daemonusdea:
Shoulders come to roll, the Intoner huffing out a release of tension. An unforeseen battle was always irritating, but such was the misery of her existence. No rest for the wicked, they said– and wicked could barely even compare to her rotting carcass, how dreadful she was. Perhaps not as dreadful as she thought, once teamed up coincidentally with a mystery of a man who should have aimed and fired at her as well…Why didn’t he?
The sight of her isn’t a friendly one, spatterings of gore dotting vividly about the stark whiteness of her clothing, dripping in thick tendrils off her blade that’s none sharper than the lone eye she blankly pierces into him with. A silent unease, she seems just as ready to strike should the moment shatter– but her brow merely furrows as he offers his thanks and pulls his weapon beneath his cloak. After all that, did he garner even a shred of trust in her-?
“ You sure you should be so chummy? It was all luck that I was needing to kill those bastards, too. You could’ve been the next one I slaughtered, and to be honest I’m still thinking about it. “ That cruel voice stays even, languid in spite of everything. At least she’s relaxed, for now, head turning so her eye can look him over. She clicks her tongue and breathes a huff of amusement through her nose, unabashedly looking to those sharp reds of his.
“ That’d be a funny new concept– - the man who met Zero and lived. “
“ don’t get the wrong idea. i consider you no more a friend than you do myself. “ came a voice as rough and raw as gravel. her animosity came as no surprise to vincent ; who’d only greeted it with a brief shrug of his shoulders, ivory teeth ( sharp, and pristine ) gleaming as golden gauntlet rose to tug at the collar of his cloak. he harbored no desire to pick unnecessary fights, however, if it came to be what she wanted - he’d have no choice but to oblige.
“ an even more humorous one would be the slaying of a man who cannot die. “ he’d echo, albeit somewhat bitterly ; the curse of immortality having long ago soured upon him. destined to lose your friends, family, and loved ones ; time and time again. it was a fate he wouldn’t wish on even the worst of his enemies -- and here he was, stuck with it.
with their ... greetings, out of the way, there was little left to discuss -- and as he went to turn on his heels, the sudden, irritating realization that he hadn’t the slightest clue of his destination came barreling forth. with a small, inaudible sigh, he’d prop a hand against his hp, hidden beneath his blanket of crimson. “ you know anything about a ‘ cathedral city ‘ ? " he’d inquire, fully aware that with no real incentive for an answer, it was unlikely he’d get one.
