what kind of person do you think var is in the way of dressing? can't decide if he doesn't care about appearance, as long as it's comfortable, or she's like: "I'm not going to wear short sleeves, I'm too shy." maybe both in different periods of life

The answer is definitely different depending on periods of life- but i do personally think that masculine clothes have always been a hard no for Varian. She never outwardly said anything for a long time, but would gravitate toward more gender neutral clothing while resisting men's clothing the best she could. He was probably forced to wear a few suits here and there, pulled at them the whole time and felt extremely restricted for sure.
So during that time period until season 1, Varian just wore what was best comfortable and the closest to what she truly wanted to wear. She didn't mind that outfit at all, it was flowly and breathable and the long apron even acted as a skirt in a way. But it certainly wasn't her dream attire.
After season 3, when finally rejecting the outfit given to him there, Varian would feel comfortable enough to start wearing anything. I think she'd try out a lot of different things, lot's of different styles and looks, but the common denominator being that they're all tailored to women. Even if some are more tomboy-ish, and others more femme. He'd prefer clothes easier to move and work in, tight fitting tops, shorts/bigger pants, rolled up tunics, etc.
He definitely loves dresses as well, but not the big poofy ball gowns. Something short and flowy, sundresses or short bouffant skirts. Never takes those damn dirty work gloves off though.
Short answer: yes, I think she overall cares about appearance and wants to look/feel nice.
