Sterek Week 2015: Day 3 - The Hunter’s Moon
Stiles’ plans were never to stay in Beacon Hills after high school. He wanted to travel, see the world, go to college somewhere warm and sunny that wasn’t California and then come back for his dad after having graduated in whatever course he had set his mind to. Discovering he was nothing short of a wizard cut his plans right at the root and Stiles found himself stuck in Deaton’s magical shop, learning how to control and harness his powers in a way he unfortunately wouldn’t have managed by himself without accidentally hurting himself or someone else.
Living in Beacon Hills at 19, though, turned out to be as great as he’d hoped - not great at all. He was tired of doing magic spells that didn’t work, worried for his father’s health that was slowly getting worse and, worst of all, he was lonely, his only company a wolf plushie called Sourwolf that he owned since his mother died when he was barely 10 years old.
One day, Stiles finds a spell book not unlike many others he’d read. Written on its pages, though, is a spell on how to turn an inanimate object into a living thing and, desperate with loneliness, Stiles takes Sourwolf into the woods and under the moon he sings his prayers for a new friend. Instead of a breathing wolf pet to cuddle with, Stiles ends up discovering Sourwolf wasn’t just a simple toy, but Derek Hale, a boy who had disappeared 9 years ago on the day of the Hale fire and everyone thought to be dead.
