so i need to make a detailed post about it but some pointers about my jason “buddy” van horn:
1. he was not wall street, but he was fairly close. jason was an accountant for fairly wealthy business owners / entrepreneurs after his very shortlived stint in the U.S. ARMY. he has a cousin who he was close to growing up who ended up becoming a big dog in wall street and has rubbed it in ever since which struck a cord with jason. he became almost obsessed with needing more money so he could compete with his cousin in a competition he made up.
2. jason was a trained sniper for the U.S. ARMY. he only did an 11 month tour overseas before leaving the military without renewing his contract. this is where he got the training to claim to be (and succeed in being) a sharpshooter.
3. jason married his high school sweetheart while he was still in the ARMY. during one of his holiday leaves they eloped to vegas and got married. they were happy for about two years after that.
4. jason and his wife were both cheating on each other, though neither knew right away. eventually they agreed divorce would be the best option as they didn’t have any kids yet and she wanted to marry the man she had been seeing. jason agreed and after court proceedings ended up having to pay her alimony until she was remarried.
5. he had an issues of living well above his means which is how he ended up owing some people he didn’t want to owe, including doc. when he first started working for doc it was to pay him back, then he did it to pay off his other debts, not he does it for the thrill and the money.
6. jason is addicted to cocaine and alcohol. he is violent but never toward darling unless she WANTS him to be and he will explicitly wait for her to ask him to be rough if she wants him to. jason really does love darling and he is not just with her to be with her or just because “he can.” though he may have a distorted view of what love should be.
7. underneath the danger kinks and bad habits, jason isn’t a blood thirsty killer. unless darling is involved. he becomes a wolf when it comes to her. he will tear a man’s throat out if they so much as look at her a little too long. it’s not because he is worried she’ll leave him but rather he doesn’t see them as worthy of looking at her that way, or speaking to her a certain way especially if she has not welcomed it.
