Different First Meet

I scrambled to make a piece for @gratsuweek2026 based on salem-v's written submission <3<3<3

She let me sample it before posting it as she was editing to get my feedback. I have not watched the show but we have been doing writer's club together and she has single handedly gotten me into Gratsu (among other ships). From my end, they're original works with some unspoken lore that she explains to me as it becomes relevant xD

I had something more akin to the most memorable part of the fic but the power blinked right as I was saving and CSP has a dogshit backup save system in place so the corrupted file LITERALLY only had the gesture drawing with the eye and ear in place when I had JUST finished the first sketch so, this one became more of a meme style quick draw over a ref pic just to get it done TvT

“Oh.” Pinky blinked as his eyes caught on the guildmark. “That mark…that means you’re part of a guild, right?”

and hell maybe lucy's somewhere on the spectrum too. idk. her needs and wants? a partner, someone to stay by her side, to SEE her and care about her, to LISTEN to her (in the serious moments, even tho we know natsu stays tuned into her). it doesnt need to be traditional.

and she knows and is shown that natsu gives her all of that. she wants for nothing in their relationship. All she wants is natsu, and she's got him.

if you're sitting on a fanfic idea because you think it's "too weird" or "too niche" I need you to understand something: the internet is VAST and FULL of people with your exact brand of weird. that crackship that makes sense only to you? there are at least 50 people who will read it and go "oh my god FINALLY." but even if there were ZERO? you still deserve to write the thing that makes your brain light up.

shoutout to everyone in small fandoms who takes a character with one minute of screentime and decides to build an entire universe around them. to the oc creators, the rarepair shippers, the canon-divergence enthusiasts and the people who can’t stop asking “but what if?” and then proceed to spend 50k words answering their own question.

i genuinely think your joy is contagious. fandoms grow because people see someone having fun and think, “wait, i want to play too.” <3
