Admittedly, Val wasnât the best at sneaking around rooms; after all, a âgothâ ghost with a shaved head and poor paranormal abilities stuck out amongst the pink hued sorority dorms. But, that never stopped her from trying. However, the past couple of rooms had been a bust - all she found cheap jewelry that turned her tiny fingers green and cheaper weed that did nothing for her. Opening the door to the next room, the ghost froze up at the sight of someone else in the room⊠but relaxed as she noticed that he stuck out far worse than her. Val shuffled further into the room, saying, âJewelry box probably just has shit from Forever 21 in there, dude.â
The boy was practically destroying the room as he flung things around, looking for anything useful or worth a couple bucks. Cheap plastic earrings and necklaces were the gist of it, but as he heard a noise from behind he flung everything to the floor, his hand reaching for his gun, immediately aiming it at whoever it was. He finally caught sight, though, and as he saw the girl, he rolled his eyes, shoving his gun back in his waistband. âDonât sneak up on peopleâ and fucktards on the street couldnât tell the difference.â
Val held her hands up at the sight of the gun, more annoyed and shock than actually scared of it. "You plan on fucking shooting some random frat boy if they sneak up on you?" The ghost said, brow arching up as she put her hands back down. "You sure, man? Because I'm pretty sure any 'fucktard'," she drawled, crouching down beside a bed and lifting up the dust ruffle, "can tell the difference of a three dollar ring to a three hundred dollar one." She smiled as she pulled out a heavy shoebox from underneath, hoping for something good. Peeling off the lid, she pulled out a fifth of Jack Daniels and a baggie of weed. Val set the bottle beside her and opened the bag, sniffing quickly before tossing the bag on top of the bed. "If you need reefer, kid, help yourself."
@valgibson
It was the third room so farâ the last two he had scoured had absolutely nothing. Though, what did he expect? These were some broke-ass college students living off of minimum wage and using their last cent on some petty beer. Idiots. He scoffed to himself at the thought as he barged in, immediately heading towards the jewelry box he spotted from across the room.

Val smiled, shrugging her shoulders at Averyâs question. âIf pewter is dark silver, then yeah,â she answered with a chuckle, tossing her the short-shorts. The petite ghost moved to sit on the floor, skinny legs stretched out in front of her. âAnd hey, no problem, dude. Just tell me if you need me to find other shit for you.â
âI can definitely make this work! Thank you so much!â She shrugged off her jeans, slipping on the tight-fitting shorts. âHm, not too bad.â She shrugged, grabbing the paints and lathering herself in the black. Once she was mostly covered, aside from her face, she began looking for a makeup brush to draw the bones. âI think Iâm good, but did you happen to see a makeup bag? I need a brush.â
At Averyâs request, Val nodded, scorching towards the vanity using her read and arms - anything to not stand up and walk. She opened up a drawer, pale hands pushing through the sea of makeup debris until she found a gold, glittery makeup bag. âis this what you were looking for?â She asked, setting it on top of the counter for the redhead.
valgibson:
Val set the mask down at Averyâs question, standing up and walking to the closet. âIâll check,â she said, sticking her head inside the space. At first, nothing sparkly caught her eye. âI donât think -â she gasped in surprise as her gaze landed on something dark and glittery. âWait, wait wait,â the spirit said, reaching over and grabbing the item. She held it up to the light - pewter, not black. âNot black, but it might work,â Val announced holding them out for Avery to grab.
Avery waited in anticipation, hoping something good would come out of that closet. Tonight was their night, and she just wanted it to be good. As the pants were pulled out, she gasped. âIs that pewter?â She grinned, grinning at her new friend. âYouâre a lifesaver, you know that?â
Val smiled, shrugging her shoulders at Averyâs question. âIf pewter is dark silver, then yeah,â she answered with a chuckle, tossing her the short-shorts. Val snorted out a laugh at Averyâs okay, peeling off her ratty Mötley Crue shirt, ripped jeans, and boots and leaving them in a pile on the floor. At the girlâs gasp, the ghost whipped her head around, a wide smile prominent on her lips. âFuck yeah!â She chuckled out, grabbing the skeleton costume and slipping it on. With some difficulty, she zipped up the back and pulled on her heavy boots, sitting down on the bed. âYouâre gonna look bitchinâ with that paint on you,â she said, picking up the mask, worn in with a black upside down cross painted on the forehead.
Avery stuck her tongue out. âWhat? Itâs true.â Her lips turned up into a smirk. She gathered all the paint, throwing it on the bed. âYou need some help? Ah shit, damn, never mind, you got it.â She laughed, glancing back tot he paint. âI know, right?â She giggled, beginning to take off her shirt. She had a bralette under it. Though, she saw the hot pants on the floor. âShit, are there any black ones in that closet?â

