âConnorâs coming to LA next week,â Sam mentions as we set up for his latest shoot. I was helping out of the goodness of my heart, bot because I worked for him.
Sam, Connor and I had been best friends forever. We grew up skating, filming and generally acting like fools.
âCon?â I ask, perking up at the thought of my best friend coming home. âI thought he was on tour with-â
Sam cuts me off, âShawn and him are coming to do some water brand deal? I donât know. But heâll be around.â
Sam smirks and wiggles his eyebrows. âYou gonna tell him youâre in love with him?â
I gasp and shake my head. âAbsolutely not! That would make everything so weird. You canât tell him either!â
A few weeks ago, Sam and I had gotten really drunk and I confessed my feelings for Connor. Now Sam was holding it over my head.
âBut you guys would be so cute together,â he whines. âCâmon, y/n.â
âI already said no, Sam. Drop it.â I shoot him a look to show that Iâm serious and he holds his hands up in defense.
âYouâre basically dating anyways. I donât see how saying something would change anything.â Sam shrugs and I roll my eyes. Deep down I couldnât be annoyed, though. Connor was coming home and I was ecstatic.
The day of his arrival, I make sure to look extra pretty. I canât even eat, my excitement to see my best friend for the first time in months putting my stomach in knots.
Sam smirks when he sees the effort I put into getting ready. âYouâre so fucked for him, arenât you?â
I blush and turn away from Sam, not enjoying the fact that he knows me well enough to realize I had put effort into my look.
âShut up.â I sit on the couch and pout, crossing my arms over my chest.
âY/nâs got a crush,â Sam smiles and makes kissy noises at me.
âWho does y/n have a crush on?â Connor calls down the hall of our apartment. His keys jingle in the door and I jump off the couch to meet him.
I run down the hall and Connor catches me in his arms with a grunt. My bare toes are lifted off the ground as he lifts me up.
âHey.â That one word melts my heart and thatâs when I know Iâm really fucked for Connor.
âHi, Iâve missed you. Mr. Bigshot doesnât have time for his old friends anymore, huh?â I giggle and lean into his chest. His arms tighten around me and he rests his chin on the top of my head.
âBaby Brash has a girlfriend? And he never told us?â Brian raises an eyebrow, but gives a satisfied smirk. âThatâs my boy.â
We drop our arms and look in the direction of the doorway where Brian and Shawn were standing. Shawn looks quite sheepish - even though heâs an actual rockstar - and Brian looks amused.
âUh we arenât dating. Just friends.â Connor nervously scratches the back of his neck and steps away from me. I frown, remembering that we are only friends.
âShut up. You guys have been dating forever and never realized it.â Sam comes around the corner and ruffles Connorâs hair. âAlso Baby Brash. Nice one.â
Sam hi-fives Brian and they laugh. I roll my eyes at their boyish antics. Connor blushes and looks down at the ground.
âWell, do you guys know a good place to get dinner?â Shawn asks, changing the subject. âBrian and I are starving.â
We walk to the beach where Connorâs favorite restaurant is nestled between a surf shack and a vape store. Connorâs hand brushes mine as we walk and I pull it away as if Iâve been shocked. I throw Connor a sheepish smile as he holds open the door for me.
Sitting in a booth, Iâm shoved between Sam and Connor - a regular occurrence since we were five and could actually fit together on one side.
Connorâs pressed firmly into my right side and I can smell his familiar cologne. God, I missed that smell. I want to shove my face into his collar and breathe him in forever.
Our food arrives fast, the staff already familiar with what Connor, Sam and I always ordered. We chat about the tour and I get to know Connorâs new friends.
I was slightly jealous - of them getting to spend all their time with Connor and the fact that Connor could get more attached to them - but so excited to talk to Shawn and Brian to find out more about these guys Connor couldnât shut up about.
They were goofy and having five boys at dinner made me feel like a mom trying to get them to behave. They squirted mustard and ketchup all over the table and drew dicks with the spilled table salt.
âDo you wanna take a walk?â Connor asks, whispering in my ear. Sam, Brian and Shawn were laughing about daring Brian to eat a mixture of condiments and drinks.
I nod, smiling at the tickling feeling I got as his breath hit my ear. He smiles and winks as if weâre the only two people in the world.
That was one of my favorite things about Connor. He made every person he talked to feel special.
I was happy they didnât notice when we scooted out of the booth and made our way down to the water. We shuffle along the beach, taking off our shoes to let our toes sink into the soft sand.
âI missed you, y/n,â Connor says. âI canât make fun of your stupidity when Iâm on the road.â
âYouâre a jerk, I canât believe I really missed you,â I laugh, pulling him into a hug. His head rests upon mine and he sighs.
âI wish I could stay in this moment forever.â His voice is quiet amidst the crashing waves. He softly pets my hair and sighs. âCan I pack you up in my suitcase and bring you on the road.â
âI wish,â I groan, melting into his chest. âWhat if you just send Sam and stay home with me?â
Connor chuckles, the movement shaking my body. Weâre quiet, reveling in the others embrace. The waves start to touch our feet and I shiver, not ready for the cold.
âYou cold?â Connor asks, leaning back to look at me.
He shrugs off his jean jacket and carefully lays it over my shoulders.
âWow, who needs a boyfriend when you have your own personal Connor to lend you his jacket?â I joke.
Connor smiles, but itâs forced. I narrow my eyebrows and frown.
He shakes his head. Mumbling under his breath he says, âI donât want you getting a boyfriend.â
I raise my eyebrows. It wasnât as if I was planning on getting a boyfriend but he had some nerve telling me what I could and couldnât do.
âExcuse me?â I put my hands on my hips and consider throwing his jacket in the sand just to be dramatic.
âI donât want you getting a boyfriend!â His voice is loud even on the open beach. âBecause I want to be your fucking boyfriend!â
âYou wanna be my âfucking boyfriend!ââ I yell back, caught up in the moment. âWell I wanna be your fucking girlfriend.â
âGood!â Connor steps closer to me.
âGood!â I step closer to him and our lips crash together.
It feels like heaven opened up above us and angels were singing as we kissed. It was everything I ever needed and more.
He grips my waist, sliding his hands down my hips. Our tongues slide together deliciously and I moan softly into his lips.
We catch our breath, our lips still touching and smile. Whistling from up the beach catches our attention and we spot Shawn, Sam and Brian peeping on our moment.
âGod, you guys are so dramatic. All the yelling was totally unnecessary. I told you that you were already dating.â Sam rolls his eyes as I stand in Connorâs embrace, not intending to leave it for a while.
âNow itâs official and the entire beach heard it,â I giggle, nuzzling my head into Connorâs chest.
âYeah, youâre his fucking girlfriend,â Brian laughs with a shake of his head.
âThatâs right. Sheâs my fucking girlfriend and Iâm her fucking boyfriend.â
