Was at a coffee shop (ironically) explaining the show Friends to @ghosty-elle-thingz a bit ago and gave a run-down of all the characters.

I said something about how strange it is that I gravitate more toward Chandler than Joey when, before I watched the show, I was convinced Joey would be my favorite. For context, characters that embody "flirty artsy drama personas" usually become my "kin" or, I guess, whatever the non-kpop version of a bias is.

Chandler doesn't make sense, I mean, isn't he everything I don't want to be? Straight white man with divorced parents and an unfulfilling desk job (no one actually knows what he does). No offense. Just not my lifestyle personally. (He did bag Monica though so not completely different from my life goals)

But then when I described Chandler as "sarcastic only child who uses humor as a coping mechanism" it made 100% sense to Elle and still 0% sense to me. Am I stupid?

After re-watching Bo Burnham's Can't Handle This (Kanye Rant) on YouTube while procrastinating French homework due in an hour, it suddenly made sense. Of course it's Chandler. Of course.

Saw a local theatre’s outdoor production of Twelfth Night and they had the audience wear Hadestown red carnations to indicate if we were comfortable with actor to audience interaction

This is how I was reached for by Sir Toby, front row seat to Andrew’s kickshaws, and given lots and LOTS of commentary by Feste

Feste was in a tea-spilling mood during intermission so I asked them wth is going on with the Duke Orsino and Cesario & we both agreed it was sus and gay asf

Also during intermission was a raffle (I had bought a Folger edition of Henry V and with it came 10 raffle tickets) but I was also waiting for the crowd of people who left for the restroom to return so I could go and while I was gone, I WON! Like Han Jisung idol, like Han Jisung bias ig lol

Season 3, Episode 25 finale "The One At The Beach"

So you’re telling me Joey (in an attempt to get over a girl) adopts a baby chick and Chandler’s just like, “yeah, this is fine w me” which Joey probably neglected to mention entirely bc (knowing him) it was a spur of the moment type thing

After being told by Phoebe that it requires CONSTANT care and attention, Chandler proceeds to call in sick for work and spend the whole day singing “Old MacDonald” to it (repeatedly) until Joey comes home, then argues with him over leaving the chick alone

And then he was supposed to return “Miss Yasmine” the chick, but morally couldn’t when he found out they were going to kill her, later ended up adopting a duck while he was at it (likely to avoid it getting killed too!)

Gave the duck a bath with other rubber ducks and even pulled up a stool so that the chick could watch and feel involved too, Joey then tries to see if the chick can swim, and Chandler has to rescue the poor thing from drowning

I haven’t finished season 4, so there’s probably more I’ll add to this later

got bored. started writing an au where a bunch of shakespeare characters live in a sitcom apartment building. behold:

• beatrice and benedick are hallway neighbors and the ultimate will-they-won’t-they

• the macbeths are the neighbors upstairs who are always either bickering or having loud sex or committing atrocities

• juliet finally saved up enough to move out of her parents’ house and she’s ready to make bad decisions when it comes to love

• orsino and olivia are exes who find out they both have been dating the exact same person

• puck is the neighborhood weed dealer

• everyone knows kate is too good for petruchio and wonders if they’re just together because they have the same kinks (that’s exactly why)

• horatio and benvolio are the stablest people in the building. their boyfriends hamlet and mercutio are the least stable

• helena is super upset over her bestie hermia getting married and says it’s because she wants to find a man herself but she’s not fooling anyone

As a Shakespeare student currently obsessed with Friends, I would binge tf outta this

Need someone to make one of those “who are you sitting next to on the bus” templates but it’s an apartment building with “who are you rooming with/sharing a wall with”

I, for one, would love my room to be sandwiched between Olivia and Orsino like that Anne Hathaway pic

I also wouldn’t mind living with Juliet to get all the tea on Romeo or to talk her out of taking any… “melatonin” gummies…

Flashback to when I read Notes from Underground by Dostoevsky for LitArts class

It was a torture to read if I’m being honest, but sometimes you get moments like this

They oscillate between “wtaf man, you creep, you weirdo” and “ohh he’s so me”

I know we like to laugh at the timing of Benedick's love confession in Much Ado...and that's fair! A lot of productions play up the "oh god WHY did I say that NOW??" vibe. It can be hilarious!

However, in some productions, that scene is played more sombrely. And I think that way of reading the text makes clear that the declaration wasn't some ridiculous lack of self-control on Benedick's part, but actually a very natural progression of their conversation. Which is all about Beatrice's inability as a woman to intervene for her cousin, and the fact that, as a single woman, she has no man to stand up on her behalf.

I mean...if the woman you loved was weeping and in great distress, and you kept offering to help, but she said that intervening on her behalf was "a man's office, but not yours" (subtext: because we are not a couple, and only couples act that way in our society)

wouldn't you be like I WANT TO BE A COUPLE, I LOVE YOU???
