While I'm taking a short break from drawing, I want to share some screenshots of my boy <3

Castiel Vagrandeer, MC, who studied at Beauxbatons before entering Hogwarts, and whose biography has a tragic part, which forced him to transfer…

He was born into a family of hereditary opticians, and is the eighth generation of the family business. His family owns an optical and sewing workshop in Paris, as well as a branch in London. After finishing school, he will continue his father's business, returning to France.

Incidentally, he made the glasses he wears himself at the age of fourteen.

I don't know how to sketch and never have. My sketches are always very crooked and full of problems, so after a crooked sketch there are about two more layers of searching for the right shape. Those who can quickly create a picture with just a few lines — you're incredible!

anyways, introducing my mc, lynnette! a bit of a menace, super slow to warm up to people, looks unassuming but will dunk on you the second she can exploit your misfortune (unless she is cool with you). mean lesbian core frfr

met anne sallow upon sebastian’s insistence, took an interest in her, and a few more visits to feldcroft got her to warm up to the sicker twin. one of her favorite hobbies is paying a visit to the little feldcroft domicile, swapping stories with anne, and not inviting sebastian.

WIP Wednesday

Been a bit since I have done one of these! I've been working on this off and on for the past week or so and was able to get a bit more done yesterday while my dad was at the hospital (he's alright, and thank you all for the kind comments on my last post.) Enjoy this snippet for Perctoria in their seventh year!

What on earth was she thinking when she agreed to play as Hufflepuff's Keeper? Victoria wasn't competitive when it came to Quidditch. She wasn't nearly as athletic as her cousin Oliver; or even as her mother, who still managed to move as if she was on the Pitch even in her forties. And Merlin, the heights. She still remembered Oliver falling off his broom to the ground in fifth year vividly. If that happened to her, Victoria couldn't exactly shift into her animagus form in the middle of the match. Not unless she wanted everyone to know she was an unregistered swan. "What am I going to do?" Victoria murmured. The echo of her voice was broken by the distinct sound of a door lock unlocking. Victoria's eyes fell on the sign hanging on the right of the bathroom door with the words "Occupied. Do not enter." written across it in bold letters. She knew she forgot to do something when she came in. "Don't come in—!" Victoria began to say. The door shut. Percy started at her. Victoria stared at him. "M-My apologies," he stammered. "I didn't realize it was occupied—" Victoria talked at the same moment he did. "I forgot to put the sign up, I'm so sorry—" They paused at the same time. Victoria watched Percy's face get nearly as red as his hair, the same as hers she was sure. She muttered a quick thanks to the gods that she had the sense to use the not-opaque bubbles when she had stepped inside the bath.

Oh I have a very good part for you all

Wyanne turned over in bed and hugged the pillow tighter — “Puffy,” River strained a whisper, “you’re crushing my tail—” She leapt up in alarm as soon as she registered that. “OhmygodsIamsososorry! Are you okay?!” “I’m fine, I’m fine,” he reassured her, sitting up in bed and rubbing the sleep out of his eyes. She was caressing his poor tail and murmuring apologies to it. “...Big day, hm?”

“What…Oh yeah!” She scrambled out of bed excitedly, “last stage of the plan! I am so excited!” She rushed to the bathroom to start her morning routine. Brushing her hair, brushing her teeth, washing her face…

“Hmm…” River appeared from behind, nuzzling into her shoulder as his tail wrapped around her waist. “Can we start later? I’m still tired...” Wyanne rolled her eyes affectionately. “I told you we shouldn’t have stayed up so late.”

“It’s not my fault…” “Yes it was!” Wyanne huffed, “I should’ve let you stay in your dorm. You had too much energy last night and not enough now…” River looked at her reflection in the mirror in mock offense. “You came up with the idea!” “I proposed it, I didn’t say we had to do it immediately!” “Ugh…” River hid his face in the crook of her shoulder again. “We’re never doing it so late again…”

“We definitely will.” She laughed when he nodded with a groan. “We should be more careful next time, though. I hope no one woke up because of us.”

He wears suits with vests but no jackets, prefers dark colors. He's cynical, passionate, cheeky, and his gaze can either pin his interlocutor to the floor or undress them, lol

I'm using Photoshop and start with a ref — or an idea, but that takes longer. I need at least a rough image. My brain isn't great at ideas — I usually find something online.

My sketch is messy — just to map out where things go. If I'm not using lineart, I skip it and paint over the sketch. It looks messier during the process, but it saves time on lineart I don't really need. If I do need lineart, I clean it up until it's decent enough. For this piece, it's more of a 'good enough' approach — just to show how I draw lines. I usually color the lineart dark brown and add the same glow — Layer Style > Color Overlay and Outer Glow.

When it's time to add color, I apply it to the character using roughly the same pattern every time: lighter tones on the cheekbones, around the eyes and under the brows, and on the tip of the nose — with darker shades in the eye sockets and along the cheeks. Then I take a textured smudge brush and blend the colors until I'm satisfied.

For the hair, I use a dedicated hair brush that I've had since 2022 — I've never changed it. The only difference is that I used to skip blending, but now I do, which is why the hair looks softer.

Everything else follows the same logic. I also look at references — some of them have stylized anatomy that works better for cartoons or anime. That was actually the case here — the fingers looked a bit twisted. I only noticed it while coloring, so I used my own hand as a reference instead. (I highly recommend using live references!)

Then I add light using a soft brush through a clipping mask — blending if needed, though I didn't need to for this particular piece.

As for the rest… it's pure random, honestly. Just experimenting. On this piece, there's a bright blue layer on top of everything, set to Color (at 50% opacity), and I used a textured eraser to reveal the face. Then, for a subtle glow effect, I merge the layers, duplicate them, apply Gaussian blur, set the blending mode to Soft Light, and adjust the opacity until it looks pleasant.

And… that's about it, I think. Why isn't there a timelapse? I honestly don't know how to capture my screen without Nvidia — and even if I figured it out, there's no way my 17 GB SSD would survive a 10-hour recording.
