Angel had never seen this child before but that didn’t change the fact that they were getting wet to their socks in the rain and, despite what you may think of a death omen, he wasn’t heartless.

Frisk looked up in confusion at the one who had offered them shelter from the rain, honestly the small child had been very tired that day, they were also not quite them self, they had lost a friend today due to their timeline being destroyed while they weren’t paying attention. 

“Oh…thank you, i hadn’t even noticed it was raining…”

They sigh a little, their own white and gold feathers seemed to have lost their sheen for the moment.

“Likewise.”  Then Angel half laughed, trying to sound cheerful. ”Is’fine. Hard to be appreciative when you’re still getting half soaked, yeah?” He said as a thunder rumbled from above and he pushed open his front door. It hadn’t even been locked apparently. 

Inside was warmer than the outside and most importantly it was dry, but it had the same messy touch as the exterior. With all the blinds pulled over the windows, and the storm darkening the sky prematurely, the room they entered was dark and smelled sorta smokey and some other indiscernible scent. Angel closed the door behind them and ran a hand across the wall and a lamp with one of the lights burnt out flickered on from its table next to a couch. In the dim light dark smudges could be seen on the corners of door frames and edges of shelves almost as if charcoal fingers had ran across the surface.

Angel led them to the couch with a hand on their shoulder and grabbed them the blanket draped over the end. “Here, you can sit there if you want. Uuh, I can go get the phone for you too in a moment. You want some hot chocolate?”

“Not a problem.” His mouth curled faintly in a smile as his his other wing moved to cover his face. It was half shielding the rest of him from the rain but his dark hair still dripped into his eyes all the same.

He blinked a few times and glanced down at them. “Hey… Are you lost? You’re far from home aren’t you?” He was referring to the angel realm. A literal world away from home was far, but even if it wasn’t, even if they lived here like he did their mood seemed subdued to match the weather.

The small child wouldn’t smile, they seemed to keep their head down, the souls inside them tied to urge Frisk to get out of the rain, after all, they were still half human, which meant they could still catch cold. But Frisk….Frisk was upset with themself…they couldn’t quite get over the fact that it was their fault for looking away, they coyldhave done something, anything, but they never bothered to pay attention until it was too late…

“Im…not really going to be the best company right now…I do apoligise….”

They sounded so proper for a child. It made Angel shift his feet awkwardly as he stood beside them. And despite their reassurance Angel was pretty sure they were lost. Some kids were too proud to admit they were. But they didn’t look stubborn, the kid’s downcast look was anything but. Maybe they just didn’t want help from a random stranger which was also understandable. When he’d first arrived in the small town, the kids of Hemel had stared at him from across the street even before he’d stopped bothering to hide his wings.

“Hey, it’s ok but we need to get out of the rain.” It was starting to come down heavy now, and while not knowing what was wrong or what he could do, he couldn’t just leave them. No one would leave a child in a storm with good conscience.  “You can call your parents to come pick you up. Eh, I don’t have a cellphone but you can call them from my house.”

He offered them his hand. “What’s your name kid?”

Frisk looked up at the guy, why could they just tell he thought they were lying..? They didn’t have the mental energy for this, they were tired, wet and cold and…they missed their friend…boy, he sure was taking a long time to stair at them, maybe he couldn’t figure out what to say? Oh, he started talking again, ah, seems like the usual. ‘where are your parents’ question. Maybe they would explain once the two were out of the rain.

“S…sure…out of the rain is…probably a good idea…”

As a child it wasnt likely a good idea to follow some random angel someplace, especially considering he might want to kill them for being a Nephillum, it’s happened on more than one occasion they must admit. But…as stated before…they didnt quite have the mental capasity at the moment.

Angel kept his hand extended for an awkward moment waiting for their name before accepting they wouldn’t give it just now. Right. Stranger danger and all that. At least they agreed to get out of the rain.

“ ‘M Angel.” He said. He hoped they would see it as a sort of offering. He didn’t want to hurt the kid or scare them.

Angel placed his hand on their shoulder and guided them in front so that his wings could better shield them from the rain and began to guide them to the place he called home.

It looked like most other houses on the street, if a bit faded in color. There were a few cracks in the pavement and a wilting stretch of flowered bushes under the windows. The plants seemed to come with each household but Angel’s looked significantly less well kept than his neighbors. At least they weren’t brittle and brown. He himself considered it a small miracle given he never once touched them in all the time he’s lived here.
