late to the party is better than never, of course. i hear you because it's funny to think on first watch, the first episode of the show didn't really grab me. so i just told myself i'd give it the second and then bail if i didn't like it, not knowing the show would become my whole personality for a while. i'm going to sound mental saying this, but i'd been practicing the brummie accent long before i landed the role. because if you're going to quote the show, you should have the accent down, yeah? it's important! it's an extremely distinct accent indeed, and here i am just hoping i don't let fellow fans down. thank you, and trust me when i say if i could talk about it, i would. but we can always talk peaky blinders on its own! did you already see the immortal man?

But I do think having been such a fan beforehand must've helped enormously. You already knew the rhythm of that world and how people speak in it, rather than having to come in completely cold. And I'm sure you're worrying far more about letting the fans down than you need to. And I've been the absolute worst because I still haven't got round to The Immortal Man. I know, I know. It makes me an especially terrible friend because my girl Rebecca is in it, so I've really got no excuse whatsoever. It's firmly at the top of my list, though, and I will watch it very soon before she personally disowns me.

I think I had an out of body expierence and everything else after that was on autopilot. Still pinching myself every time someone reminds me it was a real thing that happened. Knowing how talented Anne is, it's not a shock to me that she also recieved that note, she's more than deserving of it. But knowing the two of us were the only ones to recieve it during the filming of The Odyssey was particular exciting. The women are constantly winning. He's responsible for some of the most compelling art of our generation. I'm just happy I didn't pass out. Would you like to work with him? I could see it happening. You're incredible and he would really appreciate your attention to detail when it comes to characterisation.

The fact that you and Annie were the only two makes it even better. I'd be absolutely insufferable about it, personally. I'd find a way to casually bring it into conversations that had nothing to do with acting. And God, yes, of course I'd work with him. In a heartbeat. I think you'd be hard pressed to find an actor who wouldn't. The way he builds these enormous worlds but still manages to make the characters feel like the most important part of them is fascinating to me. I'd probably terrify myself beforehand by doing far too much preparation, though. And that's such a lovely thing for you to say, by the way. Put in a good word for me the next time you see him.

oh, completely unreal. you're asking me if i had a moment on set of it being surreal to be in peaky blinders like i didn't feel that way walking onto set just about every day. though as a longtime fan of the show, it's absolutely surreal being part of the verse. it's all treating me well though, even if i can't talk about it as much as i'd like to. doing promo might be a relief this time around just to be allowed to say anything at all. i didn't know you were a fan of the show though, i love hearing that!

Oh, I can only imagine. I think I'd be exactly the same. And yes, I've been a fan for years! I was late to the party, admittedly, but once I started I absolutely flew through it. I completely understand why people became so obsessed with it. Was the Brummie accent easy for you to get the hang of, or was that one of those things that sounded deceptively simple until you actually had to do it? It's such a distinctive accent, and I imagine the Peaky fans are also protective of that. I know you can't tell me anything about the story, so I won't even try to tempt you. But I am very much looking forward to seeing you in that world.

Ten months? I bet they're super cute. I love that age for kids so much. They really start to develop their personality at that age. She'll be eleven months in just a few days, which feels completely impossible. You're right, though. This age is such fun. yes, of course. the show will be nothing without Buck and that is the only way it could end correctly. Buck dying and the firehouse breaking up. and then for the reboot twin brother. i have a plan. i just can't get behind them continuing on in the 118 after the show ends. hmmmmmm i don't know if he has, he enjoy the chaos it's fun. bruises are all part of the gig and i will say that i have handed over some of the stunts to my stunt guy, after i pulled my calf i thought it was probably the best.

You've got the ending planned, the aftermath planned, and somehow we've already reached the point of introducing a long lost twin brother. I'm almost impressed by the commitment. I still think you're completely wrong, though. Buck has been through enough. The poor man deserves to finish the series with his feet up for once instead of bleeding somewhere. And I'm very pleased you've started letting your stunt double do a bit more. I know you love throwing yourself into everything, but pulling your calf does rather feel like your body trying to have a word with you. There's no shame in letting someone else take the bigger hits every now and then.

