this is a sideblog for silly game screenshots, memes and rambles. basically anything that i don't like posting to my art blog lol. nothing will be that serious due to me keeping that to people close to me and not the public. however i can be somewhat mature.

Pokemon has never had a generation where all three starter pokemon are mammals. Two generations- gens 1 and 3- have had zero mammals, and from gens 5-8 there've been two mammals to pick from, but none have had three mammals. I think this is an important part of the franchise's brand.
Back when gen 8 got leaked someone pointed out that you can generally tell a real GameFreak Pokedex from a fakemon dex by the amount of "ugly" pokemon and the number of invertebrates and inanimate objects, and I think there's a similar thing going on here- Pokemon genuinely makes an effort to make its monsters varied.
The last 15ish years have seen so much ink spilled on the Vanillish line, on gen 1 designs, etc etc, but I think it bears repeating how easy it is for a Mons game to stick to charismatic animals like mammals and birds and dinosaurs and pets. And pokemon does have that (we have, what, six cat lines? more if you count regional meowths) but it also makes sure to add, like. A crinoid. A bagworm. A bell. Creepy humanoid mushrooms, a sand castle, a big iceberg.
Something would be lost if every single pokemon was as cool as Haxorus or as cute as Snom or as furrybait as Goodra. Pokemon succeeds because it lets you be best friends with shit that's just weird.

i did it. i reviewed every Pal in Palworld.
there’s this term i coined in my friendgroup i call “the charizard effect” and it can apply to anything and everything, but it was born from me explaining my feelings about the pokemon charizard. the term is basically about how overexposure to something be it by corporate shilling or fandom prominence drives me away from really enjoying something bc i’m exposed to it so much against my will i become tired of it. it came to me bc i was ranting about how tpci does not, and cannot stop reinventing charizard, and how it is popular and obtusely included in almost every region, merch, etc in every way possible and it’s highly commodified.
i dont dislike the pokemon charizard, in fact i really like its X form, but i am exposed to so much charizard in my pokemon consumption that i cant be bothered to care for it in any more than in passing. this applies to a bunch of other stuff i’d otherwise be ok with, but i always just call this aversion phenomena “the charizard effect”

ok the big thing is the sar/sir so i'll start with it first
i think this got fucked by how its scanned. sure i would've loved a proper background (such as that doublade ir but its in a throne room instead) but the rainbow and glitter will be the result of reflection. i can sliiiightly see a purple fiery/shadowy vortex background. also i like glitter, i got a mega froslass card with it and its very cool. i see it working with a spacey background like this. though i'd rather have the white flare one rn its actually gorgeus irl
i can see myself going apeshit over the full art though because i love the mega ones! also they seem to be going for blue and pink for chandy which is my colors.......bi/pan king..... might be one of the best regular ex cards oh my god little baby