Val followed Avery into the room, tossing the costume onto the bed. Her gaze landed on something sparkly in the closet. She went towards it and pulled it out; a gold sparkly pair of hot pants. The brunette held them up to herself before scrunching up her nose, throwing them on the ground. She couldnât pull those off⊠right? Sheâd have to try them on one day with no one around. âWhile youâre searching for shit, Iâm gonna put on the costume, if thatâs cool with you,â Val said, shrugging off her leather jacket and tossing it onto the bed..
It wasnât long before the young girl found something of use to herâ some skeleton-bone peel offs. She nodded to herself, though the girlâs question caught her attention. âYeah, go ahead, not like I donât have the same shit as you.â She chuckled, but immediately gasped in surprised as she found the body paint. âFinally!â

Val raced behind Avery, a giggle leaving her lips. Finally, someone close to her age and style to spend time with. However, a heavy boot stepping on a loose floor board, she slowed down. âWait, my costume might be around here,â Val said, glancing at the wall. The creepy photograph of a clown she hung herself was there, reminding her where she hid some of her personal items. She leaned down, lifting up the board with little difficulty - inside was the mask and costume, along with other various items including a yo-yo. She grabbed the costume parts and moved the board back into place, picking up the pace again. âOkay, to sorority rooms now!â
Avery stopped in her tracks, letting the other girl do what she had to, seeing as she herself had no idea where it was. She had explored this house top to bottom and still hadnât found that particular hiding place. âOh, nice.â She nodded. And once she was done, a grin lit up her lips. âOff we go!â She dashed down the hall, zooming into a room and beginning to raid the drawers.

valgibson:
âYeah, course I will,â Val said, nodding her head. Thank God or whoever was listening - she wouldnât have to spend the day alone. She clapped her hands together, already trying to think of something. âI have a skeleton costume somewhere, I could wear the body part and you could have the mask if you want!â She exclaimed, already making her way down the hall.
âEeeep!â The girl squealed with joy, happy to have someone by her side to share this great night with. She zoomed down the halls, not quite used to her ghosting abilities yet. I know a couple sorority girls who I can steal some body makeup from too! h shit, this is gonna be awesome!â

Val followed behind Avery to the window eager eyes looking down to the ground. However, her gaze stuck to that patch of grass where she died all those decades ago, a small lump forming in her throat. She was standing in the spot that bitch was in that night. All but the red headâs last question flew over her head, shaking herself out of the daze to look at the fellow ghost. âYouâll probably be fine, people will only think they saw you. But, if youâre really worried about it, wear a mask or put some heavy makeup on or something. â
âWait, so youâll go with me?â Inside, Avery was jumping around with joy. She had recently come to hate being alone, even though she had pushed everyone away. But Val, even from only knowing her for a bit, had flown in to save the day. âOkay, youâre like, stealing the top spot on my friends list right nowâ Câmon! Letâs go get ready!â

Val furrowed her brow at Averyâs words, before black-painted lips turned into an âoâ. âOh, fuck, youâre new to all this, you donât know!â The brunette exclaimed, a ring adorned hand running over her buzzed head. âAlright, hereâs the deal-io,â Val began to explain, âus little ghosties can leave the house on Halloween. Dope, right? Some weird shit, I donât know how it works exactly, but we have all day to fuck around Los Angeles like not dead people.â
âDonât know what?â The girlâs eyebrows furrowed, scrunching up as she listened. Suddenly, she broke out into a gasp. âWaitâ so weâre like, alive-ish for the night? Why the hell didnât anyone tell me?â She exclaimed, running towards the window, but she stopped. âWait, the entire city knows Iâm dead⊠what if someone sees me?â

Val instantly perked up at the sound of her name, her gaze settling on a familiar redhead. Fuck, whatâs her name again? âThatâs my name, donât wear it out,â the brunette said with a wide smile, pushing her herself back up. âWhatâs up, Avery?â She asked, mentally high-fiving herself for remembering the girlâs name. âWhy arenât you partying it up out there?â Val add, head cocking to the side as she pointed to the window at the end of the hallway.
Avery smiled, if only slightly, at the girlâs humor. âIâm okay, as good as I can be right now.â She shrugged, moving a bit closer to stand beside her. âI uhâ canât leave, remember? The whole dead thing?â She cocked a brow, wondering if the girl had acquired some kind of brain damage or amnesia since they last talked.
Val furrowed her brow at Avery's words, before black-painted lips turned into an 'o'. "Oh, fuck, you're new to all this, you don't know!" The brunette exclaimed, a ring adorned hand running over her buzzed head. "Alright, here's the deal-io," Val began to explain, "us little ghosties can leave the house on Halloween. Dope, right? Having no plans for Halloween always bothered Val. She wanted to go out, explore the world she couldnât go to on the one day she could. But instead, the petite ghost found herself trailing down the hallway, popping pieces of candy into her her mouth. She paused at one part of the hall, glancing around before moving to sit down against the wall. Nothing to do and hardly any other spirits lurking aroundâŠ. It was Valâs worst nightmare. All she wanted was someone to talk to, just for a little. With a sigh, she slumped against the wall and placed the bag of candy on the ground beside her, brown eyes looking around the hallway in the hopes of spotting someone.
Everything was new to the young red head. Avery had learned almost nothing other than the fact that she was dead but haunting, and that she couldnât leave the property. Thatâs it. Nothing else. She had been keeping to herself the past few weeks, rarely coming out of hiding. She no longer trusted anyone. Well, almost anyone. Wandering around the house, Avery spotted a slightly familiar face. ââŠVal?â

