We visited Arlo because they said he wasn't eating and he immediately went to TOWN on the food and was a little nerd. He is at least feeling better, though we're still trying to work out how to pay for everything
Help Pay for Arlo's Surgery
Our cat Arlo is having intestinal surgery to remove some foreign objects he's⦠John Huskey needs your support for Support Arlo's Surgery and
My kitten had to have surgery and I know gofundmes are annoying but if you can spare anything to help I would appreciate it.
I just want to be a little cat with scrambled eggs for brains.
I often see posts about curating your own online experience that make the point, ācontent creators arenāt your parents.ā And, yes, that is absolutely true! And I try not to be like āas a parent,ā but as a parentā¦
EVEN PARENTS ARE SUPPOSED TO ENCOURAGE RESPONSIBLE READING/VIEWING BEHAVIOR. NOT filter everything ahead of time for their kid.
When my kiddo was 5, his pediatrician was asking him the usual Well Child Visit questions (āWhat are your favorite foods? What do you do to get your body moving? Do you know what to do if you get lost in a public place?ā Etc.) and she asked, āWhat do you do if you see something on TV that scares or upsets you?ā
I piped up like, āOh, he doesnāt watch TV without one of us in the room,ā which was true at the time and is still largely true now. She said, āYes, but that wonāt always be the case, so make sure youāre talking to him about what to do if he sees something that upsets him.ā
So we started talking to him about that, and the answer is simple: āTurn it off or leave the room, and talk to someone you trust about what you saw and what youāre feeling.ā
The answer is NOT āAsk your parents to make sure you never see anything upsetting again,ā because thatās just not possible ā and ultimately that would be doing the kid a disservice, since sooner or later heās going to be out in the world where we canāt control what he watches or reads. That doesnāt mean we donāt try to make sure heās watching/reading age-appropriate stuff, it just means thatās not the only safeguard he has ā and thatās a good thing.
So yes, content creators arenāt your parents and arenāt responsible for making sure you never see anything you donāt like ā but also, your own parents should have taught you what to do when that happens. So if they didnāt, take it from me, your internet mom:
Turn it off.
Walk away.
Talk to someone you trust about how youāre feeling.
And leave the person who created the thing that upset you alone.

when people are like āoh so youāre just gonna judge someone for their political beliefs?ā yes actually. I think someoneās values and opinions is a pretty reasonable thing to judge them for.
i want all my friends and followers and mutuals and acquaintances to know from the bottom of my heart: i donāt respond to your messages because iām an insane person, i am insane medieval hermit software running inappropriately on modern queer hardware and social media scares me. it is not your fault
when i get a notifications on my phone i try to kill my phone with a rock
if you want to support autistic people you really do need to shut up about picky eaters. sorry
Internet mobs will be like "why doesnt anyone just ADMIT when theyre WRONG anymore??!!" and then treat someone like they deserve the death penalty because they said something off-colour on twitter when they were 14
No one will admit that they were wrong if you treat being wrong like its an eternal indictment against them with no chance for rehabilitation
these tags, tbh. we fucked up when we allowed "the people you hurt aren't obligated to accept your apology" to shift into "...so you have to shut up and accept whatever abuse is hurled your way no matter what, forever, and if you ever say anything about it, you're deflecting and playing the victim."
all this accomplishes is driving people to double down & refuse to acknowledge any wrongdoing, bc to admit fault would be to accept that you're a Bad Person, which means you deserve whatever you get.
i know this is very specific but i want to extend my love to people who canāt keep things clean. people who struggle with hoarding disorder, people who fear they might one day if someone does not keep them in check, people who donāt understand why this is so hard for them. people who take multiple exhausting days to clean their rooms, people whose rooms and houses are so dirty they catch a cold after trying to clean, people who canāt finish cleaning. people who have struggled since childhood to keep things clean and organized, people for whom this problem developed later, people who have only recently began to struggle. people who have cried so many tears, suffered so much cruelty and yelling from other people, struggled with shame so strong they canāt invite people over. i love each and every one of you. i promise that you are not alone, because i am the same as you. weāll get through it. i promise we will
ADHD at night: I could write a book. I could get my Masterās Degree. I could go to the club and come home with 12 new friends. I could get a job at that club and meet the mother of my children. I could cure every disease and use my wealth to bring world peace.
ADHD during the day: Fold laundry too hard :( Come back next week
Hey. Large chest people that want it to be smaller and flatter. I have a tip for you.
I am a trans man. I have an h cup chest. That is not a typo, not a brag, and not an invitation to sexually harass me. This means I have about 4 pounds of breast. This means that binders do not work for me. Thereās not enough structure in the compression to keep that much weight in place.
I wore a sports bra under my binder, for a time- it kept things in place, and the binder flattened. This isnāt really safe and I recommend against it. It also never actually got me looking masc- I tended to look like I had between a c or b cup. TransTape I discarded too- itās just not sturdy enough.
Enter Enell. Specifically, the Enell Sport High Impact Bra.
I want you to look at the construction of that sports bra. It clasps in the front. This flattens the chest. And since itās a sports bra designed for busty people, it LOCKS everything in place. When I wear my Enell sports bra, I do not bounce. It also gets me looking like I have an a cup at worst- and at best, when I layer, I actually look masc.
Admittedly, theyāre not cheap. That oneās 66$. But Iāve tried even custom binders, and they donāt work as well as Enell. I was actually contemplating a custom built corset before I found Enell. Enell is also much, much safer than layering compression, since it is being used as intended (sort of). As a bonus, you can actually exercise in it- itās a sports bra!
I will note that they use their own sizing system, so you will have to measure yourself.
Happy binding!
For all of my US followers for whom general public official election day is coming up (Nov. 7th) PLEASE do not become so disillusioned with the current state of higher power politicians that you skip out on voting for local offices; off year and local elections are already critically unemphasized but these are the people who have the most direct power over jails, police, school curriculum, etc. Do not let your grief be weaponized as a distraction from also continuing to fight police brutality, queer and bipoc censorship in schools, bodily autonomy, housing inequality, etc, on the smaller scale battlefields where every vote truly does count
It can be so frustrating to vote in small local elections because info is harder to find, but if you take the time to google vote411 and go to their website, get your personal ballot, and then look up the candidates, you will always find that two people are running for a local school board, and one is a lovely person who has slowly been effecting positive change for three decades and the other is a real estate broker who wants more money. And then you have the power to vote against the money asshole and for the nice person in a race that can genuinely go down to a handful of votes. Feels awesome, man. Vote out the bitch who voted against reasonable COVID measures in your local high school 3 years ago.
Election information you need. Brought to you by The League of Women Voters Education Fund.
ALSO if someone is running unopposed and you don't want to vote for them? You can leave it blank! You never have to cast a vote for someone on the ballot if you don't want to.
hey, don't cry. one cup heavy whipping cream, two tablespoons granulated sugar, three tablespoons cocoa powder and whisk until stiff peaks form for three ingredient chocolate mousse, okay?
