“Hey little kitty it’s alright. You don’t have to be afraid.” Alice knelt down and held her hand out to the kitten. It eyed her cautiously and slowly approached her until someone else came towards them. The kitten backed away, hissing at the newcomer. “You’re frightening the poor thing.” Alice looked over her shoulder at the other. 

    “The kitten has a right. It’s not like every single person out here nowadays is friendly,” Vanessa remarks staring a the cat.  “No point in wasting your time messing with strays.”

Silas stood in an open field, confused and with no recollection of what had happened to him. All he knew is he was covered in blood, naked, and in the pouring rain. He wanted his sister, but didn’t have any idea where to begin looking.

Vanessa was attracted to the chaos and the misfortune of others; she practically fed on it. And this Silas boy was no exception to that. In fact, she would feed off his misery a lot more than anyone else in this kingdom. And he was alone, so this was a perfect chance to get to know the boy better. See how much of a monster he really was. Approaching him with mock concern, she looks at him before saying, “Wow...that is a lot of blood. Are you okay?”

Sally smiled softly and nodded her head. “Of course. If we just retrace your footsteps we’re sure to find it.”

“I know for a fact that my friend was a terribly violent person.....And this witch helped him and now he can be normal. Isn’t that amazing? She didn’t even ask for much!”

“Oh I understand, trust me I do! The haggling of a witch is simply sketchy and unsavory. But I do know how carrying a lot of sadness feels too. And the fact that pain like that can just be simply tossed aside so that a person can live like they should be able to is kind of poetic.”

Sally smiled at the girl, feeling a little better about her current situation with returning home. Good deeds always helped. “What do you need?”

“You see I left this necklace in the woods. Very important and very pretty. It’s a brass conch shell. Can you assist me in finding it? I would be ever so grateful.”

“I can make your pain and suffering go away very easily. I know a witch who can fix you right up. But it will cost you. The woman doesn’t do hand-outs.”