It's a miracle we've managed to stay in touch at all. And don't feel guilty about not meeting Lyra. Life has been wonderfully chaotic for both of us, and we'll fix it. Besides, when you do finally meet her, she'll probably spend the entire time trying to steal your jewellery or climb into your lap because she seems to think everyone exists purely to entertain her. Can I also just say how unbelievably proud I am of you? You're taking over Hollywood and making it look effortless. What is it this year... five films premiering? It's completely outrageous. I don't know how you're managing it all, but I love watching the rest of the world see the legend you are. And hearing you talk about this pregnancy makes me so happy. you kind of a clocked me a good bit since it usually is just disappearing and playing golf when i can. i know it's not for everyone but it's the perfect way to unwind and relax. it is, isn't it? there's people out there who seem to always be on the go and not quite sure they even know what a day off looks like.

I wrapped a film a few weeks ago, so I've been soaking up every possible second with my little girl before work sweeps me away again. Romance is.. I don't know, I think that's the most proper answer I can give. Career-wise, I can't complain either. I wrapped a film a few weeks ago, so I've been making the most of being home with my little girl before everything gets hectic again. She's ten months now. She's crawling everywhere, determined to investigate absolutely everything, and has somehow already figured out that if she smiles at me, she can get away with almost anything. What about you? Did you finish Beatles bootcamp?

I think it starts to feel more normal when your kid knows how to proper feed themselves and you don't have to worry about mess getting all over clothes. yours and theirs. So probably around that two and a half to three year old sort of phase. And when there's less diapers involved. So less mess all around. But it's always going to be a good balancing act between the two. Community around you is important.

Well, that's both reassuring and slightly alarming because mine is only ten months, so it sounds as though I've still got quite a bit of yoghurt in my future. You're right about community, though. I don't think people talk about that enough. Everyone always asks how you're balancing work and motherhood, but they rarely ask who's helping you balance it. I don't think I'd be managing nearly as well without family willing to swoop in when I need them.

The closest I got to the MCU was through Sony, but we don't talk about Morbius. Like, ever. Honestly, I would not be surprised if there was an alternate universe where it happens. I mean, God knows the MCU loves a multiverse plot! I do need to prep for Doomsday, though. I'm for sure squeezing in a marathon – in chronological order of events, of course – sometime before December. I just need to get through a couple of premieres and Man of Tomorrow, and then I'll be free! that is, in fact, a very important question. i think it depends on the project and how intense the day has been. if it's something that demands more than i'm mentally prepared to give, then i'm the type to bring it home with me. no matter how hard i try to distract myself by reading or watching some shitty movie, it's still there, lingering in the back of my mind and before i know it i'm awake until the butt crack of dawn. but you and i sound pretty similar in that sense. so, lately i've been busy promoting the new season of outer banks, but right now i'm spending some time with my boyfriend in korea. what about you, though? what have you been up to?

I knew it wasn't just me. It's quite cruel that your brain decides that now, at one in the morning, is the perfect time to revisit a scene you filmed three weeks ago or suddenly become fascinated by something completely unrelated. It's exhausting. I'm glad you're getting some time in Korea, though. Promotion is lovely until you've answered the same question for the fifteenth time in a day. I wrapped a film a few weeks ago. So right now I'm doing my absolute best to soak up as much time with my little girl as I can before everything gets busy again. I've got another film coming up, and then before I know it we'll all be thrown back into the Doomsday press circus in November. I'm not complaining, mind you. I love the work. I'm just trying to enjoy this little pocket of normal life while it lasts because it always seems to disappear far quicker than I expect.

yes, there is. in fact i have stated a few times that if/when the show ends Buck must die. that is the only way i will have it. sooooo it might be me that is really helping the writing decide what to do with Buck and put him in danger a lot.

I'm sorry, you've been encouraging them? Oliver, that's an outrageous abuse of your influence. Buck is not allowed to. The poor man has earned a peaceful afternoon at the very least. Although I do have to admire the commitment. Most actors ask for fewer bruises. You're campaigning for your own fictional demise.

He actually said "Perfect" and I think I actually might have blacked out for a second. There are a lot of things you expect being cast in a movie like this, but that really wasn't one of them and I don't think I've physically recovered from it. I wish the cameras had caught it because I could watch that on a loop for hours and not grow tired. I definitely tried to play it cool, but it's Christopher Nolan, that holds weight. Anne Hathaway was also another actor he gave that note to and I don't think either of us fully digested it at the time.

I'd have had to excuse myself for five minutes just to stare at a wall and process what had happened. I don't think there's any amount of pretending to be normal that could've saved me after that. And the fact that Anne got the same note somehow makes it feel even more special, doesn't it? Girl power right there. It's such a tiny word, but coming from someone like him, it carries an absurd amount of weight. I'm very glad you had the good sense to at least attempt to play it cool, though.
