I can’t remember where, but I read somewhere that there’s a popular headcanon where Takao went to the same middle school as Imayoshi and Hanamiya.
I love it, so I’m jumping on board with this headcanon too!
Although Takao didn’t approve of Hanamiya’s “physical” methods and found Imayoshi to be a bit too creepy at times, the three got along very well and are still friends to this day.
Takao is the only person in the world besides Imayoshi who can call Hanamiya “Mako-chan” without risking a slow and painful death.
In fact, one of the biggest reasons the Kirisaki Daiichi starters didn’t play the match against Shuutoku is that Makoto didn’t want to harm Takao’s team (But, oh, of course, he’ll never admit that openly).
Ok, I don’t know why, but after reading this post I was excited for one second and then immediately started listing all the reasons why it can’t work. I wanted to be on that train, but my brain has been screaming “no” the whole time.
I know it’s just a headcanon, but I can’t ignore the ages here, especially since middle school is mentioned. Takao is two years younger than Imayoshi and one year younger than Hanamiya, so if they all went to the same middle school, Takao would be a first-year, around 12. It feels too young for that dynamic to work. And I really can’t imagine Takao calling Hanamiya “Mako-chan” either — “-chan” is reserved only for Midorima💚.
I love Hanamiya because he’s so intense, and I just can’t picture him holding back because of a friend. Even if they were friends, I still don’t see him sparing Takao’s team. Maybe he’d avoid hurting Takao himself (and Midorima, if Takao asked), but an entire team? Nah.
So my Takao–Hanamiya headcanon is a little more mature. I imagine them meeting at the Winter Cup and hitting it off, even though Hanamiya is… well, Hanamiya. I can totally see Takao being excited by someone like him — he definitely excites me. (I’ve probably read too many fics where Hanamiya’s terrible personality is basically a form of art.)
And when I imagine Takao as an evil-leaning guy (that doesn’t happen often, but when it does, evil!Takao is my kryptonite) who knows how to fake being a good guy, that’s exactly where he and Hanamiya click, because with Hanamiya, he wouldn’t need to pretend at all.
Note: I love how serious we all get about fictional characters and even more fictional headcanons. 🥰
I'm sorry if I might sound petty but, honestly, I don't understand the reason for reblogging my headcanon just to tell me it's wrong. You can easily write your own headcanons without belittling other people's. You could have simply made a post saying "Hey, this is my headcanon about Hanamiya and Takao." Not to mention that, by reading my blog description, you would have discovered that these are headcanons about Kuroko no Basket, yes, but tied to the narrative universe of my fanfiction, which makes it even more nonsensical to come tell me it's wrong. That said, honestly I struggle to understand some of your arguments. What does the age difference have to do with it, and the fact that they could have been friends in middle school? What's so shocking about a one-year difference? It would be like saying that the members of the Generation of Miracles couldn't have had a friendship with Nijimura in middle school because he's one year older than them? As for the "-chan," Takao starts calling Midorima "Shin-chan" before the two become friends, because Takao is an adorable little shit and knows this would annoy Midorima to death and he has a blast doing it. I don't see why, in a context where they attended the same middle school, he couldn't do the same thing with Hanamiya, simply for personal amusement. As for the last part, there's too little information about Hanamiya to know exactly how he would behave in that particular situation, which is why they're called headcanons and not canon.
Note: Again, you can easily write your own headcanons without belittling other people's, i promise!
