgiving, but not this year! In fact, he’s only about 1/3 of the way done! 😱. Why, you ask? We have had rain consistently at least once or twice a week for the entire harvest season! He can’t harvest while it’s raining because everything about the bean’s readiness depends on the moisture level of the beans. And he can’t harvest for at least a day or two AFTER rain because they have to dry out. Lately, it will rain then a couple days later when it had dried out enough to harvest, it rained again! This season has been a farmer’s nightmare 😵. This picture is of some of our beans this morning. Yes, this is what they’re supposed to look like when they’re ready for harvest! Now, if Farmer Man can just get out there and get them! Say a prayer that he can if you think about it 🙏🏻. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours! Had an absolutely ⭐️WONDERFUL⭐️ day with this one! In these toddlerhood days, it’s hard to honestly say that many days are wonderful from start to finish, so I had to document today. We had a leisurely morning at home, ran an errand and had lunch out with Farmer Man, took an hour long drive to do some shopping, and she napped the whole way 🙌🏻. Then we had so much fun shopping, looking at all the Christmas decorations, and running into a few friends. Outdoor therapy + baby therapy =👌🏻. Loving this fall weather! Okay, okay...she’s a toddler, but we still call her our baby. Farmer Man has had a full day, and he’s still going strong. 4 tractor trailers were scheduled to show up at 7 to load up some of our soybeans and haul them off to be sold. They were overachievers, and got here in the middle of our breakfast at around 6:45. So Farmer Man left his half eaten breakfast where it sat and went to get them loaded up. He did that until 11:30, then made it home for some lunch. Since lunch he’s been working on getting our silos ready for the additional 3 trucks that will come tomorrow morning to haul more beans! I just got off the phone with him, and he is about love the auger from the silos empties today to the full ones. Grateful for friends that let us use their silos while some of ours and full and we’re doing some repairs on others! This harvest season has been challenging so far—the hurricanes and seemingly continuous rain are making it a slow go. You know, along with all the normal harvest breakdowns and hurdles. Farmer Man planted 623 acres of beans, and he’s only been able to harvest ~150 of that so far 😱.
