when kenzo was 17 he tried to deliberately drink himself to death bc he was so scared of becoming a legal adult and the responsibilities that would bring
he was saved by vinnie who suspects it was deliberate, even if kenzo claims it was an accident
when his mom died, he was meant to travel to the outer rim to attend the funeral but he got too nervous (funeral in general, seeing dad again, seeing saya again) and drank heavily before his flight, leading him to miss it and miss his mother's funeral
this permanently soured him and his younger sister saya's relations, as saya carries a grudge against him for leaving her to handle all the funeral arrangements by herself (also their father is a very difficult person, and she had to handle him by herself, be his caregiver alone) (also who the fuck misses their own mother's funeral)
later on kenzo found out saya had been in debt to a loan shark, and kenzo went out of his way to hunt the guy down (despite saya telling him not to), and managed to kill him. but while wiping out sayas debt he got himself killed
so nothing in that family went to plan and everything sucks
Ilona's entire vibe is black, her eyes are black, she doesn't really wear colour or jewelry after she took her wedding ring off. Maybe red for blood or gold for the little jewelry she has

Large and spacey, adjacent to a room with his very own pool. Kinda messy, clothes strewn here and there, sheer and drapey curtains and wall hangings, a canopy on the bed, mediterranean colours and patterns, plenty of blue, stained glass and sea glass, beaded curtains. It very much looks like a coral reef. The beads clink if there's a draft.
Surprisingly small, pretty ascetic and very dark. Used to be a closet/storage room but after her husband died she shut herself into it. Has maybe one window and even that one has slats/thick curtains so sunlight doesn't get in. Small bed that only fits her, comfy bedding, neatly made every day, the whole room is very neat. One candle on the nightstand. She doesn't like anyone else intruding, very safe and comfortable spot for her.

Maddox would be an over-the-top student who would actually shank a bitch for the lead role in the school musical. Suspended like twice a year for physically attacking someone who tried to bully him or someone else.
Ilona was a manager at a coffee shop that had to close because a customer had a Mysterious Ailment after yelling at a barista.

He knows when it is, he takes the opportunity to have a proper bash, sure he always performs when Angharad arranges something but with her permission he will be the main star this time. He sings, there's food and drink, it's fun.
She doesn't know, but her father always celebrated it on the anniversary that he found her and took her in so that became her birthday. Eamon asked for it and he would celebrate his wife, then after his passing she stopped keeping track. Jamie tried to find it out, and now Braith is trying too, but she keeps it to herself.

He's a believer, why not be when the gods are very much a real thing. His faith leans towards revering gods of music, love and the ocean, but he doesn't really worship other than use his singing talents.
She believes, doesn't do anything about it, no prayers or idols other than asking the harvestman to take a hopeless patient silently and without pain.

He's quite an open book, he likes talking about himself, doesn't like to repress anything. If anything, people are surprised he speaks [Irish], they're used to [Welsh] and know he knows [Greek].
Nobody who's alive knows that she killed Eamon and aborted their child, and she's not telling. She would want to get closer to Braith and open her heart, but it's very scary.

While he loves folk music in all the languages he knows, he's written and composed a lot of his material himself. He also likes dressing up and accessorizing.
She used to make friendship bracelet style knotted threads, wore them in her hair and decorated things with them, but hasn't made one in a long while.

Loves it, fun to dance in or just lay under. Hydrating.
maddox gets in minor trouble and accused of flirting with merope but he's just A) excited to have a mutual language, B) naturally outgoing and flirty and C) averse to shirts
need to add more language barriers around. fenrir only speaks his own language (guess norwegian?) and is ashamed of it bc konoe is fluent in it and angharad speaks it passably. merope learned norwegian as a child bc part of fenrir's territory but also speaks her own greek and taught it to the kids + fenrir knows a few words. hassaleh speaks konoe and angharad's languages (suppose japanese and welsh respectively) though, and angharad's ambassador to fenrir's court is a legit interpreter so they can also help. silva speaks his mother's language (which would be brazilian portuguese) bc she taught it to him before she died, and he then learned the local language but knows both.
the maned wolf is very clumsy in japanese but native in brazilian portuguese so he relies pretty heavily on silvas guidance which works better than well since silva is more or less his supervisor (also silva was very rusty in his own language, its nice to be able to use it finally). the entertainer spy in konoe's court has lived in so many places in his life he speaks a lot of languages at least passably, and nobody knows his native is actually the same as vasili's. barely uses it. very useful if he happens to overhear a discussion between konoe and vasili that they think nobody else understands. he would mainly speak either chinese (easy to talk with lan fen) or hindi (would get along with neelanjana). but he knows also japanese pretty well. curious guy.
growing up and working mercenary jobs in a place where it snows a lot in winter -> a horse wouldn't be able to go through the deepest banks or it would be really slow and dangerous for the animal -> fenrir is absolutely devastating on skis
