It was for some time that the vampire Carmilla remained hidden. After the events with General Spielsdorf and her near-fatal defeat she had chosen to hide from all who might know her. This included Mamma, who for the time being believed her to be dead. After her long recovery she quickly began searching for Laura, hoping to find her ― And to perhaps apologize if it seemed fitting. However, Laura and her father had left for Italy. No distance would separate them, Carmilla determined, and she followed after. By the time Carmilla found the small family, Laura’s papa believed she was on her death bed. Laura had been declining more rapidly since Carmilla’s supposed death. Because they all believed that the vampire was dead nearly all precautions and securities were lax. It wasn’t difficult for the raven haired woman to slip into the room and sit by Laura’s bedside. Carmilla hesitated to extend her reach to the prone figure beneath the quilts. When finally she did, it was with a heavy sigh. She knew she would either see Laura die a tragically young death or she would offer to bring the petite blonde into the realm of darkness.