âAvery,â Val repeated the girlâs name, stopping herself before saying any variation of ânice to meet youâ to her. She could only assume that it wasnât a pleasant for the redhead, considering the circumstances. At Averyâs words, the petite ghost couldnât help but cringe. âAlright, bud, but remember donât shoot the messenger, okay?â She started, holding her hands up innocently.
âYouâre dead,â Val stated simply, a sigh following her words. âYou said someone took you to the lawn right after you got stabbed? Whoever dies on this house kinda just stays here,â she explained, wishing she had someone to explain it all to her when she passed away. Instead, she had to figure it out herself - something that took longer than sheâd care to admit. âDonât know how it works exactly, but yeah. Dead. Sorry, man.â
âAlright, alrightâ I-I get it, messenger, not maker.â She nodded vigorously, trying to pry the information out of the other girl. She had to know, she needed to know. It was killing her inside, though she had no idea how true that was.
âYâYeah, she lied me down, held meâŠâ Suddenly, the words processed in her mind. Dead. No, that couldnât be. Sheâs alive, sheâs sitting on the floor, talking to a human being, alive⊠right? âN-No⊠Youâre lying, right? Tell me⊠Tell me youâre lying.â
Hearing Avery, Val couldn't help but feel a pang in her chest, right where she had been stabbed all those years ago. "... I wish I was lying," she said, figuring that moment wasn't the best time to crack a joke. The older spirit sat down, across from the redhead, back leaning against the wall. "But, uh... I'm not." She grimaced at the sound of her own words. Sugar-coating words was never her strong suit. "Fucking sucks ass, but it's the truth. Lots of other people here in your... our situation, too."

The petite spirit dropped her hands, awkwardly watching the redhead for a moment. âIâm Val,â she responded, a ring adorned hand running along her scalp. She listened - or at least, attempted to, never able to fully pay attention to one thing - as the girl talked, nodding her head along. Well, shit. Val didnât want to be the bearer of bad news to the girl, but it seemed as if that she would have to be. âOkay, okay, I think I know whatâs happening,â she replied, scrunching her nose up. âBut, youâre not gonna like it. Just donât hit me when I tell you, okay?â
âIâIâm AveryâŠ.â The girl was so confused. Everything that had happened was whirling around her head, calling her from every angle. He hand tugged at her stiff hair, trying to grasp onto any form of reality. The crushing feeling of that night weighed down on her chest.
She snapped her neck over, wide eyes staring the girl down. âY-You do? Tell me! TâTell me!â
"Avery," Val repeated the girl's name, stopping herself before saying any variation of 'nice to meet you' to her. Back when she died, the first thing Val remembered when waking up was the distinct taste of blood and grass, followed by how cool she was despite the morning sun pounding against her black leather jacket. Strange, she had thought all those years ago. Even stranger when she tried to walk through the gate, only to reappear at the spot she woke up from. Seven times.
Val shuffled through the hallways, heavy boots thudding with each step until she spotted someone on the floor ten feet in front of her. She stopped, staring in confusement at the body. Did someone pass out on the way to their room? The ghost had done that before, back when she was alive. However, as the person, a young redhead, began to stand up, the girl made her way over to help. âEasy there, chief,â she said, holding out both her hands for the redhead to take. At the girlâs question, Val furrowed her brow. âShit. Kind of, man,â she answered, keeping her gaze on the girl. âWhat happened to you?â
Her fingers were cool to the touchâ it was the first thing she noticed as Avery flung to grab hold of her stab wound, a wound that wasnât there. But that couldnât be. She was stabbed, she was sure of it. Hell, she could still feel the tingling sensation of the metal inside her, but her body was saying no.
Someone rounded the hall corner, an unfamiliar face, but at this point, Avery didnât give a shit. âWâWho are you?â It was the first thing she could force to ask. Though there were so many more questions racing through her mind. What happened to you? âIâŠ. I donât knowâŠ. I swear Iâ I was stabbed andâŠ.and then.. natâ Natalie brought me to the house, and IâŠâ
